Clean establishment, good service, and fair prices. Create your own, self serve froyo.

    $5.50 for this yuck!

One advantage this place has over the West Hartford location is the parking. Parking is a breeze but the benefits stop there. I stopped at this Sweet Frog because I didn't want to drive down route 10. The prices are comparable to Kiwi Spoon and Froyo World. I was disappointed with the flavors. The froyo here tastes artificial. My taste buds have been extremely sensitive to artificial flavoring so I have been extremely critical. They have plenty of flavors but i didn't like the quality of the froyo. If I'm going to pay at least $5 for a cup I expect to get all my pennies worth! Toppings were depressing. Canned fruit!!!? If I can help it I don't eat anything from a can! You can't charge premium prices and put out canned fruits for toppings at a froyo place!!! The young man working that evening was nice but it won't be enough to bring me back. Oh you have to print out the coupon from the Sweet Frog app to save 15% LAME!! Even with the savings the froyo costs me $$$. Another annoying thing, business owners please educate your staff you can't charge customers for the weight of the cups. I bought two cups and was told I had to put both cups on the scale... Which means I was charged for the wt of the cups. It's not much but it's about the principle.

As far as the world of froyo is concerned, Sweet Frog doesn't fall on the top of my list. This location is fine to visit, as there isn't any competition within a 15+ minute drive. The location is great, off street private lot with plenty of parking. It is planted between a Chinese eatery and pizza pub, so it is an easy after meal snack. It is always clean, well and stocked. And empty. I don't think I've been in this location with more than 1 other party. This makes a nice enjoyable experience when you've got a 2 year old. The toppings could be fresher, the cookies can be stale and the fruit doesn't always look particularly fresh. The froyo choices aren't the best either. They don't seem to rotate that often and aren't the best to begin with. If you don't want to make the trek to downtown West Hartford(Sweet Frog) or CCSU(off-campus Froyo-World), this place will do.

Located in the small plaza to the right of Walgreens. Trendy decor, very modern and bright. Entire wall of flavors, and the most toppings I've ever seen in one froyo spot. Awesomeness I can remember off the top of my head: marshmallow, HOT fudge and caramel, multiple flavors of popping boba, chunks of mini powdered donuts, and of course all the standard fruits, candies and crunchies. I hope they thrive and bring a little more life to Olde Canal Square. I'm personally excited to have frozen yogurt so nearby to me now instead of having to head down Rt. 10 into Southington for Kiwi Spoon.

Half of the machines are not working. The cheesecake flavor was bland, didn't taste like anything.

The store itself is small. Menu is clearly printed on the wall. We chose a two scoop ice screen sundae. The presentation was so cute because they put a small umbrella on top! And the people are really nice too. They've been in business for 3 years which I found to be incredible. Why? There were no crowds. Then, we discovered the flavors were so good. Thick, creamy and bursting with flavor. Wow! I ran back and bought a quart to take home. Was I on a diet? Ok, I will be sure to savor it for a month. But this was really so good, I couldn't help myself. A good thing too cuz the hubby had finished the sundae by the time I got back. If you enjoy really good ice cream, want to treat your loved ones or bring a smile to your kids face, this is the place for you. And did I mention it was reasonably priced? Guess you'll have to visit to find out...

In the case of Tulmeadow Farm and Lacroix's Homemade (I'm posting the same update for both), I have to admit that I had it somewhat wrong. Both Tulmeadow and Lacroix's made @cticecreamtour's Top 15 CT Creameries. My original reviews for both Tulmeadow and Lacroix's were both good btw. I just didn't initially connect with the flavors I tried in the way that I did with my other CT favorites. Since those initial reviews, everything I tried at each has been a banger. At Lacroix's, I've now had Banana ice cream, Peanut Butter Cup ice cream, Biscoff ice cream and a Sundae with coconut caramel ice cream and a S'mores flavor. The sundae with hot fudge, peanut butter sauce, whipped cream and maybe the best cherry I've ever had in a sundae (don't know what they did) was great, but it's harder to pick out the flavors of the ice cream with all the delicious toppings. The ice cream seemed very good though. The Peanut Butter Cup flavor was outstanding. Very rich with big gobs of cups. The banana flavor was amazingly realistic. And the Biscoff was very good too. While Lacroix's is very popular and there is always a steady flow of business, I like that I get access to the friendly owners there too. Lacroix's is 5 Stars and I'm updating my review.

It looked really good and she mentioned her friend always got the buffalo chicken baked potato so I got that. Potato was a bit undercooked, basic buffalo sauce and a couple of frozen chicken fingers. It was topped with cheddar and sour cream - some blue cheese in there would have been nice. I wouldn't order this dish again. My son had the Mac and cheese which was good. Both my wife and daughter got the chicken penne vodka which was really really good. My son loved, even if he was a bit scared of, the cupcake with the sparkler. Would definitely come back, just ordering something different next time. Other people's burgers looked great.

The small restaurant was like a deli with several tables inside and a lovely outdoor patio that really elevated its overall atmosphere. We placed our order at the inside counter and grabbed a table outside. Throughout our visit, we experienced extremely pleasant and gracious service from Fina and a young man, both of whom were cooking and delivering the food. Though this caused things to move on the slower side, they really had their system down to a science, managing our meals and the several takeout orders that I saw being collected. The lunch menu had various salads, sandwiches, and burgers on offer. I selected the Chicken Gyro, which used a real grilled chicken breast that had been sliced, rather than those pre-cut strips that always seem to contain fillers. The chicken was a tad dry, but the homemade tzatziki sauce, which was heavily infused with dill, helped to add moisture to the sandwich. I had opted for a whole wheat wrap, rather than a pita, and I loved that they had lightly toasted the completed dish, even with its inclusion of romaine lettuce and diced tomatoes. That method gave the wrap an improved texture and a slight crunch. I sampled a few of my companion's fries, which were thin, crispy, and had a real rustic flavor that resembled potato skins. They were great! Fina's Kitchen was a real gem, hidden among an industrial area and catering to the local businesses. It was a great find!
