We went to the Hidden Ships distillery and then came over here for a low key easy quick dinner. You order at the counter and then they bring them out to you. They have several tables inside to enjoy your food (one side is a booth and the other side has chairs). The onion jam was a little overpowering (kept burping it up/tasting it the rest of the night). I would probably get it on the side if I got it again or maybe just get it without! The homemade pita chips were a nice touch for something different. read more

Very tasty! Had the surf city smash and it was surely a blue ribbon winner. Really liked the flour tortillas that came with it, different twist. The 3-hour caramelized onion bacon jam was AWESOME! Wish it was spread out a little more on the burgers. read more

Let me start by saying the employees are first class! They great you like you being there has made their day! I checked out the menu online before we arrived. It's simple and that means they do things right! I got the single surf city smash which has the caramelized onion bacon jam! That jam is what I was waiting for! We split an order of fries because they also serve tiny pita chips with your burger. Not sure how those came about, but I'm surely not mad about it! They were warm and soft and lightly salted. You could order a soft drink or a beer, but I didn't need anything at that moment. We sat inside, reminds me a little of surf dog on the island- order at the counter, find a table and they'll bring the food out to you. Great service tho! I am a local and finally came in to taste the famous Surf City Smash burger. It was a Wednesday around lunch time and still early in the season so I was able to order right away. The ask for your name and number so they can text you when your order is done. I ordered the double Surf City Smash and nothing else. It is pretty big and it comes with a side of flour tortilla chips. (Not crunchy) So it was okay, I'm not sure if it was the jam that just didn't do it for me or the sauce it was hard to tell. Like I said it is a big portion so you will be full. I like to give places a second try so I will be back and maybe try their N Topsail burger with tater tots! It's a cute spot and if you want a beer to go with that, well Salt Marsh and Salty Turtle is right next door. read more

Big portion for a double Surf City Smash Burger but was highly disappointed in the taste. Bacon jam and grilled onions had a strong and unenjoyable taste that was unfamiliar in comparison to other bacon jams/grilled onions. Both avoided eating the whole burger that contained the onions/ bacon jam. There's not much seasoning/ "golden crust" on patty for that great taste. Tortilla chips did not taste like tortilla chips. Tots were fine for what they are. Pretty pricey, around $45+ for this meal. Unique taste but not my best experience. read more

In fact, this is my second time here to order it this week and it was just as fantastic. My friend had the patty melt and she said she loved it. The crispy fries are so good. The service was friendly and timely. Our food was brought out to us at our table and we were checked on multiple times. The ambiance is welcoming but it is busy and therefore a little loud. I cannot recommend this burger restaurant enough. The staff is super friendly and helpful, knowing the menu like the back of their hand and explaining everything. All their ingredients is fresh and never frozen for if they run out they run out they do not keep extra stock in the freezer. With every bite of the burger, you can taste the freshness and fill the crunch of the burger that was just toasted for you. The special jam sauce that is on the smash burgers is nothing but amazing and adds great flavor to the burger. The Smashburger patties are huge for they are sticking far off the bun, but that soak perfectly cooked that you want to eat up every bite. They do tortilla chips on the side instead of fries, which I think is very cool. They are fried and slightly salted and they are great. Everyone of the staff is very respectful and nice and smiling and helping you in any way that they can. Even the owner George goes around and gives the kids little toys or are stickers while are there are there. The owner is very respectful and very attentive to not only the customers, but to a staff as well, jumping in on the line and helping when he can, he is a cheerleader in the front and showing the way instead of just telling them the way. I highly recommend this burger joint to anyone to visiting or living local or is it a local that owns the restaurant and we must support each other. You order at the counter and staff brings your made-to-order food. The surf city smash burger comes with bacon onion jam (which is bacon and onions cooked down for hours until it is like a taste of heaven) cheese, and pickles. It just hits. The flour chips are addictive and the fries are battered and super crunchy. We loved it so much that we returned two days later for a replay. Best lunch of our trip--hands down! So this place was PACKED the first time we went so we opted to go elsewhere. We came a little later the next day and it was much easier to get in. I like that this place has a very limited menu. They know what they're good at and stick with it. The smash burger was REALLY good...but I didn't think the fries were great...and must be purchased separately. The burger already comes with these fried triangles that were delicious so fries were unnecessary. For the price it was a little expensive for just a burger but not too bad. Came here on a Saturday after an afternoon at the beach around 5 pm. We were able to get a parking spot easily and we went right up to the counter to order. The menu is pretty small with a burger, Philly sandwich, sides, and grilled cheese. I ordered the Topsail Burger with a side of tater tots and really enjoyed it! It hit the spot after the beach. The inside had a couple tables inside and a bar. We were able to grab a table. Burger bun was so soft. I loved that the burger came with the pita chips! The chips were warm and crunchy! Delicious! Such amazing food and service! We went here our second day on vacation. It was very busy and took about 30 minutes to get our food, but it was well worth the wait. We ordered the burgers as well as a fried chicken sandwich, and everything was so good. Everybody's meal came with these fried pita chips that were amazing. We had such a great experience that we came back our last day of vacation. It was much less busy for lunch. Mark was the employee taking our order, and he provided us with a spectacular customer experience. He made us feel so welcomed and took great care of us.
