I had the Hofbrauhaus hot brown. It was really good and filling. The Hefeweisen was great too. It was like a visit to Bavaria. The service was quick. So, overall a good experience. They also had a stage for a live band. I would've liked to hear some music while I was there, but I guess I was there a little too early in the day. Having a live music and a lively atmosphere would've made it a perfect Bavarian experience. I'll probably come back during the summer to see if it's more lively. read more

Absolutely love visiting in the summer when you can enjoy the patio. Most of the seating is first come first serve but they also have bar seating. I have never been to Oktoberfest in Munich (it is high on the bucket list) but I have been to many Oktoberfest celebrations in the U.S. We must have come on the right night because this felt like an Oktoberfest celebration. There was a very good live band, the place was loud, the food was great, our server was wonderful, and there might have been some beer drinking involved. We also waited about 30 minutes for our table. That was not the restaurant's fault. Make a reservation or get on the wait list. Do not underestimate the portion sizes. You will get a lot of food here. We ordered way too much but almost everything we tried was excellent. We had the Yard Sampler (fresh pretzels, beer cheese, fried pickles, potato pancakes, and Reuben Balls). Everything was very good, especially the Reuben Balls. I don't know anyone named Reuben but this oddly named creation is delicious. We also tried the chicken tenders basket and received four enormous breaded chicken tenders and a ton of fries. This was probably not the most German dish around but the chicken was tender and juicy and the fries were perfect. We also ordered a huge side of spatzle because, why not. Finally, because we wanted to make sure there was no food left for anyone else in the joint, we ordered the Munich sampler, which comes with two large sausages, Jagerschnitzel (two huge pork cutlets), German potato salad, and sauerkraut (which I loved. It was not too tangy.) Did we also try a huge Oreo cream puff for dessert? Of course we did. I am not a dessert guy, nor a cream puff guy, but as far as Oreo cream puffs go, this was a good one. The "half" size beers are gigantic. I had two and they were delicious and more than sufficient to transport me halfway to Germany. I took an Uber afterwards so it was all good. The atmosphere was fantastic. The food was great. We loved our server. The prices were reasonable. The band was super fun. Do I have complaints? I do not. read more

Everything came out in reasonable time and I'm not going to describe every bite, but I was in heaven. The Bier gravy fries were special. Garlic Pretzel bites were crazy good. Chicken tenders were seasoned perfectly and the sauces (honey mustard and some sorta bourbon bbq) had me cross dippin and dunkin. I basically ordered dive bar food items, but it was the best I've had especially for $5 each. Washing it down with a wheat beer just kicked it over the fence. We're in town for a wedding and came here for dinner. I requested Standard Seating on the OpenTable reservation, not High Top. When we arrived to a less than half full restaurant, the hostess took us all the way through the regular tables over to the High Tops, where there was a crowd of about ten loud men just standing around drinking right up against us. See the photo - the guy in the brown jacket in the bottom right corner was right up against me. They were blocking aisles and everything, and no one asked them to be seated somewhere or at least not block the aisle and be right up against other customers in this very large, otherwise uncrowded place. Also as we were being seated, I said to the hostess that I'd requested Standard Seating on the reservation, not High Top. She said when I changed the reservation time, it automatically changed the seating. I was like, what? And just kind of looked at her, wondering why OpenTable would change my seating preference just because I changed the time, and even if so, it was obvious we (a couple) didn't want High Top seating right by this loud group, and there was PLENTY of low seating on this Thursday evening. There were several booths available across the restaurant. She started to offer to move us because I questioned the whole "changing your reservation time changes your seating preference," but she seemed annoyed to offer it, and I'm like are you kidding me? I told you I reserved Standard Seating, and you seem to know that OpenTable for some reason defaulted to High Top when the time changed (I would never have chosen High Top - if the restaurant had been full, I would have politely waited for a low table), and the restaurant isn't even half full, and you start making excuses when I mentioned the seating I requested, and when I stand there baffled at this automatic change, you half-heartedly offer to move us? I am 50 years old. My ankles swell if I sit at a high top too long. High tops are the stupidest form of seating to begin with - you can't move the seat in or out because you're feet aren't touching the floor, and it makes older people's ankles swell, but I didn't want to seem like a Karen or a demanding old lady talking about her medical condition, so we just sat there. That group of ten men was still hanging out there when we left. I hosted and waited tables many years ago, and I was told you always accommodate the customer as much as you possibly can, with a smile and no excuses. Even if you're trying to space out seating to equalize for the servers, if a customer needs or wants a different seat and it's available, you happily move them. I ordered an old fashioned but with spiced rum instead of bourbon. They got the spiced rum part right, but it wasn't made right. It was very weak, as if it must have had more simple syrup than normal, and not enough liquor or bitters. And it was mostly ice. I wouldn't care that it didn't have a traditional old fashioned single large ice cube, except it was mostly ice. I didn't order a second one just to pay for more ice. The food was pretty good, but not as good as the German-owned German restaurant we have near home in Sanford, FL. This place seemed more touristy. Our waitress was great, super sweet. read more

