This diner defines the problem of Long Island diners, resting on their past laurels. This diner is just boring as boring can be from the beige walls to the lack of windows and they're boring menu provides a great disappointment for the diner. The menu hasn't been updated for many years, no specials no creativity, but I can say it was a bit affordable Came for Sunday breakfast Not very busy Bland decor First no specials so why bother No creative breakfast items either No grapefruit juice...drive to the supermarket a mile away and buy a 1/2 gallon unacceptable I guess it's a budget diner no jelly provided either. Coffee was hot and not burnt..this was good Had a farmers omelette made perfectly My guest had a mozzarella omelette made perfectly All in all a boring affordable restaurant that when they go out of business, nobody will miss them. There are so many better diners with creative menus, creative specials that you should flock to. I'm so disappointed in you sweet Hollow diner. It's barely a two star diner

Amazing service. This place is so speedy and friendly. The food is also really good and consistent! The inside is very clean and what you'd expect from your typical diner. Would recommend and would definitely come back!!!

We came here after a funeral. This diner was recommended to us. Sweet Hallow diner is a large clean and updated diner that can accommodate large groups. I would definitely call ahead of time to reserve if you have a large group. They offer basic fresh diner food. The staff especially our waitress was fantastic and service ran so smoothly without missing a beat. Most of us ordered their burgers, wraps, grilled sandwiches, salads, couple of other dinners, plus alcoholic drinks. We came here at a perfect time after the lunch rush and before their dinner rush.

Everything you want in a diner. Great breakfasts, large portions and very good value. Excellent service.

Food was good! Nice menu with some healthy options. Service was excellent despite being very busy. The diner was totally full at lunchtime , which I think is unusual. Only real negative is the parking! There is an inadequate parking lot and we had to drive around and park on the street. That was a real negative and we said we would probably not come back because of it, but since the food and service was good, we probably will!

First time. Friends live in Melville and took us here for an early dinner on a Thursday night. We don't usually do dinner in diners, but it turned out much better than expected. The table for four was smaller than in most of the diners we go to, but we managed. Service was good, place was very clean ... even the oil and red wine vinegar carafes were clean and dry, and the food was excellent. I ordered their "Grilled Vegetable Salad," which included grilled zucchini , eggplant , corn, avocado, and sun-dried tomatoes, over romaine lettuce. The ladies (of course) both ordered salmon and salad and my buddy had the chicken stuffed with spinach with sides of potatoes and broccoli, but it was a lot, so he took home half of it. All four of us left as happy campers.

Went here for breakfast and wasn't disappointed! French onion soup was amazing and cheesy, just how I like it. Pancakes were soo good and the corn beef hash was excellent. Service was fast and place was very clean! Amazing diner!

Lets face it.... Sweet Hollow is a diner. What tends to seperate them is staff, quality of foods and comfortable setting. (much like any other restaurant.) I came here for a meeting with friends. This is a nice size spacious diner with plenty of natural light. Sat down at a booth for quite some time until we ordered. Our lovely waitress just kept pouring the coffee until we ordered. My French Toast was perfect. There was a slight crunch with a soft tasty inside. We still sat for a while until paying check and leaving. All our time there was pleasant. Perfect. I think I want to come back and try some of their additional items. Nice atmosphere, pleasant staff. You really don't need much more. KUDOs to the team at Sweet Hollow Diner.

Food remains solid and delicious. The service was very slow today but this was related to there being only one waitress working and she was still very friendly and efficient. Still a solid place to dine and enjoy.

While I've lived in NJ the past 15 years, I've spent most of my life on Long Island and have eaten at many diners there. Sweet Hollow on Rt 110 in Melville has been there for as long as I can remember. This past Friday morning, my wife and I stopped in for breakfast. Since I was last here about 7 years ago, the place has been totally remodeled. It's fine, but I always prefer the look of old school diners. The menu was not as large as some diners, but the breakfast food we ordered was fine. Parking is easy, prices average, service friendly enough. If you're in the area looking for a diner, Sweet Hollow is worth a shot.

This is my second review of this diner and it's well warranted. Since my last one, they have remodeled and revamped the entire diner. It's modern, clean and the food is good. Definitely recommend and we will be returning, frequently.

