Stopped by Phe while visiting Seattle and really enjoyed it! The matcha was excellent, smooth, flavorful, and worth the stop. The ordering process was a little confusing at first. Someone hands you a menu when you get in line and tells you where to order, which felt a bit unusual, but it moved along fine once we figured it out. I was hoping to try the banana pudding matcha, but they were sold out by the time we got there later in the day. Definitely get there earlier if that's what you're after. Even without it, I'd come back for the quality of the matcha alone.
Phe had some of the best caffeine drinks I had while visiting Seattle for a long weekend. Definitely executes on the Vietnamese flavors both in its coffees as well as its teas. Parking is a PITA since it's right off Pine St but can find some street parking nearby. Expect to wait 5 - 10 minutes in line and another 10 minutes+ for the drink depending on how busy it is. Not surprised by the wait given the quality of the food. Came on two separate times; relatively empty inside in the morning but in the afternoon all seats were taken so better for takeout. Seemed like a lots of students perched up to study. Food was also really solid / more lunch focused since most meals were pretty heavy. Could definitely see this being a goto spot as a local to get my caffeine fix.
The matcha drinks here are soooo good. I did think they were expensive for the size but I understand because the quality of the drinks are crazy. The banana pudding matcha is straight up dessert- their banana pudding cream is heavenly, and I will be thinking about it for a while. I got the hojicha drink as well and it was also super yummy but I think the banana one takes the top spot here. The line is usually long but drinks come out fairly quickly! Tonsss of people here so finding a table or seat might be hard.
Located in Capitol Hill with street parking nearby as well as paid lots. Upon pulling up to the corner to where this was, there was a line already starting to round the corner. Upon entering, it appeared there's a good amount of indoor seating and the way their flow for ordering and receiving the drinks was great. The wait wasn't too long and the service was friendly. They were playing a lot of up beat music. Hoping to try coming out again when it's less busy. I ordered the Hojicha Latte Einspanner and I can see why people were lining up for this spot. The Hojicha has that nice roasty taste to it and was complimented by the creamy top. Safe to say, the drink didn't last long at all. Only wish is that there were bigger drink size options.
Food & Drinks: Matcha Einspanner (7/10) - not the best quality matcha i've ever had but not the worst either. it was decent. i think mine was slightly on the grainier side for the matcha and more milky. the matcha was a bit overpowered or washed out but you could still taste it. the taste overall was pretty decent Xoi Man (7/10) - a bit on the saltier side, portion is a bit small, had a combination of flavors. i thought it was decent Egg Rolls (9/10) - so crispy and flavorful! these were made really well and tasted good with the fish sauce Service: It's pretty busy so there's going to be a bit of a wait, especially if you ordered food. They'll hand you a number if you decide to dine in and you place it at the table you're at and they'll bring it out to you! On the other hand, for drinks you would pick up at the front. Ambiance: It's very cute and small with limited seating. It's pretty popular and busy so it can be hard to find a table. A lot of people come and do work/study here as well so seats can be taken for a while during busy hours.
When we were in Seattle recently, I researched great coffee spots and Phe was mentioned more than once. Once I saw that they specialized in Vietnamese coffee and they actually offered Ca Phe Muoi (salty coffee with cream), my favorite Vietnamese coffee drink, I bookmarked it for a visit. There was a line when we arrived, but there was seating available while we waited. I already knew that Ca Phe Muoi was what I wanted, so I didn't need to consult the menu, but for the reader, they offer other Vietnamese coffee drinks, matcha drinks, and seasonal specials. Food is on the menu including banh mi, sliders, croissants, and avocado toast. My drink was the perfect blend of salty and sweet. I loved the ambiance and decor with natural wood and plants for a calming vibe. I can see why Phe has such great reviews and just wish we had something like it in Vegas.
WOW Inside is huge, lots of room for seating and a line and does get very busy! Well decorated, felt very much like a shop that would be in Vietnam. Service was good; kind, patient and quick. Drinks are good! The Phe Keo is VERY sweet but I love sweet drinks. Matcha Einspanner was just okay, the cream top had some weird mucus-y texture clumps. I'd come back just for the coffee tho.
Okay - this place gets packed especially during holidays and weekends but line does move. The ambiance inside features a large bar where you'll see the workers work and a series of tables where you can play games or study / talk / dine. Bathroom hallway is pretty cool as well. The drinks - chefs kiss. Was actually not expecting it to be that good. I was in LOVE with the Phe Bap (corn latte). The matcha is alright tbh. Phe Bap: 11/10 Matcha: 7/10 Hojicha Pistachio: 7/10 Phe: 7/10 Sliders: 10/10 (amazing - similar to Community Goods in LA) Would highly recommend checking out if you're into the drinks.
My absolute favorite cafe in Seattle. I remember coming over a year ago for their soft-opening pop up. Now a year later, it's amazing to see how far they've come but still retained what made them great in the first place. They are super efficient in their assembly process which they have to be considering how popular they are and how long the lines get. I ordered their ginger soft tofu hojicha special which sounded crazy but I wanted to try it. It was absolutely amazing. I never would've guess that a tofu taste would pair so well with the earthy toasted hojicha. The texture of the tofu was also great, it reminded me of grass jelly. I cannot wait to come back and try all of their drinks.

