We got our tray, paper liner, and tongs. We checked out the pastries available before grabbing a Pistachio Cloud Cream Donut, Portuguese Egg Tart, Curry Croquette, and Mushroom Onion Cheese Pastry. At checkout, we also got a Latte and Honey Lavender Macchiato before sitting down to dine. Everything was amazing! We loved every bite of the pastries we got. Coffees were also great. Espresso is often bitter, today I had a latte so bad I couldn't finish it. The pastries are only okay, and when I asked for mine heated, it was still cold in the middle. I've only ever been in here when it's not super busy, so I haven't had to wait too long for my order. The inside is decorated cute though, it's very modern and seems like a good spot to work remotely. Not my first choice when going to bakeries/cafes in Catonsville.

We were waiting close to an hour for it to be given to us and when it was ready, it seemed rushed in some areas of decoration. The decorative bow we requested had fallen off. The number toppers were not glittered as we requested. Some of the stripes were broken and the cake seemed to be melting in some areas as though there hadn't been enough time between the cake cooling and being decorated. Our cake was delicious, but it was aesthetically unsatisfactory and we felt a little ripped off. I ordered a birthday cake for my mom's birthday celebration, and it started from seeing a post on Instagram. I spoke with the owner on the phone to discuss my vision for the cake, and after seeing the outcome, I have to say it was executed well! The cake had four layers, and we had the option to choose two flavors - so we went with vanilla and lemon. Both tasted so good! I'm usually not a fan of lemon anything, but I was really impressed with this one. Unfortunately, I didn't like the outer red icing. It wasn't edible and had a very bitter taste. I understand that darker icings require more food coloring, but this was to the point where it couldn't even be eaten. Because the actual cake itself was really good, it was easy to overlook the frosting. I usually don't eat too much icing anyway, but we chose this color because of the theme of my mom's party. I'm sure a lighter frosting that doesn't require much food coloring wouldn't have such a bitter taste. Cedars Cakes also sells cupcakes and other baked goods, such as cookies and macaroons in the store. If this bake shop was here ten years ago when I was attending college in the area, I know I would've frequented so often! The cake was absolutely delicious and my mom was very happy with it. I called Mashel, the baker/business owner to place my order for a dozen of the classic vanilla. She was very friendly and professional via our call and exchanging texts. I believe she bakes from her home. We coordinated a delivery time and I met her at a local elementary school. Alternatively she will deliver to Columbia, Ellicott City, Clarksville, Elkridge, & North Laurel for orders of 2 dozen or more, per her website. She arrived on time for my pickup for an event the following day. I put the cupcakes in the fridge overnight. The following day the cupcakes were taken out of the fridge around 9:30 am and eaten around noon. I loved the cake itself as it was moist. The icing and cake were both flavorful, however, the icing was too soft. The texture was not what I am accustomed to and not sure if being in the fridge had something to do with it. Presentation wise the cupcake looked simple with sprinkles on top. It looked cupcakes you would find at the grocery store including the plastic packaging. I was surprised when I saw the cupcakes how small they were. I was expecting them to be bigger if they are normally valued at $30. Other bakeries may charge $3-$4 more for a dozen but they are considerably bigger. Also, if I go to other brick and mortar bakeries, for a comparable price I am able to choose different flavors whereas here I am limited to a dozen of the same flavor.
