We decided to eat an early dinner here after a visit to the transportation museum. We came at an off time so we did not have a reservation but were seated right away. Our server was so nice and he did a good job considering he was the only server when we came in. The sweet tea was excellent. We tried the brie appetizer and it was ok. There was a bit too much berry compote for me. For my entree, I had the tuna sandwich and salad. Both were delicious, light, and fresh. The tuna portion was generous. The bacon tomato vinaigrette was delicious. My son ordered the mousse pie for dessert and it was very good. Next time I would like to try their homemade strudel. The atmosphere is cool and relaxing. We came here for brunch based on the good reviews. It's a cute little place in downtown. We didn't realize they took reservations but they were able to get us seated fairly quickly. They were quick to take our order but the food took about 30mins to come out. It was really good - but not sure it was worth the long wait. The most disappointing thing was the service. No one ever came to check on us & despite a guy randomly going to different tables to refill coffee & water, I had to go to the bar to get a refill of my tea after my glass sat empty for a good 10mins. And even then it was refilled with no ice so just lukewarm tea. Once the server saw our plates were pretty much empty he finally came back to see if we were ready for dessert or our check. By this point we had been there more than an hour so we were ready to go. Especially after hearing the chef in the back yelling at the other staff & telling them to stop rushing him. So in a nutshell, really good food but that's where the good experience stopped. They need more staff & better organization so customers don't have to go get their own poorly executed drink refills. read more

The food was amazing! We stumbled upon this hidden gem when the restaurant we intended to try was closed, boy am I glad they were. Lexi was our waitress and was amazing. She suggested the shrimp po-boy which I got with a side of fruit. The po-boy was delicious and they didn't skimp on the side of fruit. It has been awhile since we have been to Sweet Meadow Cafe...but they are just as good as ever! We ordered the dinner portion of red beans and rice. It was more than enough for us plus we took home leftovers! Looking around we saw the think pork chop which was huge and looked delicious. We also saw the mixed berry tart with ice cream for dessert and it was crisp and filled to the brim. The couple next to is was ok with me asking them how everything was...lol. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Your glass stays full and you don't have to ask for anything it is like they know what you need. Amazing dining experiance. read more

I have eaten at Sweet Meadow once in all three of there locations and was not impressed at any time. Crab cakes might have a tablespoon of crab in them as the rest is filler. The salad was a bag of mixed greens with a few grape tomatoes and some sliced cucumber. The dilled tuna, while being made from fresh tuna not canned, was apparently overcooked because it was dry; plenty of mayo though. read more

Really disappointing. After reading some good reviews we were looking forward to trying this place. My wife ordered pork chop special with "no pink" and it came out bloody and raw in the middle. When we asked our server to replace it, she came out with a plate to take back the meat (even though the raw juices were all over the potatoes and veggies. It took nearly 20 min to get the replacement plate (original refired pork chop with new sides). Berry brie was tasty but very watery and runny. Side salad was tiny and unimpressive (just greens) with a mediocre dressing. So much promise walking in, but we won't be back. read more

The outside of the restaurant does not come close to the friendly staff, wonderful food, and atmosphere! I highly recommend the Quiche with spinach and portobello mushrooms! It was a special that day and I hope they put it on the menu. I am a water lover so I always hope for great tasting water with fresh lemons, also the tea was definitely made fresh. We had the Gouda cheese appetizer that I couldn't eaten for a meal itself. We also had dessert that was warm, fresh with a scoop of ice cream. Amazing jewel to find. Also seating outside. read more

Amazing! Tried this place blind off the highway, and everything we got was great. Olive Tapenade was super fresh and the naan points we're on point. I hate myself a little bit for that but I'm leaving it in. I got the black bean burgers, my wife got tomato basil soup and the seared goat cheese salad - loved all of it. Nice to find a good, vegetarian friendly spot for lunch so we can shout obscenities at Panera while driving past instead of having to resignedly pay $14 for a grilled cheese sandwich. read more

Got off of I-85, had time to kill and didn't want fast foodY'all. Y'all. This. Place. Is. It. Everything was on point. The appetizers, the entree and the deserts were all super flavorful and presented extremely well. While this place is a quirky hole in the wall, the dining was very upscale and it was all cooked to serve. The prices are very reasonable and we left saying we'd make the hour commute to come back soon. The chef and wait staff were very friendly and they really made us feel at home. The restaurant is only a short drive from the exit and all of our menu choices were fantastic -- baked brie with berries, sushimi tuna salad, and the tomato, bacon salad with chicken. Went there for the first time today. Had the Sunday Brunch Stuffed French Toast. It was absolutely delicious.