What makes Phê appealing is that it takes classic matcha drinks and gives them a fun, dessert-like twist without feeling heavy-handed. The café has a stylish, buzzy energy that fits the Capitol Hill scene well, and the whole experience feels current and thoughtfully put together. During peak hours we had quite a wait (mayhbe 15-20 mins) until we ordered, but service was quite fast. Seating can also be a bit limited so it gets crowded quite soon. But this place is indeed one of the best matcha places in Seattle!
We were visiting Seattle and decided to give Phe a try and we're so glad we did. I got the Banana Pudding Matcha, and my boyfriend ordered the Vietnamese Coffee with Black Sesame. His drink was so good that we came back the next day so I could order it too. Fast service, friendly staff, and definitely a spot we'll come back to whenever we're in Seattle.

Finally made it to Phe after seeing all the debate about which café has the best matcha in Seattle. For me, this one takes the top spot--easily the best matcha I've had in Seattle so far. What I really loved is that the matcha isn't overwhelmed by milk. The tea itself is the star, giving it a rich, balanced flavor that really shines through. The atmosphere is bright and inviting, and the staff were incredibly friendly. I also loved the cute décor and drinkware--it adds to the overall experience. During my visits, I tried the banana pudding matcha, the sesame foam Vietnamese coffee, and the hojicha. Everything was excellent, and I'd happily order any of them again. They also offer a small selection of bites to pair with your drink. I didn't try any myself, but my friend enjoyed what they ordered. Seating is limited, especially on weekends, but it's also the perfect place to grab a drink to go. I'd definitely come back and highly recommend it to any matcha lover. read more
Arrived mid-afternoon on a weekday and there was a line out the door. Seems typical for a trendy place in Seattle. We waited ~15 mins before ordering. We ordered the matcha banana pudding and hojicha ginger tofu pudding lattes. Service took ~10 mins. The matcha banana pudding was yummy. The matcha was of good quality and the banana pudding top was a smooth, cream top that tasted just like banana pudding, with a fun crunch in the topping. The hojicha ginger tofu was a bit more adventurous in flavor. The ginger and tofu messed with my brain and made it feel like I was drinking a savory asian sauce/soup, but the drink was still sweet. I kept sipping, but the strange savory/sweet limbo never really balanced correctly to truly enjoy the drink. On the plus side, the silken tofu was fun to sip through the straw and added some protein. There is seating indoors, but the tables can fill up quickly. Some people were wfh, but most were chatting. There is 1 hr complimentary WiFi. Typical Seattle street parking. Overall, the latte flavors were fun to try and it was an aesthetic cafe. But, the prices for the lattes make them more of a novel, hyped up purchase. read more
got the matcha einspanner and thought it was okay! i usually prefer my matcha too be stronger and i feel like the cream top kind of diluted the flavor a little bit. think the drink was ok, but was kinda expensive for the amount of matcha i felt i got. wish there was a double matcha or something like that, i heard the coconut matcha is great! think the einspanner is just whatever yummy rating: 8/10 read more
It was a beautiful Saturday morning and we waited an hour for these drinks. We paid about $18 for a Matcha Einspanner and Hojicha Einspanner. The drinks are wonderful :) Super creamy and not too sweet. The lines are super long. The interior is airy and earthy and there is plenty of seating. read more

