Today wasn't the travel day I had planned. While on a work trip, I received some difficult news and had to cut the trip short and head home. Before my flight, I decided to stop at Salty's for breakfast. I'm a sucker for crab, but I wasn't especially hungry, so I ordered a cup of the chowder with crab. It turned out to be one of the best cups of chowder I've ever had--rich, flavorful, and loaded with crab. I sat at the bar, where Joyce took great care of me. Her kindness, attentiveness, and genuine hospitality made an otherwise difficult day a little easier. Great service can make a real difference, and she absolutely delivered. Salty's isn't the cheapest dining option at SEA, but between the quality of the food, the relaxed atmosphere, and the outstanding service, I think it's well worth it. If you're looking for a great meal before your flight, I'd definitely recommend giving it a try. read more

Rich, loaded with clams, easily the best thing on the table. Fries were also solid. The halibut fish & chips ($46 for three pieces) was the letdown. The fish was over-fried to the point that it fell apart as I ate it -- disappointing for a fish of that quality at that price. Halibut should hold together in firm, flaky pieces; this didn't. But the real issue was the service. What made it impossible to write off as a busy day was that my server was attentive to the table right next to me -- she asked the gentleman beside me how his meal was and refilled his water, while mine sat clearly empty and I was never checked on once. No introduction, no recommendations, no plates cleared. When I asked for something as simple as pepper, I got attitude, like I was putting her out. I typically tip 25%. I left 15% and honestly felt that was generous for what I received. At these prices, the food needs to be executed properly and the service needs to match. The chowder alone isn't enough to carry a $60+ meal. Would I come back? Maybe for a cup of chowder at the bar. Not for the full experience. read more

Well as soon as I got here- sat at the bar cuz they had PGA golf on. A huge plus for me. And other sports on the other TVs. The bar is huge. And you have huge windows near there. So it feels huge. The music is good. When I sat down - Paul greeted me and he was a really nice guy and bartender / server. And didn't make me feel like I was annoying him like most airport bartenders. The rock fish was great ! The chowder was too. The fries were better than average and a huge portion. They have charger portals too if you need that. And all the sauces. We stopped by Sally's at the Sea and it absolutely lived up to expectations. We've dined at their location on Alki before, so we already knew the food would be solid. But it's impressive how well they deliver even in an airport setting. We ordered the crab toast, blackened sockeye salmon Caesar, salmon BLT, and beignets with red velvet chocolate ice cream and every single dish was excellent. Fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared, not your typical rushed airport meal. Service was just as great, friendly, attentive, and efficient without feeling rushed. I've been through SeaTac on layovers a few times over the past couple years. I've tried two bars in the center food court area previously, so I decided to try Salty's this time. I got four gin and club sodas. I know the drink is simple but there's still the opportunity to mess it up by mistakenly using tonic instead of club soda. No issue here. The drinks were perfect and enjoyable. Service was quick and friendly. And I enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. Prices are comparable to other airport bars. Would definitely come here again. read more

starting off with the biggest feature of this dish - the price the dish cost 35 dollars, which meant with tax + tip the overall price of the dish ended up being close to 45 dollars this is quite expensive, so let me just start with that. Is it worth the price? No - it's going to be hard to justify that and this doesn't get there this is airport food - so I know this is going to have a certain premium regardless - but it's probably a better idea to buy something cheaper at the airport the only reason I went here is because I knew this meal would be covered as long as it was below 50 dollars however, just because it doesn't live up to its price doesn't mean it wasn't good in hindsight, I do wish I'd ordered something a bit more unique than what was in essence a relatively basic shrimp spaghetti, especially for the price, but I can only review what I got just a quick note - I normally don't ever mention service in my reviews because I don't really care about it - but my waitress here was incredible - so friendly, so enthusiastic, and overall enough of a wonderful and charming woman to be around that it actually improved my overall experience at this restaurant. Props to Lisa for that the pasta was pretty high quality I noticed this first in the tomato sauce - which is on a pretty different level from the cheap pasta sauces you'll find at grocery stores or cheaper italian restaurants this really did have a concentrated tomato flavor second, going off that theme, the spaghetti noodles themselves were impressive. again, at cheaper restaurants you might expect the noodles to be thinner and softer, but these noodles were thick and dense - you could tell there was a lot of dough involved here the lack of cheese was slightly disappointing - other than the sprinkle of cheese over the top - I didn't get much else of a cheese taste anywhere else the main protein here - the prawns, tasted very similar to how you would expect a shrimp to taste I did not like that they left the tail on the prawns - that made eating them a lot more annoying. I'd expect that especially in a restaurant with these price points, that the tails should have been removed however, the prawns themselves were really good. they were quite plump, which made each bite into them really satisfying, and they were cooked really well too, which meant that each bite cut through the prawn like butter. Was very easy and satisfying to eat I also really liked the kalamata olives - these added a ton of flavor My favorite part of this dish, and it's not even close, was the herbed grilled sourdough this was some of the best bread i've ever had it was grilled just perfectly, with the outside not being too charred but just crispy enough that it's essentially perfect the light amount of butter on the super-soft inside of the bread also tasted incredibly good - although I wish there was a bit more I loved eating the sourdough bread more than any other portion of this dish While the portion size didn't look that big from the start, I did find this relatively filling enough read more

