Pleasantly surprised by the Ube ice cream. They use their vanilla base and mix in real okinawan sweet potatoes when they roll the ice cream. It was pretty good! I didnt catch her name, but she was very patient and talked about her newphews being about 10 years old. She was very patient with my 2 children. OMG!!!! One of my girlfriends took me here one night after dinner and all I can say is I'm hooked! I came here for the first time because my friend wanted ice cream for her birthday. I didn't even know this place existed! It's tucked behind Manichi Ramen in the little parking lot. There's also Taste Tea next door! We didn't wait too long and they only had 2 people working. 1 of them was working on a big order so the wait was understandable. We both got the Cookies n Cream one. It's really good! The only thing I'd suggest is that since they have a 2 person limit inside, they should ask the customers to wait outside for their order so that other people can come in and order. My friend and I were next to order and this couple ordered inside and decided to also wait inside for their order not being considerate to anyone else waiting outside who didn't order yet. It's not the business' fault for these inconsiderate people, but I feel they should at least ask them to kindly wait outside due to their 2 person limit. I loved it! I've had rolled ice cream before but I think this has been my favorite so far. There were a lot of options from popular favor combos for the rolled ice cream to beverages like frozen cold brew. I got the frozen hot cocoa and it was delicious! Just sweet enough, creamy, toasted marshmallow, chocolate chips, and a chocolate drizzle! My husband got the frozen cold brew black and it was nice and strong! We tried this place out after the dim sum restaurant that is attached to the same parking lot on Kona St. We got three different types of rolls, all were good. We also grabbed a couple of pre packed ice creams to go. Those are still sitting in my freezer. They do take a few minutes to make your rolls, but we were lucky to go with no one inside, so ours were first to make. By the time we left there was a line outside as only 4 were allowed inside the shop at a time. We will return, but maybe only when we are in the Ala Moana area. read more

I ordered their Beary Tasty Rainbow which is vanilla rolled up icecream with fruity pebbles, strawberry and whip cream. My icecream had a little teddy bear graham. It was too cute to eat! The establishment is pretty small. They only have a couple tables inside, but they also have an outdoor bench for outside seating. I made the mistake of not checking in until after I paid for my icecream. If you have a yelp account, DON'T FORGET TO CHECK IN FOR 10%!!! Watching them create this masterpiece is just amazing!!! Sweet Creams was one of the first rolled ice cream places to come to the islands. I've been following them since before they got a shop! I first tried this place last Halloween at a pop-up event at Pearlridge. They were giving out cute marshmallows with faces on them! Back then they only had 3 flavors available at a time: Matcha, S'mores and Cookies n Cream. They also only had one size. This time I got the Cookies n Cream which was vanilla base with Oreo mixed it, topped with chocolate syrup, whipped cream, Cocoa Krispies, and a Pocky stick! It was so flavorful and creamy! So many flavors going on with all the mix ins and toppings. I only had Sweet Creams one other time at a Yelp event at Neiman Marcus! This time I opted to try their Strawberry flavor. It was strawberry ice cream topped with strawberries, Fruity Pebbles, strawberry syrup, whipped cream, and a graham cracker. Since then, I wasn't able to come to this location cause the line was SO long every time! I was so happy to see the line not out the door when I arrived. I was SO excited to see so many flavors on the menu board! I didn't know which one to pick! I opted for Monkey N Around which is vanilla base with banana and Nutella mixed it. It was topped with chocolate syrup, more bananas, Cocoa Krispies, 2 Nilla wafers, and of course whipped cream! This was LIFE CHANGING! It was soooo delicious! Fresh bananas mixed in and on top! Nutella inside and out! Loved that they put more Nutella right before it was rolled so I actually got chunks of Nutella throughout. The Cocoa Krispies and the cookies added a nice crunch. My friends got the Beary Tasty Rainbow and I Love You Matcha. They both enjoyed theirs! The Beary Rainbow came with Fruity Pebbles both in and on top, strawberry syrup, fresh strawberries, and Teddy Graham's! It was SUPER cute and colorful! The Matcha comes with mochi balls, azuki, and a Tea Cookie! The only thing we didn't like was the cookie. Was was super hard and was coconut flavor which didn't exactly go with the ice cream. The BEST part of this, in my opinion was they have 2 sizes!!! A Keiki size and regular size. I love this because sometimes you just can't finish one after