    Hours!
    Shaun R.

After seeing an ad for Sweet CLE-'bus's grand opening last week, my girlfriend and I were happy to be among the first in line when the business opened. I love a good pierogi, and it's hard to find them fresh (i.e. NOT Mrs. T's in the frozen section of the supermarket). The line was about ten deep when we arrived, though after twenty minutes or so, we noticed that there were at least another twenty people in line outside. Service was a *tad* slow, but that is certainly understandable for the first day (first hour!) of business. They had several varieties available for purchase, all of them costing about $2 or $2.50 each. If that sounds expensive, it's really not, as these pierogi are BIG. Deceptively big. We wound up buying twelve -- four "cheesebombs," four bacon, chive, and cheddar, and four cheddar and onion. When we got home for lunch later, I decided to pan fry them with a small chopped up onion, some minced garlic, and a healthy (or rather, UNhealthy) dollop of butter. I realized just how big they were, and only wound up cooking half of them (about three minutes or so on each side). We'd bought some of their store-made dill-and-garlic sour cream as well, and that was a good accompaniment. Overall, I can imagine it's a place we might return to. The flavors are expected to have some turnover every month, and some of the options that were on the board (but weren't available today) were tantalizing. A sign above the counter makes it clear that the proprietor (Liz) is a home baker at heart, but that's more of a bonus than a bug, in my opinion. Hopefully Sweet CLE-'bus sticks it out and thrives for years to come.

My boyfriend and I went here in its first hour of opening. I'm glad we did because when we left there was a line all around the parking lot. When the pierogis sell out, they're done for the day, so go early! (FYI, the store is hard to find; it's next to an alterations place.) We ordered 12 pierogis - bacon/cheddar, cheddar bomb and cheddar/onion; tho the choices change monthly. They're a big, pillowy bundle of goodness! Best pan fried with butter and onions. Overall, Sweet Cle-'Bus offers a satisfying meal that truly tastes homemade.

Another pierogi place! In Columbus! That's the one big gap in our very diverse and high-quality…read morefood scene. We've always needed more Eastern European food. There have been a few Polish and Russian places over the years, and Hubert's and Pierogi Mountain have stuck around and are local treasures, but there's just not enough. I was very excited when I heard about this place. And it's at the ghost kitchen on Essex, along with a dozen other places, so it's handy for me on the way to work. They have some interesting items in addition to pierogi and kielbasa and sauerkraut. They have pierogi "skillets," which have stuff piled on top of pierogi. It's a good idea, and they look tasty, but I either was not hungry enough or I'm just a purist so I did not get them this time. Not sure if there will be a next time, because their ordering system royally sucks. You order directly from their website, which gives them more money, which is a good thing. But it's still flipdoor or Grubdash or whatever the heck ordering system they use, and it forces you to give them a card to save, which I do not like at all. And then it does not give you a pickup time. You just wait and then they say "prepping," and then "oh, it's ready." Well, I need to have an estimated time, or be able to set a time. I'm not ordering from the parking lot and sitting there for an hour. It took me ten minutes to get there after I got the "ready" text. By the time I got them they were barely warm. They include sour cream and grilled onions, so don't pay extra for them (I didn't realize some were included so I ended up with extra.) I don't know where they get their pierogi from; they don't mention making them in-house so I assume they are outsourced. They're pretty good but also pretty standard. I got the smoked mozz. 5 for $10. Also got kielbasa, cut up and sided with mustard. Also good. Not amazing. It's nice to have more options, but we already have a couple of great ones, and I will not be back till they change this ordering system.

We tried the chicken bacon ranch and the jalapeño popper. They arrived warm and were loaded with toppings. The chicken bacon ranch had just the right combination of chicken and ranch and the same was true for the jalapeños. So tasty! They were 5 pierogies in each skillet and were so filling we even had enough left over for the next day! Would highly recommend and will definitely be back!

The technique seemed correct, maybe fold the eggs over when they're still wet. Would have made all the difference. The bratwurst was excellent and my mustard hating wife loved the kitchen made mustard. So much so that we brought some home. She also had fresh squeezed OJ. Always a super sweet treat. The service waa excellent and more than made up for the minor challenges. Based on the bratwurst alone, the traditional dinner items have got to be incredible. We first visited the information center where they showed a short video about how the German settlers came to Columbus. Before leaving, we asked where we should eat for a true German experience. The person there immediately recommended Schmidt's Sausage Haus, saying there were other good places, but Schmidt's was the place for authentic German food. We walked over and were seated right away. Our server greeted us and returned quickly to take our drink order. We both had iced tea. He also told us about the buffet and suggested we take a look before ordering. We checked it out, but it just didn't appeal to us that evening, so we ordered from the menu instead. My wife ordered the potato soup, and I ordered the Old World Sausage Sampler: "A combination of four sausages from famous recipes of the J. Fred Schmidt Packing Company served over hot kraut und pork with German potato salad, chunky applesauce, und split top bun." When the food arrived, it looked amazing. I honestly don't remember exactly which four sausages they were, but every one of them was excellent. The sauerkraut had great flavor, and the warm German potato salad was outstanding. The applesauce was good too, although I personally prefer smooth over chunky. I actually mixed some of the applesauce with the sauerkraut and really enjoyed that combination. For dessert, we took a couple items to go. My wife had the cream cheese tort with cherry topping, and I had the famous cream puff. The tort was okay, but the crust wasn't my favorite and the cream cheese filling was just average to me. The cream puff was definitely better. The shell was perfectly done and the filling was good, although I was hoping for a little more rich vanilla custard flavor. I think a chocolate topping would have made it even better. Later I found out they also offer a chocolate version, but our server never mentioned that option. Our server was very friendly throughout the meal. The only small thing that became a little repetitive was him saying "All right, all right, all right" after every item we ordered. Overall though, we really enjoyed our experience and were glad we stopped. The sausage and German potato salad were especially memorable, and I'm honestly considering ordering some of their sausage and potato salad shipped to us this summer.

Their new hours of operation at the time of this review are from Thursday to Saturday 11-6 and Sunday 11-4. I've wanted to try this place for soo long but Bexley is just out of my way. So when I heard that Red Square Grill became closer to me, I just had to try it! I brought my mom along to explain the dishes to me and what's good (short answer; everything). The lady that took our order is very nice and very helpful with understanding the menu. She speaks both Russian and English, so communication was not an issue. There's even an area to sit behind the food truck if you wanted to hang out there, which is what we did. I don't need the judgement, but I had a lot (it's been over 20 years since I've had these dishes) ... I had about 4 Chebureki (crescent shaped deep-fried pastry with meat inside), 2 Samsa (flakey pastry with either beef or lamb), 1 Lagman (think of a hearty soup mixed with light pasta - consists of meat, different vegetables, and noodles, VERY filling). I ate the most I've had in my life. Everything tasted delicious and nostalgic. It's not pricey at all and very worth it. With Columbus not having many Russian & Uzbek restaurants, it really makes me happy that this food truck exists and bringing a bit of diversity to Columbus. This is such a great opportunity to try a new cuisine and be exposed to a new culture that's really hard to come by otherwise. I really hope my review somewhat helps even one person not familiar with the food truck try it out. I will be back!