I have to say, it was very refreshing coming into this spot in SeaTac. Nice, warm service and plenty of seating. Prices are typical for an airport. I had the crab on toast, and it felt like a proper last taste of Seattle--well done. It was a delight to eat. I'd suggest maybe adding a little zest with some jalapeño Tabasco. In most chowders, hype and potatoes reign (an attempt to save on production costs). Here the bowls are chock full of seafood from crab, clams, mussels, fish, lobster, etc., that if there ever was a piece of potato or two included, it was inundated by the plethora of other fish meats--so I didn't notice...The base is also delicious and wonderfully concocted with a butter/wine reduction roux redolent of caramelized onions. It was fresh, satisfying portions with a hearty 1/2c of shrimp. The IPA was nice and cold. The service was great and there are nice views out the huge windows. It was expensive, but isn't everything at airports? If you can afford $50 for shrimp salad and 16oz beer you'll be pleased. read more

Especially relaxing if you have the time before your flight. Staff nice and welcoming, starting with the host who made sure to ask us when our flight was. Very considerate! Our server was also friendly and attentive. I think I would've given a solid 4, maybe even a 4.5, had it not been for our dessert experience. It took way too long to get, and when we finally received it, it just looked and tasted off. We got the cheesecake waffle, and both the cheese cake and strawberries tasted sour. Salty's at the SEA is one of the better restaurants to eat at Sea-Tac International Airport. It's expensive as Salty's usually is at its other locations, but if you're looking for a local, spacious area with seafood entrees and a full bar to hang out in before your flight, Salty's at the SEA is a good option. I visited Salty's in my most recent trip when I was flying out to Europe and had some hours to kill before heading over to the S gates, which everyone in Seattle knows, is the most horrible international gate in the world. There are seriously no good food options at the S gates, so I made sure to hang out in this central terminal area for dinner hence, Salty's at the SEA. I ordered the Prezidential Caesar Salad and a bloody mary, which didn't take long to get. The bloody mary was solid and had spice to it, which is how I like my bloody marys. And the Prezidential Caesar Salad was interesting... I personally did not care for the candied pecans that came with the salad, making this more unique than a standard caesar salad. But I don't get it. I hated the candied pecans in this salad. But everything else was solid, especially the blackened salmon, which is the star of this dish. Overall, Salty's at the SEA is a solid option for seafood entrees in a spacious area to hang out in while you're waiting for your flight. It's one of the better restaurants in the airport if you want to dine in. Not too shabby. read more