Large bier hall with heavy wooden bench seats in the middle and wooden booths along the front wall. Our server, Caleb, was great. Parking garage for covered parking helps when it's raining. The Mettwurst with bier cheese spaetzle and imported sauerkraut is so delicious. I tried the Wurstatte which comes with one of each bratwurst. But next time I would just order the Mettwurst meal. Had an amazing time enjoying some outdoor dining at Hofbrauhaus. It was my first time there and the indoors was a bit loud and overwhelming because of the music and crowds, but thankfully the outdoor space was extensive so there were plenty of seats. You can order and pay through your phone and they delivered the food to you. The beer selection was vast and I enjoyed seeing their display of beer glasses- I even found a buffalo bills one! Got a cold light beer to enjoy with my meal. The sampler came with sausages, schnitzel, sauerkraut, and I chose a side of Spätzle. The meal was great and the schnitzel was crispy and delicious. The potato pancakes were also great, and came with a side of apple sauce and sour cream. I keep hearing about this place and have been meaning to come. I was going to come for Restaurant Week last week, but was just too busy. So I swung by today, and: they've extended the restaurant week menu till the end of January (2025.) So I could've gotten that, but I ended up going with their lunch specials. $10 for assorted sandwiches basically, or for the soup and salad bar. Or, you can add that to an entrée for $5. The soup and salad bar isn't big enough on its own really, unless you are going to eat a ton of it. But as an add-on, it was perfect. I got the bierwurst lunch special. A mild sausage and fries. Pretty good sausage, nothing amazing. Pretty good fries. The salad was fresh, and there were enough toppings to make it interesting. They had potato soup and cheddar broccoli available, both very good versions. (I had hoped to try the chili.) The rest of the menu is very very interesting. Lots of things I want to try. Service was excellent from several people. The place is pretty cool inside, like a beer hall. Large and open, though with some booths along the side. German music playing. There is lot and garage parking outside the restaurant. Their happy hour deals are worth coming for ($4 half liter beer and $5 select appetizers). I'm not the biggest fan of sauerkraut but I enjoyed theirs. -Braised Classic Pork Shank: Omg the pork was super tender and fell right off the bone without any effort. The mashed potato was also really good. -Sauerbraten: Basically like a beef pot roast. It wasn't my favorite out of everything I got. The beef itself was super tender but I wasn't the biggest an of the sauce. -Potato Soup: Our server recommended this and this did not disappoint. A German in Columbus has no excuse to refrain from a night at the Hofbrauhaus. My mother would be proud. She never made it here, but, we've managed a couple dozen visits on her behalf. Every meal here has been a masterpiece. All plated meticulously and served up in traditional Bavarian custom. Nice attention to detail. I've only had better Bavarian style in one other place in this country, so I'd say these people are doing something right. I've sampled close to 100% of the menu and haven't found a flaw. The bier is even authentic and smooth. Easy to get carried away and over indulge. Pro Tip: Show up in the first week of each month when they tap a fresh keg. They're within walking distance of lower.com stadium so we've met here a few times after the Columbus Crew soccer match. Understand that on Friday and Saturday nights they only stay open until 11:00pm and 12:00am, respectively. The kitchen, however, closes at 10:00pm both nights. We got French fries, mashed potatoes, sampler plate appetizer, chili, potato soup, breakfast burger with cheesy hash brown , jagerschnitzel with German potato salad and cabbage, spetzel with side of mushroom gravy, and coleslaw. Also apple strudel, Black Forest torte, and Boston cream puff. The food was amazing!! Not many places have schnitzel down here. They have done it right! Love the gravy, and it went so well with the spetzel, I could eat a second plate of spetzel. I did not care for the cabbage and potato salad so next time I may just substitute that for two sides of spetzel and gravy. Our daughter is a picky eater and she loved the mashed potato and the fries and the soft pretzel. My husband loved his burger. He is also a picky eater and he wants to go again to try more items on the menu. The dessert are so delicious. We took those to-go. They tasted great re-heated lightly in the oven. The service was great. Our server was very nice and always checked on us with refills on our drinks. The atmosphere is very cozy and very traditional. Big long tables and benches are very cool. Best replication of German culture within Ohio. One of the very few places these days that has some uniqueness to it.

Made a pitstop here while driving through Ohio. Very dog friendly and everyone was very welcoming. The out outdoor beer garden reminded me of the original location in Germany, long tables and all the servers dressed in traditional attire. The bar outside had TVs showing local sports and also is covered in case you were trying to avoid the sun or rain. I got my favorite uncle beer and wurstplate with a side of fruit.