Finally got to try it myselfl!! When I first heard of Phe, they were a small little stand, and I immediately wanted to go. It was always so busy, which is great for the business, but made it difficult for me, so I was so happy to finally set time aside for it. I tried their classic matcha latte with Hanami flavor profile. It was smooth and you could tell it was made with good quality matcha. My partner tried their Matcha Einspanner, which was definitely sweeter and was so delicious when the foam mixed in. Next time, I would love to get the opportunity to try their famous banana matcha and maybe give some of their coffee a try! read more

We went around 11 in the morning, and it was PACKEDDDD. The inside was completely full, and there was even a line out the door, so I honestly didn't think our group of 4 would find seating. The line moved really fast tho, and we managed to grab one of the viet style low table and chair setups that you'd typically see on the street back home, I liked it a lot. The drinks and food also came out surprisingly quickly despite how busy it was. We ordered a lot to try! Drinks: 1 phe muoi $6.75 1 matcha einspanner $8.75 1 earl grey matcha $9 1 banana pudding matcha latte $11 1 hojicha latte $6.50 Their matcha was smooth, no astringency, I wished it was more matcha taste bc it's a little light but that's just me bc I like umami matcha. Food: Phe Sliders $13 MUSTTTT GET!! My group absolutely devoured these. The rolls were soft and airy, and somehow the sliders still felt light and not too heavy. The aioli was sooooo yum we scrape every bits of it lolllll. I'd honestly come back just for this dish alone. xoi chay $15- Really good breakfast option. The sticky rice was soft and chewy, and all of the toppings came together really well. Easily my new favorite spot. I get why it's so popular on social media, and I'll definitely keep coming back whenever I'm in Seattle for sure!! read more

This is a must go everytime i visit seattle, their banana matcha is amazing and their matcha einspanner is delicious if you aren't into the fruity flavors, the breakfast rolls are delicious, their coffee is strong, the interior is aesthetically pleasing and the staff are so kind. This will always be my favorite matcha spot! read more

The service here was fast considering that the line went out the door! We ordered the matcha einspanner and the Earl gray. I personally loved the einspanner more. The place is super modern and clean. The drinks were about $8 each read more
I got the early grey matcha, which was pretty but a bit bland in the matcha taste. The phe den was great, with a rich flavor that was almost savory. We also got the musubi on a whim but really enjoyed them. Cute interior and vibes. Line can long but the staff work quickly to keep things moving. read more

When considering value, I want to say 4 stars but I think it's justified to be 4.5 and round up. I really paid around $25 for two drinks, but they were tasty so I'm bouncing back and forth here. Most people have claimed this is the best matcha spot and it's easily up there among the top. Visited on a Friday morning just before rush hour. Lots of people were already seated working and a ton started lining up after us. Honestly surprised the wait hasn't died down more. Not sure what the cup sizes are, but there is a small and large. I'd guess small around 12oz and large around 16oz, but unsure because they like to use the shorter, stubbier cups. Price is steep. Oat milk still costs extra and is not priced in. Sweetness can't be lowered. Most matcha drinks have set sizes and no flexibility. Those are some of the main downsides. Beyond that, everything such as ambiance, coziness, third space vibes, and quality are upsides. Banana Pudding Matcha Latte - this drink is so good. Matcha super smooth, complementing the banana pudding with a soft texture. Matcha is a bit on the sweeter side and cannot be unsweetened, but caters to the general majority. Banana flavor elevates that sugar a bit more but not overly so. Definitely more of a dessert but also a hefty $11 price point. Strawberry Matcha Latte - while the matcha is again smooth, whisked well, and umami, the strawberry jam is nothing special. I personally see strawberry matcha as the older, safe choice for those who disliked the bitter or grassy tones of matcha. Similar idea here, which I think detracts from the quality of the matcha here. Would skip this for any of the other drinks. read more
On a weekday morning, my friends and I came into this coffee shop to try some of their unique drinks. While my friends settled on their banana latte, I wanted to try their iced hojicha latte. I loved the strong hojicha taste that blended well with the milk. My friends enjoyed their banana latte drink and commented on the perfect amount of sweetness. Regular seating is available in the shop, along with smaller chairs and tables reminiscent of Vietnamese outdoor shops. read more