you've eaten dinner! A Keiki comes with around 5 'rolls' and is $5.50. The regular comes with approximately 7 'rolls' and is $7.00! On top of allll this, you can choose to create your own creation for $6.00 for Keiki and $7.50 for a regular. On top of that, they serve cold pressed coffee and lemonade! Talk about options! I'll definitely be back! But it is an art form figuring out a good time to come. Right after we got our orders the line was out the door! They definitely need more workers, a bigger spot, and/or both because it's the making of the ice cream that holds up the line. Overall, I'll definitely be back for that Monkey N Around! I love coming to this place. It's located on Kona street, across from Ala Moana and near the bank. You are able to enter the parking lot from Kapiolani Blvd or Kona Street. If you enter from Kapiolani, there is a driveway right next to Burger King. If you enter from Kona Street, you will see a ramen store and white stairs. The store is on the ground floor next to a ramen place and Taste Tea. There are other stores upstairs. This is a small place with limited seating outside and inside. As soon as you enter, you are welcomed by the staff. There is a menu available with descriptions of each combination. This month had a flavor of the month and it was Lemon Bar. It was so creamy and delicious, but yu could hardly taste the lemon. Sometimes it takes awhile to get your ice cream because there could be a line, a huge party, or not enough workers. But even though it takes awhile, it is worth the wait. But as a friendly reminder, please make sure the front door is closed because it can mess with the AC and the machines. It's located in the small 2-story shopping center (separate) across from Ala Moana mauka of the Post Office on the street level Kona St. They serve ice cream rolls and other yummy beverages. I ordered the Beary Tasty Rainbow which was a delicious flavor with the fruity pebbles in it! My mom and Dad got the Minty Dream which was also very good too, garnished with an Andes Mint. Yum! Craving something sweet, we stopped by to share a matcha flavored rolled ice cream with anko (Japanese sweet bean paste). This is my favorite flavor, the green tea goes really well with the sweet beans. The large size is a bit on the pricey side, it's 7.00 and not very big at all... but every once in a while, you just have to give in to your favorite sweet craving! The service was very nice and they have an electronic point system, where they store the points you earn for each purchase. After a certain amount of points, you get a free ice cream. This is a great idea because I no longer have to worry about losing my card or carrying around all the cards I have from other establishments. I'm loving these rolled ice cream joints. All the ones that I've been to have been good. I especially like this one because they have the Pineapple 5-0. That rolled pineapple ice cream was scrumptious. This is the only location that has it. They have ice cream flavors that has already been concocted or you can choose to make your own. You just choose the base flavor of your ice cream, the ingredients you want blended in, and the toppings. They have two sizes here. The keiki is $5 and the regular is $7. If you custom make your own it's $5.50 for the keiki and $7.50 for the regular. I wouldn't be able to finish the regular size own my own. The keiki portion would be perfect for me. The store is small. There's only two tables on the inside to sit at. There's a few more seats outside. Usually the line is long and all the seats are taken. We were in Oahu for a few days and was craving a cold treat! Since my sister in law lived in Oahu, she took us this to this place ! I've never seen them actually chop it up and roll it in person before only in videos so it was really interesting to see it in person! I ordered their fruity pebble and I enjoyed it! Since this was my first time, I wasn't sure what and how to order. As there was a short line, I didn't have time to scrutinize the posted menu. I just ordered a bunch of add-ins and realized while ordering that you can have these add-ins crushed up into your ice cream or on the side. I recommend ordering one from the set menus for first-timers. Regardless of my inexperienced ordering, my rolled up ice cream was good! They will ask for your name when you order and then call you when they begin to prepare your dessert so you can watch. When they are done, you can pay at the cashier and pick up your ice cream. I prefer Cold Stone Creamery over this place but Cold Stone is no longer around in Honolulu. Back in 2011, while traveling through Southeast Asia, we came across a street vendor in Phuket, Thailand who was rolling out ice cream on a freezing pan...she called it "stir-fried ice cream" (Chinese: 炒雪糕). I was mesmerized not only because I ordered a tasty frozen durian treat but the female street vendor executed similar techniques using trowels as if applying