It is insulting to be told by this store's manager that I should have to police their employees' behavior by announcing when I am "not in the mood for conversation" just to be left alone. When I pushed back on this toxic excuse, management simply ghosted me, proving they have no interest in professional standards. I am not here to train your staff on basic social decency, nor should any customer have to sacrifice their dignity just to make a purchase. I will be happily driving an extra five minutes to a store with class that respects its patrons; if you value your peace, dignity and privacy, I suggest you do the same. If you're going to enforce a rule that literally turns people away, the least you could do is communicate what that rule actually is. Instead, I was just left standing there confused and bounced. Service wasn't helpful or accommodating in this situation, and it definitely didn't feel welcoming. If your policy is going to discriminate based on the format of someone's ID rather than their age, that's something customers deserve to know before they make the trip.