I arrived at SEA with plenty of time before my flight because I saw that the TSA lines can get crazy long. I was able to get through security in about 5 minutes though so in hindsight maybe I was a bit too anxious. But you never can be too early I guess. I decided that having lunch at one of the restaurants was the way to spend my extra time. I wanted to dine in somewhere so it kind of limited my options since a lot of the eateries in the area are take out only. I stood by the host stand for a while before someone noticed me and I was led to a small table kind of by the windows. The tables are pretty packed in on that side, but it wasn't too crowded and I didn't feel too close to anyone until later on during my meal when someone was seated next to me. The menu is fairly extensive, and I knew I wanted to try their seafood chowder. I couldn't really decide between getting a cup of chowder plus a full meal or just getting a bowl of chowder, so I was happy to see that they had a soup and salad option. It wasn't too expensive too. There are some seafood options on the menu that carry a hefty price tag and I saw some diners order the more expensive things. It must be nice to have a company expense account. Haha just kidding. The soup was really good and I ate the Caesar salad, but it wasn't the best salad I've ever had. I also ordered a drink and it wasn't amazing. Service was attentive and friendly. I didn't feel rushed and I probably could have stayed longer enjoying the view and having drinks. I'd recommend Salty'a if you have some time to kill at SEA. During our extended layover, we tried Salty's as a treat to ourselves and had a great time. All the service workers we encountered were nice, especially our server who recommended the blackened steelhead on my salad and gave my partner a lemonade to go. We also tried the seafood chowder and fish and chips. The chowder has additional seafood and makes a unique flavor. It was all delicious and filling. The bill was a bit more than expected but mostly covered by our airline vouchers (let your server know how many vouchers as they have to manually type this in!). Short Story: A fantastic place for fish and chips! Long Story: I had a flight from SEA to SJC and I was hungry. I heard about Salty's and decided to take a look at the to-go menu. The menu is exactly the same as for here though you order and pay at a different location. I got the linkcod fish and chips with an extra piece. The total was $38 plus tax which is a bit pricey. Though all their food items are a bit pricey including the blackened halibut with risotto (which was my second choice for $49.). I went around 3pm on a Saturday so it was not too busy. The order was ready in about 10 min and the pieces were quite large! The cod was very fresh and lightly seasoned. The fries also was crisp and nicely made. This restaurant is spacious, airy and bright. The views of the runway are amazing and I love that they have one counter that stretches the entire window wall so that you can observe the planes. The food here is pricey but it is a seafood restaurant so not all too surprising. The seafood that I have tried has been high quality. The last time I was here I was solo and ordered the shrimp salad special and it was a delicious mix of flavors and ingredients. The portion was very reasonable for a lunch and the price was okay. Service was friendly and helpful. They understand some guests have time to waste and others are more pressed for time. Definitely one of the nicer restaurants in the airport. read more

I keep reviewing this restaurant because I am a total fanboy. Whenever I need to connect through Seatac I get all shiny-eyed thinking about Salty's, and I craft my layover to be long enough to enjoy a great meal. I have never been disappointed. Today I am in my way from Palo Alto to Sitka, Alaska, stopping in Seattle on the way. I ordered their current menu topper: salmon stuffed with dungeness crab on a tasty risotto with greens on top. As usual, this tasted even better than it sounds. The chef that crafts their dishes here works with food like an artist works with paint and media to produce amazing flavors and textures that you never would have imagined. I ordered their special dessert: three tasty pastries that were similar to Hawaiian malasadas, stuffed with a gloriously gooey caramel chocolate filling, and Rocky Road ice cream on the side with a mint garnish on top. To drink I ordered black tea with cream and honey. They brought Tao of Tea, which while not the best (one time they had Smith) is still pretty good. Far better than the Stash or Bigelow that some self-styled fine restaurants call tea. As always, the staff were friendly and attentive. Another great dining experience for me to sleep off on Alaska flight 67. read more

The customer service was fantastic and the restaurant is more spacious than most airport restaurants. I am not a seafood guy but my counterparts got theirs and loved it. i got the chicken sandwich and fries and really enjoyed the taste of the grilled chicken and the fries were fries. The open bar seating was extremely convenient, and at least 3 people were working 20ish guests on a Sunday at 11a. The full menu was available at the bar. They printed my receipt before I asked for it - exactly right for an airport - and they were inconspicuously attentive, keeping my water glass full. I ordered the bowl of chowder, and it came very promptly. The Tapatio hot sauce added contrast to the creamy soup, while the soft scallops inside were a welcome surprise. I was less fanatic about the special Chardonnay, which seemed young and a bit acidic. For something sold for $18 a glass, this is a miss.
