They started with a complimentary shrimp appetizer, but unfortunately we told the server we did not eat shrimp. He was surprised but then asked if we might like edamame, which we did. The shrimp dish did look good and was surprised they would give a more expensive complimentary dish. Anyway, nice menu and all tasty . My only negative comment is to recommend NOT to sit at the table in front of the door . It opens frequently and at least during the winter is very cold, not to mention that the headlights on the other side can go right in your eyes. Other than that , it's really a great new addition . We went for lunch, two of us. First of all, the restaurant is beautiful. Contemporary decor, very elegantly done. We sat in a booth by the window and it was lovely. The only negative about the ambiance was that it was quite loud. The high ceilings didn't do much to absorb sound, so it was hard to hear my companion unless we leaned forward and spoke pretty loudly. The booth was very comfortable, the table spotless, and even the menu was clean (a small pet peeve of mine). The tap water came in a beautiful glass with a straw, although the water itself tasted a bit chemical-like. They have a lunch menu with very reasonable prices. We ordered a sushi-sashimi combo and stir-fried soba with vegetables. The lunch menu is limited, so they also gave us the regular menu. Oddly, only 1 regular menu was provided for 2 people, so we had to keep passing it back and forth. It's an easy fix that would make browsing much easier. We ended up ordering an appetizer and a signature roll from the regular menu too. The lunch specials came with salad or soup. We chose the salad, which was mostly romaine with a typical Japanese dressing. The portion was larger than expected for a side salad, and the lettuce was fresh and crunchy. Our appetizer was the Lobster Tapas: "Spicy lobster & shrimp wrapped with seared pepper tuna." This was delicious. There were 5 little towers with very fresh ingredients and 2 excellent sauces--a chunky green sauce and a sweeter orange sauce. The tuna was flavorful and very tender. At this point we were already planning to come back with the rest of the family. Next came the sushi-sashimi combo. There were 9 pieces of sashimi beautifully presented on ice, plus 3 pieces of sushi and a spicy tuna roll. The sashimi was very fresh, tender, and flavorful, especially the tuna. Unfortunately, the spicy tuna roll was the weak point. It tasted dry, lacked flavor, and seemed to contain far more crunchy fillers than tuna. It reminded me of a meatball with too much breadcrumb and not enough meat. I'd rather have a smaller roll with better-quality fish than a larger one padded with fillers. The spicy tropical roll was also disappointing. It too seemed to contain more fillers than fish, and the sauce was a little too sweet. It didn't taste fish-forward enough for a "signature" roll. The flavors leaned more fusion than authentic Japanese. If ingredient cost is the issue, I'd gladly pay a few dollars more for a better fish-to-filler ratio. The stir-fried soba with "vegetables" was also disappointing. The noodles didn't taste like Japanese buckwheat soba, and the both the taste + presentation reminded me of instant ramen. The flavor was decent but nothing memorable, and there were only a few pieces of zucchini--nowhere near enough vegetables to justify the name of the dish. The service was good overall. Our server was very sweet and friendly but definitely could use more training. While we were both trying to read the single menu, she interrupted to take our order instead of asking if we needed another minute--or even better, bringing us a second menu. Not a huge issue, but not especially pro or polished. As we were finishing, we ordered a couple of takeout items for a family member. The server kindly offered to package our leftovers with the takeout, which was appreciated. However, when the bill arrived, 1 of the takeout dishes was missing. It took a while to get her attention, and when we did, she reprinted the check without explaining how much longer the forgotten item would take. She did swing back to say she'd ask the chef to expedite, but we still waited quite a while, making us late for a meeting. As for the takeout, the Valentine Roll was just ok, similar to the signature roll we had at lunch. We also ordered a tuna roll, yellowtail roll, and sweet potato roll. None were bad, but they lacked the flavor we expected. Whether it was the rice or the ingredients, they just didn't stand out. Overall, it was a nice lunch. The beautiful restaurant, fresh sashimi, generous salad, and excellent appetizer showed a lot of promise. Unfortunately, too many of the rolls relied on fillers instead of fish, the soba missed the mark, and there were a few service missteps. I found our new favorite Japanese restaurant! From the hostesses to the bartender, everyone was a delight. Great service and food while eating at the bar. This is a brand new addition to Woodbury and we are so glad to have it. Plenty of booths, tables and hightops in a beautiful setting make this a perfect night out for an upscale meal that won't break the bank. When given the option we will most usually sit at the bar to take everything in and there is seating for about a dozen patrons there with plenty of elbow room. A private lot makes parking a breeze as well. There is a separate room for the chef's tasting menu and we are told that the menu changes frequently. This is a solid menu and restaurant from one of the original owners of Kashi now split up. Please, just leave us a seat if you decide to go as often as we plan to. read more