Average diner food. I did not enjoy my French toast as it was a little too eggy for me but then again I'm pretty picky with French toast. The omelette was ok, a little on the dry side. French onion soup was pretty good though. Service was fine. Overall, there's better diners nearby.

The fried calamari especially, these are probably the best I have had as they were not as chewy as most other places. Great job. Entrees came out and we were amazed at the portions and taste of the meals. Excellent dining experience. We initially came because we had a taste for oysters and saw them pictured in someone's review. We were told that oysters were a special not always available. Our meal was great nonetheless. Upon entering we noticed that the restaurant had a similar layout to another steakhouse we frequent in Old Jericho. Our server confirmed that they were indeed sister restaurants under the same umbrella. We started with the charred Octopus. It had a unique presentation served with delicious fennel and some citrus fruits. Very well prepared. For entrees we had the sea bass special which was lovely. Also the bone in ribeye was well seasoned and a perfect medium temperature. For dessert, we were thoroughly pleased with the vanilla bean cheesecake and strawberries. My least favorite part of our dining experience was the service. We had two server partners. While both very polite, one was much more attentive than the other. The bussers however were extremely courteous and helpful. Overall, we did enjoy One10 and plan to return over the summer to try some other offerings.

Heard the guy next to us order a French dip and the waiter said great, we have only 2 left. So when he came to us I ordered and he said great timing it's the last one. Took 45 minutes to get our strawberry salad which was delicious. Another 3o minutes go by (and the guy next to me who ordered the other French dip had already finished and left) So the strawberry waiter, after more than 1.15hr walk over and says "hey, we ran out of the French so I ordered you the steak sandwich. Huh? 1 hour and fifteen min later you ran out and the other guy already ate and left? I said great, but I'm not paying for it. 10 min later the owner came out. I made a reservation for two on a Saturday night, and the restaurant was pretty busy, but they had our table ready even though we arrived 30 minutes early. Our server was Evelyn, and she was so sweet and she helped us when we were trying to decide between two desserts and three appetizers. We ordered: - Spring Salad (5/5) this tasted so good with the fresh mango, the snap peas, and the carrot ginger dressing. - Faroe Islands Salmon (5/5) I only tasted the rice, and not the salmon itself, but the rice was so good, and I just kept on stealing more from the plate. - Roasted-Half Chicken (4/5) This was my own entrée, and I loved how the chicken was crispy, and I also really liked the garlic mashed potatoes, but the only thing that I did not think worked well with the dish was the swiss chard. I think it would've tasted better with spinach. - Strawberry Cheesecake (4/5) this was surprisingly very light for a cheesecake, we ended up finishing all of it, and the whipped cream was really good. The strawberries were not my favorite, I kind of wish that they were just fresh slices of strawberries, but to each their own. Unfortunately, the meat had an oddly gamey flavor that immediately raised questions about the quality or freshness. The sauce itself was decent, but it wasn't enough to save the ribs. For entrées, we ordered the steak frites and the half chicken. The steak was maybe a 5/10, and that's being generous. The meat itself was underwhelming, and the accompanying steak sauce actually made matters worse rather than complementing it. Even stranger was the side salad, which somehow had a noticeable fishy smell and taste--definitely not something you expect from a fresh salad. The half chicken was easily the biggest disappointment. It had an unpleasant flavor that came across as spoiled or rotten, to the point where it was difficult to eat. The potatoes alongside it were about a 4/10--bland and forgettable. Overall, much of the food had the taste and texture of something that had been frozen and reheated rather than freshly prepared. Ironically, the fries may have been the best thing we ate all night. Then again, fries are a pretty low bar to clear--and thankfully, they managed not to mess those up. The restaurant was also a bit chilly inside, which didn't help the experience. And on a less serious note, the Diet Coke deserves a mention. Put it next to a McDonald's Diet Coke--and we all know McDonald's is the gold standard--and this one is just sad. I don't enjoy leaving overly negative reviews, but when you're paying restaurant prices, there should be a baseline expectation of freshness and quality. Between the questionable ribs, fishy salad, poor steak, and especially the chicken, this meal fell well below that standard. Food: 3/10 Atmosphere: 6/10 Fries: Somehow the MVP
