This diner defines the problem of Long Island diners, resting on their past laurels. This diner is just boring as boring can be from the beige walls to the lack of windows and they're boring menu provides a great disappointment for the diner. The menu hasn't been updated for many years, no specials no creativity, but I can say it was a bit affordable Came for Sunday breakfast Not very busy Bland decor First no specials so why bother No creative breakfast items either No grapefruit juice...drive to the supermarket a mile away and buy a 1/2 gallon unacceptable I guess it's a budget diner no jelly provided either. Coffee was hot and not burnt..this was good Had a farmers omelette made perfectly My guest had a mozzarella omelette made perfectly All in all a boring affordable restaurant that when they go out of business, nobody will miss them. There are so many better diners with creative menus, creative specials that you should flock to. I'm so disappointed in you sweet Hollow diner. It's barely a two star diner

Amazing service. This place is so speedy and friendly. The food is also really good and consistent! The inside is very clean and what you'd expect from your typical diner. Would recommend and would definitely come back!!!

We came here after a funeral. This diner was recommended to us. Sweet Hallow diner is a large clean and updated diner that can accommodate large groups. I would definitely call ahead of time to reserve if you have a large group. They offer basic fresh diner food. The staff especially our waitress was fantastic and service ran so smoothly without missing a beat. Most of us ordered their burgers, wraps, grilled sandwiches, salads, couple of other dinners, plus alcoholic drinks. We came here at a perfect time after the lunch rush and before their dinner rush.

Food was good! Nice menu with some healthy options. Service was excellent despite being very busy. The diner was totally full at lunchtime , which I think is unusual. Only real negative is the parking! There is an inadequate parking lot and we had to drive around and park on the street. That was a real negative and we said we would probably not come back because of it, but since the food and service was good, we probably will!

First time. Friends live in Melville and took us here for an early dinner on a Thursday night. We don't usually do dinner in diners, but it turned out much better than expected. The table for four was smaller than in most of the diners we go to, but we managed. Service was good, place was very clean ... even the oil and red wine vinegar carafes were clean and dry, and the food was excellent. I ordered their "Grilled Vegetable Salad," which included grilled zucchini , eggplant , corn, avocado, and sun-dried tomatoes, over romaine lettuce. The ladies (of course) both ordered salmon and salad and my buddy had the chicken stuffed with spinach with sides of potatoes and broccoli, but it was a lot, so he took home half of it. All four of us left as happy campers.

Went here for breakfast and wasn't disappointed! French onion soup was amazing and cheesy, just how I like it. Pancakes were soo good and the corn beef hash was excellent. Service was fast and place was very clean! Amazing diner!

Lets face it.... Sweet Hollow is a diner. What tends to seperate them is staff, quality of foods and comfortable setting. (much like any other restaurant.) I came here for a meeting with friends. This is a nice size spacious diner with plenty of natural light. Sat down at a booth for quite some time until we ordered. Our lovely waitress just kept pouring the coffee until we ordered. My French Toast was perfect. There was a slight crunch with a soft tasty inside. We still sat for a while until paying check and leaving. All our time there was pleasant. Perfect. I think I want to come back and try some of their additional items. Nice atmosphere, pleasant staff. You really don't need much more. KUDOs to the team at Sweet Hollow Diner.

Food remains solid and delicious. The service was very slow today but this was related to there being only one waitress working and she was still very friendly and efficient. Still a solid place to dine and enjoy.

While I've lived in NJ the past 15 years, I've spent most of my life on Long Island and have eaten at many diners there. Sweet Hollow on Rt 110 in Melville has been there for as long as I can remember. This past Friday morning, my wife and I stopped in for breakfast. Since I was last here about 7 years ago, the place has been totally remodeled. It's fine, but I always prefer the look of old school diners. The menu was not as large as some diners, but the breakfast food we ordered was fine. Parking is easy, prices average, service friendly enough. If you're in the area looking for a diner, Sweet Hollow is worth a shot.

This is my second review of this diner and it's well warranted. Since my last one, they have remodeled and revamped the entire diner. It's modern, clean and the food is good. Definitely recommend and we will be returning, frequently.

Average diner food. I did not enjoy my French toast as it was a little too eggy for me but then again I'm pretty picky with French toast. The omelette was ok, a little on the dry side. French onion soup was pretty good though. Service was fine. Overall, there's better diners nearby.

Came here with family and we all enjoyed!…read more We each got a different type of omelette, Cobb, Ruben, broccoli and cheese, cheddar cheese, plain and someone also ordered pancakes. Everyone stated how great everything tasted! I ordered the Cobb omelette which had bacon, avocado and cheddar and it was delicious! Omelettes were severed with a choice of potato; tator tots, fries or home fries. We all basically had one of each and again, all delicious! Coffee was great too, and never empty. Our server (I wish I got his name!) was great! Bathrooms were also very clean. Our only complaint was the small parking lot.

I have a medical condition called PKU, where I can't break down protein like everyone else. I've eaten at this diner for as long as i've been in farmingdale, and at most restaurants, french fries are usually the only things i can eat when going out because of it being gluten free and lower in protein. Their fries were the only things i was able to eat there, but I can't anymore because the fries are coated in some sort of breading, which is dangerous for me to eat. I know many other people who are disappointed with this, and especially others who are gluten free or have extremely strict dietary restriction/requirements. It's really sad that I can't eat here anymore when places i can eat at are so scarce. The fact that the recipe change wasn't made known to us was very disappointing as well. No harm is meant from this.. I just wanted to put it out there.

The service was fantastic; our server was very attentive with drinks and took our orders promptly. The whole family loved the food! We ordered the Huevos Rancheros, almond pancakes, cannoli French toast, eggs Benedict, a grilled cheese sandwich, and the Salvadoran platter. Everything we get here is consistently delicious, zero complaints! The drinks were great too, including the watermelon juice, regular coffee, and lattes. We couldn't be happier with the service and the food. I will always recommend My Grandmother's Kitchen for brunch! Vinimos a desayunar el jueves para celebrar el cumpleaños de mi hija. We went on Juneteenth, and I guess the restaurant didn't realize that people were off from school…read moreand work. My group was slightly bigger, so we were sat upstairs. They asked for drink orders and we were left alone for a long time until the drinks arrived. Though we were ready to order, the server just dropped off our drinks and went to bring another table upstairs. I went down to the counter to get someone to take our order, and it took nearly an hour before our order was in (and even then, they took the order of the second table before taking our party's order). It was almost an hour and a half since we entered the restaurant when the food finally arrived at our table, and then it took so long for someone to come with our check and process payment, we went down to the counter to do it. During this time, another family was seated upstairs and left due to not being attended to. This caused big delays in our day and I had to cancel an appointment because we spent over two hours at this restaurant when we didn't want to. That said, food was good. I got the lemon blueberry pancake, which was a little bit gummy but mostly tasted fine. My brother got the mangu, which is kinda hard to find around here, let alone on the menu of a breakfast brunch restaurant. It was my brother's first time having it, and he thoroughly enjoyed it. Besides him choosing scrambled eggs instead of fried eggs, it was very classic mangu breakfast. The real crabmeat omelet was another hit-- crabmeat was so real there were little pieces of shell lining-- really ambitious and deliciously executed. The menu is really fun and the food was overall good. Again, I think the very slow service wasn't on purpose and it's because they didn't anticipate such a large crowd on a Friday, but I would say run if they try to seat you upstairs and you're the only ones up there. Be prepared to wait for a long time if you want the reward of nice food.