Phe has become a staple matcha place for me, I've tried at least half the menu by now and my regular go-to's are the Koko Matcha Cloud and Hojicha Einspanner, and the banana pudding matcha of course! Definitely a busy spot so try to come here on a weekday if you don't like waiting! (Like me..lol) The pork banh-mi is delicious here as well as the Hawaiian roll breakfast sliders. I need to get around to trying the other food options. Not the biggest fan of the spam musubi they have, it always seems over steamed to me, I wish they were made to order like the other food options! Phe is worth the hype, and worth the wait too if you decide to go on a weekend. The space is super cute and it's nice to have a space for young people to gather and hang out. read more
Phe Coffee has officially won me over after a couple visits. The first time I came was during that crazy matcha shortage, so they sold out just a couple hours after opening which, honestly, fair. I ended up trying their honeycomb coffee instead and WOW... so good. Perfectly balanced, slightly sweet, and super smooth. My boyfriend got the black sesame coffee and loved it. I'm personally not a black sesame fan, but if you are, it's definitely worth trying. The second time I came back, I finally got my hands on the earl grey matcha and OMG GET IT. It's so unique and flavorful, and everything just works together perfectly. You really taste the earl grey and the nutty matcha yumm. Only downside? Parking can be a struggle... but I'm not even kidding when I say I will parallel park every single time for that drink. Definitely a spot I'll keep coming back to. read more
After figuring out the best time to go for it, I went with my friend on a Sunday morning at 9am to get their banana pudding matcha latte, and there was still a line to get their stuff. Even the inside was almost a full house! This time around, they did not run out of banana pudding; oddly, I didn't see many people get it when my friend and I got ours; I mostly saw hojicha and einspanners. Guess luck is in my favor now (from my previous review here). Yes, matcha has become oversaturated, overused and overrated here in Seattle, but the banana pudding matcha latte here is sooooooo good that you wouldn't even think that! The banana pudding is perfectly sweet and complements the matcha. It even has actual banana pieces, and other places serving similar matcha lattes don't even do that! The toffee bits hit the spot, and the matcha itself is ceremonial, so it's quite strong and floral. Both parts work well, and even more so when you decide to stir it all together after you've enjoyed some of the banana pudding with the provided wooden spoon you get. I've tried many matcha places and popups around the city, and after having here a second time I can safely say this place has THE best matcha in all of Seattle, and if all those matcha places I tried competed in a Smash Bros. tournament, this place would come out on top! read more

I've been here twice and liked my drinks! The first time I got the banana pudding hojicha which was very unique (and not too sweet!). The most recent time I visited I ordered the pistachio hojicha which is a seasonal drink. The hojicha quality is great and paired well with the pistachio. I also tried my friend's matcha kloud and that was fantastic! Every time I visited they ran out of the banana pudding matcha so it's been a bummer I haven't gotten the chance to try that one yet. So if there's a particular drink you want, go early because they do sell out! read more