plaster to drywall. Fast forwarding to 2013 Yelp days, several Yelp friends from New York and Los Angeles began reviewing new businesses doing the same thing at Chinese boba drink shops. Meanwhile, Hawai'i didn't have this frozen treat available until recently. I missed the YEE that featured Sweet Creams as a pop-up and everyone seemed to rave about this treat. But, I found out about their brick-and-mortar shop on Kona Street from my Yelp daughter. Shortly after, thanks to Yelp, Sweet Creams appeared as "Hot & New" so my taste buds were revved and excited again. After a Happy Hour "session" with several Yelp friends, we were craving dessert and ice cream came up. I suggested this place and within a few minutes we arrived to a "packed house" with line forming out the door. We entered to get a look at the menu and started to decide upon which treat to try...choice of menu item OR customized treat. The line moved relatively quickly and we ordered a child's (Keiki) portion of "Monkey 'N Around" for $5.00. I chose their "Hot Cocoa" base to which banana and Nutella were mixed in and topped with chocolate Rice Krispies, chocolate syrup and a Lorna Doone cookie. It took about 2 minutes from start to finish and I really felt for the workers who were bombarded with other eager dessert fanatics. I don't think that this treat will ever win over the hearts of boba tea or milk tea drinkers but, it's another Asian dessert import to try. I usually stay away from places serving sweets and ice cream but when Elite extraordinaire Lyla D mentioned this new dessert shop and their innovative way of making these ice cream treats my curiosity was piqued. Sweet Creams starts out with the liquid base of ice cream and rolls it around on a crepe like maker which, instead of cooking it, freezes the creamy concoction. The maker then scrapes the ice cream off into rolls. One can choose from addons to go inside of the ice cream and up to 4 toppings to go on top of the dessert OR choose an already tried and recommended combination. Because of my love for all things matcha green tea, tonite I ordered the "I love you so matcha" treat. It was everything it promised to be and more. My friends ordered the "Monkey n Around (pure Nutella, banana, chocolate delite)" and the "Frozen Hot Cocoa". Both sooo yumm! The shop was a small shop with about 3 tables and a few chairs. The flavors I have tried are matcha, cookies and cream, and strawberry shortcake. Out of all the flavors, matcha was my favorite and it was the first flavor I tried. The regular size is around $7.50 and Keiki size is like $5.50. Yes, it is expensive but a performance (the process of making rolled ice cream) is included. Getting the experience is always my thing, so one try for now is good for me. Freshly made ice cream that comes in a rolled form? YES PLEASE! Waiting for aforementioned ice cream for 2+ hours? NO THANKS! My bf and I came at about 7:00 pm on a Saturday night (bad judgment on our part lol) and there was about 30 people in front of us. My sister came earlier that day and it only took her about 30 minutes to get her ice cream when there was about a same crowd. Long story short, it took us a little over 2 hours to for us to get our ice cream. When we got to the front there was only three workers: 2 making ice cream and 1 person taking pre orders. Only 2/4 of their machines were working and it was extremely hectic and messy. I'm not gonna lie, I was EXTREMELY irritated for waiting so long, but we were already committed and leaving would be weak lol. Overall, the ice cream was yummy and aesthetically pleasing. Rolled ice cream is a cool concept, but is definitely not worth a 2+ hour wait. I think this place has such a potential to serve customers faster if they were able to hire another person to help out or create a more optimized system of making ice cream/cashiering or something. I was going to rate this 2 stars, but the workers here were friendly and working really hard despite being understaffed. I will review this place again when I have a chance and don't have to wait so long. read more

I dragged my friends here - In my car - because I wanted them to experience "rolled" ice cream! I've had this type of dessert twice in Los Angeles at Chelo Creamery. It's a pretty cool process - just watch them use the spatula to scrape the frozen, flat liquid into a roll... Yes - It starts off as a liquid. Fresh fruit (strawberry, for example) is added and chopped up by hand. The frozen platter makes the liquid into a solid so it can be scraped into a roll with a spatula. The rolls are arranged - standing up - in a bowl, then topped with cookie crumbs, cereal, or whatever you wish if you choose to make your own creation. We were celebrating my friend's birthday, so we let her choose whatever she wanted: Love You Matcha. I was able to taste the green tea flavor, but she would have preferred it to be a stronger taste. It was a nice, subtle, creamy matcha essence to me and I