I came in with hubby & kiddos for ice cream and unfortunately left a little disappointed. There were only 6 selections and 2 of those were vegan (which is impressive if you are eating vegan, but seeing as we are not vegan it was not helpful). The ice cream was OK and we ate it but would not come back for it again. The store is super cute (which is why I gave it 3 stars instead of 2). The sidewalk chalk and magnetic letters on the front of the ice cream cooler kept my busy toddler happy. read more

This is the coolest store in Ballard, We've brought our son here a few times and he loves it too. Whoever put this store together is awesome, it just looks fantastic, its retro feeling, but also fresh looking. It's a must see, and a great addition to our neighborhood! After Sweet Mickey's opened, I eventually found an excuse to stop in and check out the cute new store. I was greeted by a sweet young lady at the counter, who promptly asked if I had been in before. Since I had not, she gave me a brief "tour" of the shop and asked if I had any questions. I was after something for my boyfriend, a lover of licorice, so she directed me towards several large jars of the stuff. I had never seen salted licorice before, and despite my usual distaste for licorice, I tasted the one she offered as a sample. I thought it was pretty good, so I bought a bag. I'm fairly sure my boyfriend had them eaten in three days. Overall, it's a great store and I look forward to trying some more of their goodies. read more

What a treat it is for us to go into this shop. I have so many options here- nostalgic favorites, sour, sweet, very special truffles, or Bluebird, the best ice cream around. The owner, Randy, and his help are all friendly and always offer tastes. Do NOT miss the fudge which is Grandma Mickey's recipe. My fav is Mint Chocolate and Red Velvet== oh, and Cappucino. Beyond that, Randy is active in neighborhood events and anxious to help keep Ballard a great community. He is active on different committees, shows movies in the park, has a lending library. When Sweet Mickey's saw my 1-star review on Yelp, they contacted me immediately to make things right. Apparently my emails had got sent to their "spam" folder and that's why they were unaware of my problem. They sent my box of fudge right away. Not only that, they refunded my money on my credit card to make up for the mistake. Really, I had not expected a box of fudge for free: this is very generous. And, the box arrived very fast. I have to say, I'm a new fan of Sweet Mickey's. If you like fudge, you'll like this. And if you love chocolate and caramel, you'll love their dark chocolate sea salt caramel fudge: it's divine. I very much enjoyed my trip to Sweet Mickeys! I found all the old but still delicious candy from my childhood. My two kids loved the 10¢ bins full of candy, what a great idea! We were greeted by a very sweet young lady and introduced to the owner who gave us a look around the store. Treated our selves to some very good ice cream in their one of there cookie cones! That's right, cookie cone... how fun! All in all I would say our first experience was amazing. We will definitely be back to Sweet Mickeys soon enough for more delicious treats! read more

Visiting Seattle from the East Coast and ran across Sweet Mickeys along with a number of other ice cream stores. My son decided on Sweet Mickeys because it doubles as a candy store. We are very glad he chose this gem of an ice cream parlor. The waffle cones were made fresh in front of us. The ice cream was perfect and the ambiance took us back in time. Sweet Mickey's is better than sliced bread! A co-worker told me about this delectible little shop and we immediately headed over there to get a mid afternoon snack. We were blown over by the adorable charm of this sweet candy shop. Walls painted in the cheeriest mint green--gosh event the bathroom is somewhere you would want to hang out with it's sparkling white porcelain fixtures and striped walls! Being a serious candy lover I was overwhelmed by the amount of candy selection that reminded me of my childhood. In addition I was introduced to more Seattle talent in the area of chocolates, confections, home made ice cream and decadent ice cream cones. The pretzel cone is first on my list to try! We had the pleasure of meeting the owner Randy who was absolutely delightful and we knew that we would be back time and time again to collect these sweet treats. One huge YES for me was when the owner told me that he had ordered in A&W Rootbeer for his floats....a midwestern girl at heart I was thrilled to know that someone else knew that this was indeed the best rootbeer float you will ever drink. I am addicted to black licorice (specifically salt licorice), and Sweet Mickey's has the best selection in Seattle. I come in for a quarter pound of dutchies at least twice a week and usually end up getting some homemade fudge to go with it. I love this store and cannot wait until my son is old enough to start selecting his own candy. Right now he has to make do with the ice-cream, but once his teeth come in, I have a sneaking suspicion that we are going to be spending a lot of time at the bulk bins. Sweet Mickeys is an old fashioned candy store with modern candy. I love his salted caramels as well as the Mountain Bars in different favors. It's been years since I had a cherry-flavored Mountain Bar (Brown and Haley makes 'em daily). Randy is a hands on owner, friendly and welcoming.