I was looking for a good place for matcha and this place kept popping up. I love how concentrated their matcha drinks are. I ordered the Matcha Einspanner - the sweet cream top was very pleasing. Hands down the best matcha in Seattle. If you like strong matcha that is not too sweet, this is the place for you! I feel like most of the matcha in Seattle can be summed up by two words: "green milk". However, the drinks at Phe are rich, smooth, and made right in front of you. The color is perfect. I would highly reccomend the coconut water topped with the matcha foam. It wasn't too sweet and still maintained a strong matcha flavor, even when the drink mixed. We also ordered the banana nut matcha and a regular and both were amazing, although very sweet! If you like sweet, then it would be good. If not, I would reccomend the coconut water topped with matcha foam. Hands down the best matcha place in Seattle! The line goes out the door, but it moves quickly and is so worth it! My one critique is that it is so busy inside so if you want to study, there will be no room. read more
The line was out the door which seems common, here. The cafe is small, crowded, but super aesthetic! They ran out of the banana pudding matcha which is the one I really wanted to try. I got their matcha eisen-something and it was pretty good! I was disappointed that I paid almost $10 for my cup not to be full (ordered less ice), so keep that in mind when you order. I've heard high praises for this matcha place and the line definitely seconded that notion. The line moved at a fair pace and there was complementary lemon ice water. The ambiance is super nice with people chattering and some light music playing. I was a little overwhelmed with the options so I picked a simple Hojicha Latte. I love that I was able to taste the burnt Hojicha notes. My friend ordered the Earl Grey Matcha and said that there was definitely the taste of Earl Grey. I noticed that the matcha powder that the baristas were using were labeled differently based on which matcha drink they were making. Because they strain and mix the matcha powder on the spot it does take a while for the drinks but the wait is worth it for some authentic tasting matcha. Next time I come I either want to try the banana cream matcha or the Vietnamese coffees. There is decent amount of seating and food options on the menu as well. read more
Worth the hype! I got really lucky and was able to get in line when it was manageable. The interior was so unique and reminiscent of Vietnamese coffee shops! The ambiance was great. They had a lot of great and unique drink options, but I wanted something uniquely Phe. Something that I haven't seen on menus of other coffee shops before, so that is why I went with the Phe Pho! The drink itself was so beautifully crafted. So aesthetic. The cream part of the drink was seasoned with pho spices (I think). I'm not sure, but it smelled really similar to pho! Once it was mixed into the coffee, it had a distinctive flavor that I've never had before in a coffee, but I enjoyed it. I highly recommend this place if you're in the area. read more
Phe is a modern Vietnamese cafe and one of the hottest spots to grab a matcha in the Seattle area for good reason! To get here, street parking will definitely be your best and there is a good amount of it around the area. Inside, they have an aesthetic setup with a solid amount of seating. For their menu, they have a great selection of different coffee, matcha, and hojicha drinks to choose from. Wifey and I opted to try their Koko Matcha Kloud and it was spot on. Poppin cafe with lots of seating and really delicious cream foam!! Very creamy banana pudding that wasn't overpoweringly sweet and hojicha + matcha was decent. Drink looks very filling but it's in a smaller sized cup with ice so I finished it no problem Tea flavor was noticeable, but felt a bit watered down as I sipped it more but could've just been the ice melting And because I got the pudding it worked really well to balance the drink out! Pudding bits of banana chunks and bread inside - they recommend not to stir so you can sip and eat as you go and taste the foam and tea individually. I came here for one reason only: their banana pudding matcha latte. and it did not disappoint. I love the interior and overall atmosphere here. the girl ringing up my order was super nice and sweet. although there's a decent amount of seating, the place was packed when I arrived and it took some time for me to find a spot (even though I was alone). out of the 4 matcha places I visited in seattle, this was my favorite one. read more

this was one of two cafes my boyfriend and i went to while visiting seattle and overall we thought it was pretty okay. the good: i really liked the interior, there was a good amount of seating and it felt very airy and open since the whole front wall/window opens. there's also a bar where you can watch the matcha being whisked! and the girl taking our order was really kind. the bad: the banana pudding matcha was $11 we didn't realize until it was rung up but $11 seemed pretty crazy compared to what we're used to in socal. it was also quite underwhelming and we felt it lacked flavor considering the price. there is also no real waiting area, if you're able to snag a table or seat it's pretty loud inside so you probably won't hear your order being called from the bar, otherwise you have to wait outside the shop in the sidewalk which blocks the walkway when it's busy. overall i thought it was just okay. it was good to try once but i don't think i'd come back. read more