As a picky eater that walked into the wrong restaurant, I was a little worried about finding something I would eat. Not a fan of vegetables. I ordered a Muffalata , with only meat and the side of fruit. When the waitress came with my meal, she said the sandwich looked kind of sad so the chef doubled the meat at no charge. And it was absolutely delicious. The deli turkey, ham and salami was very fresh. Nothing like what you get at the grocery store. The fruit was also very fresh and the plating was beautiful. The staff was very friendly and I also was happy to see that the restaurant offered gender neutral bathrooms amid all the ongoing controversy in NC regarding this issue. Overall this place was an absolute great find. I look forward to going back next time I am in the area. read more

Start to finish outstanding! 8 of us went for brunch after reading the yelp reviews. We are all from Minnesota seeing friends who live here now. The owner was on site and introduced herself and shared a little bit of the history of the restaurant with us. She was so friendly and seemed excited to see us they moved everything around to accommodate a large group. The place filled up quickly afterwards so we were lucky we came at 11 instead of noon and I'm glad we did. The waitress made several recommendations on what to try and apparently the crab cakes are a local favorite. We tried them and they were not wrong. Wow. The aiolis, dressings and sauces are all scratch made in house. The quality and presentation was nothing short of what you'd expect from a 5 star chef. The pan fried goat cheese and roasted red pepper crab dip are all amazing. We ordered a second helping just to take some home for later . I had the tuna melt and the portion was huge. See pics! We tried almost everything on the menu lolol. Not a single thing disappoints. The server was very knowledgeable on the menu and the service was Impeccable. Have a mimosa or Bloody Mary while you are there and enjoy great views of quaint downtown with fantastic food. 5 stars all the way. Service was 100% excellent. They accommodated 20 adults and 4 children at a weeks notice after EMMA's Restaurant decided NOT to accommodate our large party. I decided to go here because the group wanted vegan options. I'm not a vegan so let me get rid of any anxiety for the carnivorous here. There are plenty of meat based options. I got the vegetarian burrito, my mother got the portabello salad, and my father got the half duck. I personally tried all three dishes. The duck was crispy and perfectly cooked, the salad was simple and delicious with the mushroom grilled to juicy perfection and my burrito was fun with the chunky veggies and the unique kiwi mango salsa. My vegan friends who got us to try this little gem were both more than pleased as well. While the duck was of course pricey because well it's duck the majority of the menu was reasonable around 8-10 dollar range. If you're in a hurry however I wouldn't recommend coming here. It took us quite a while to get our food. Of course it takes a while to make duck so maybe it was just this experience. Anyway I felt the wait was worth it. Sweet Meadow has been on my 5 star list for years. I have been a patron in all of their locations and this was a great place I would bring visitors for a knock your socks off dining experience. Not always perfect but the owners / managers have made good on the few small errors in the past. - Alas I do not recommend this restaurant anymore. 2 stars only for good prior service. - I have not been there in over a year due to an epic dining failure. I ordered the pork chop which I have gotten several times over the years and it was always excellent in the past. (Sides & soups are great!) The piece of meat that night looked good but turned out to be over 60% fat and gristle. I mentioned it to the water. He acknowledged me but made no comment. - I asked for management without response. I only ate about 30% of the chop because I was disappointed and becoming upset at the lack of customer service. I sent it back and saw staff inspect my less than half eaten meal. (Thought there would be a response after that!) When the waiter brought the check he seemed irritated when I again voiced my disappointment. In a surly manner said well "I can give you a dessert". (No Go for me due to health issues) - I just paid and left. Got something else to eat later. - Extra disappointing experience as I have met and talked to the owners several times. I also supported this restaurant when they were having tough times. - Sadly I cannot recommend this restaurant that used to be known for a great atmosphere and exemplary customer service. - When you treat a regular poorly you lose them and all that they warn. read more

The meal wasn't as good as the last time. The home-fries served at brunch are thinly cut red skin pot. boiled then topped w/onions (not appetizing). The French toast others rave about was not dipped long enough = dry as can be inside. The server did not tell me about the specials i didn't know they had any and was disappointed as I would have ordered one of them. The tall man behind the bar kept touching his face,& hair without washing his hands and I found that annoying as he was delivering food. People on the food service industry MUST be conscious of what they are doing with their hands! As I noted before they don't have enough experienced servers/staff most fumble and/or are awkward and seem VERY inexperienced. I'd like to chalk it up to being a small town but other places in the area have seasoned experienced help. read more