I had an incredible time celebrating two family members' birthdays here! The decor and ambience is incredible, and all the servers were so nice and accommodating. The lunch special is a crazy good value for the amount of food you get. We ordered a lot since we were a big party, but I had stir fried udon and the sushi bento as well as a bit of the kitchen bento. My favorite dishes were the Sex on a Beach roll, the spring roll, and the udon. They also stored our two birthday cakes, helped put candles on our cakes for us and helped us light the candles. We are always looking for good and affordable sushi places near west Babylon. We decided to stray off our beaten path one afternoon and visited Mihana in the Mayfair Shopping Center in Commack. This shopping center has changed so much from when I was younger and growing up in Brentwood! All improvements for the better! I'm so glad we gave Mihana a chance. It's well worth the drive up Sagtikos Pkwy for us. I absolutely love their Yakitori skewers for times I am trying to eat lower carb / high protein. I will get a mix of meat and veggies and not even feel tempted by the sushi. However, my son loves their hand rolls and you can see we had a nice tray of sushi on this particular night. The service is always fantastic. The staff really cares and we often have friendly conversations. We never have to wait long. It's quiet, nicely decorated, clean and spacious. Very nice place, nice decor. Staff was nice, it was Monday so part of my review that should be put into play. It took the staff about 15 min to come to the table and ask for drinks. We ordered Clams (out of stock), then the crab cocktail (out of stock) and finally got the shrimp cocktail, got it last!, the shrimp was a bit over cooked and cocktail sauce had no bite. We first we received the entrees. Truffle scallops, scallops cooked perfect and risotto was very nice. My Treasure Island was delicious but very small. It was on 1/2 an avocado (perfect tenderness) with spicy tuna and octopus, so maybe a cup worth but amazing. The Philadelphia roll was nice just a bit too much cream cheese. The shrimp tempura was nice, just a bit messy on the ends. Overall a nice place and we will go back again, just not on Monday. read more

I'm always looking for great sushi places in Long Island, and Mihana did not disappoint. I visited to try their lunch menu as well as other main dishes. The atmosphere is very clean and modern. Service is amazing, very attentive. The fish is fresh, and other cooked dishes are very tasty. I appreciate their unique dishes that set them apart from other Japanese restaurants around the area, like their marinated octopus and wagyu--both prepared and cooked to perfection. For lunch, they offer a great variety of options, including a sushi and special roll bento box, as well as your usual order of 2 or 3 rolls. One of the other main reasons why I'll be coming back is the price! Prices in this area are expected to be much higher than average, BUT Mihana's menu is VERY affordable. We've been weekly regulars at Mihana and was very glad to see them catching on and taking off unfortunately our last two visits were incredibly disappointing. The first visit I'd ordered steak teriyaki without onions. It got served with onions and there was a lot of confusion getting the order corrected, when it came out the vegetables were without onions, but room temperature, and the steak was less than room temperature. One of the pieces of steak also still had silver skin attached, which was impossible to see with the sauce coating. No accommodations were made. We decided to give them another try and ordered calamari, followed by shrimp and vegetable tempura. After waiting over 20 minutes for our calamari, we asked the wait staff what happened to our order and we were told that the first server forgot to put the order in. Note that we are sitting right by the service station and no one noticed that we were sitting there for over 20 minutes without getting any food. I also noticed that our sushi order was sitting on the side of the sushi bar waiting waiting waiting. When we were told that they were putting in the calamari order they had to first turn on the oil and heat it up so it was going to be a while and I asked them to please be careful and not fire the tempura until we were finished with the calamari so the tempura didn't get cold waiting for us to finish, I told us to two different servers and wouldn't you know it we're half done with the calamari and the tempura comes out now there's a big fuss at the table which I'm not a fan of, but I don't want them to take the tempo back and waste the food. The manager comes over and wants to know what he can do for us and we said basically fix your systems. You've got problems. We don't want an accommodation. He offered us free dessert. We told him we did not want dessert. He comes over again a little while later basically trying to convince us that he needs to do something for us to make it better and we keep telling him we're not looking for anything. I did order two pieces of yellowtail sushi because by the time I got to the tempura, it had cooled off and was not as tasty as it could've been. We finished eating and the next thing we know they're bringing over dessert and we told him to take it away, We told them we didn't want it already and at this point the supervisor keeps saying we want to do something for you. What can we do to make you happy and I said what would make me happy is being left to finish my food and not having someone constantly come over. Then when they bring the check, they tell us that he made a slight accommodation it's not much but it's something and I said it's something to make you feel better. We didn't ask for anything. Talk about a slight accommodation. It was a six dollar discount so we have reconsidered being regulars not because of the low amount but because they cannot listen to their customer, not saying I'll never go back but very disappointed in both of our last two meals and being harassed by the manager. read more

This place just opened three days ago we had been waiting to come since we saw it was being built. It was definitely worth the wait, The Kani salad was light and refreshing. We also ordered the tricolor sushi appetizer, which was very fresh. The sushi sashimi premium for two was exceptionally good. This neighborhood has a lot of Asian food and it's difficult to stand out. This place is definitely off to the right start. We even ordered deserts. However, the portions were surprisingly small for the price. I don't mind paying a premium for quality, but the quantity just didn't justify the cost. Chicken teriyaki, miso soup and calamari, shrimp shumai, gyoza, Shrimp teriyaki, and vegetable hibachi and salad. The teriyaki sauce was perfectly balanced in flavor. It was delicate, not thick and overly sweet, just perfect! I was impressed. What a lovely lunch! My only critique was the larger pieces of calamari was a bit rubbery. And the fried rice was a bit bland. Portions were ample and so happy we got to have a great meal. I don't know how long this place has been open, it look and felt like it was fairly new. Excellent! The fish was extremely fresh. I have had my fair share of sashimi and Mihana takes the cake.. the fish was butter! We were sat immediately with no reservation, timing was good because it was packed shortly after. If you like Lychee give the martini a go! Next time I'm in Long Island I will be back! read more