especially liked the orange colored mochi ball topping and wafer cookie that was included. We arrived on Grand Opening Day (2-18-17) at a pretty good time (midafternoon) because there were just a few people in front of us. All of the counter seats and tables were filled inside. Outside, we were able to place our bowl down and stand up at one of the high tops. It's a cozy shop and I really admire the workers for keeping calm and working so hard to power through the line of customers! I saw one guy taking a short break to wipe his brow, wash up, then return back to the grind - that's a sure sign of dedication - BOOM! Everyone remained pleasant and cheerful on this stressful day! LOCATION: this space used to be a shave ice shop called Ailana. It's right next to Manichi Ramen on Kona Street, across from Ala Moana Shopping Center. It shares the free parking lot with Thank Q Pocha on the Kapiolani Boulevard side. So, if you can imagine, the parking is rather tight, so just be patient and it will all work out! It's a great experience if you've never had this type of ice cream before. (It's more convenient than travelling to Thailand or Los Angeles!) I would go back for the Strawberry Shortcake special... or, if I felt adventurous, I would Create My Own and get pineapple topping, toasted coconut flakes, and shortbread cookies... maybe it would be like a pina colada pie? Very very happy I was able to walk over and there be NO line! Walked straight up to the counter and ordered. I can understand why people have to wait awhile; the ice cream does take a few minutes to make. Totally worth the 7$ for ice cream in an original size. The already made ones are 7 and if you wanna make your own you spend 50 cents more. So not bad The ice cream doesn't melt right away, and honestly was some bomb ice cream, I've never thought to put fruity pebbles as a topping, but I sure as heck have been missing out!! As for parking, if you see there's no space in the tiny lot in front of the shop, there's plenty at Ala moana. Yes you have to walk across the street, but honestly it's not even that bad. read more

Sweet Creams makes ice cream rolls like the ones from Thailand that you have probably seen in Facebook videos. I have been stalking Sweet Creams @sweetcreams808 on Instagram for quite some time now and to my dismay could never make one of their pop-ups! I seriously even considered hiring them for an event, but my kids didn't want to celebrate their birthdays 4 and 11 months ahead. Party poopers. But great news for ice cream lovers everywhere is that Sweet Creams has opened up shop across from Ala Moana Shopping Center on 1430 Kona Street, next door to Manichi Ramen. The ice cream is not as thick as I am used to, but still so creamy and I really like that they use fresh ingredients and that I can customize my order. I read some review about hair nets and I don't recall any ice cream place I frequent or any shave ice place I go to either that requires this. I love coming here to customize my own order. I highly recommend putting cereal inside of the ice cream rolls. I like the crunchiness mixed into the creaminess of the ice cream. I tried monkey 'n around before, but still prefer making my own order. I will say that the hand roll ice cream is not as thick or creamy as places I have tried in New York, but nonetheless have already revisited this place twice. I like how they offer a keiki and large size. The keiki was more than filling for me. They have a parking lot outside, but I can imagine that when there are a lot of people, it can easily become congested. And also that your ice cream order will take a while to arrive. Rolled ice cream just like Thailand without paying for airfare? Uh duh, yes please!!! Sweet Creams first started with pop ups at different events but now they have opened their own store. Located behind Thank Q Pocha and next to Mainichi Ramen. There's a small parking lot but it can get full pretty quick. We went on a Friday night (yes bad idea I know). The line was out the door but it was about a 25 min wait. With flavors like cookies and cream, hot cocoa, matcha, strawberry shortcake and more it was a hard pick to choose from. Sizes comes in Keiki ($5) or Small ($7). The keiki is a perfect size. We decided to get the cookies and cream and the pineapple 5-0. Previously I've tried their strawberry shortcake at a pop up and that was really good. After ordered we waited and watch the magic happen. The icecream artist began to chop things up here and there which sort of reminded me of cold stone icecream. She smooth out the icecream then started to make rolls. Such a cool process to observe! After she put on a lot of different toppings on each of our cups. I really enjoyed the cookies and cream. It wasn't too sweet at all, however the pineapple 5-0 was def too sweet. We were kind of bummed because we thought the pineapple would have counteract the sweetness. It's okay though 2 out of 3 flavors I've tried is not too bad!
