In my opinion Sweet O Donuts best donut is their glaze. They are large, fluffy and melt in your mouth fresh. The only reason I couldn't give them the full 5 stars is the consistency of their dough. If you're a very picky donut lover the barely there, slightly more moist, fluffy texture could throw you off. I read a customer review that mentioned this. I noticed the texture while eating my first chocolate bar donut. By the evening when I had a glaze donut the dough was just perfect. The great flavor definitely outweighs the slightly fluffy texture. I don't think you'll be disappointed. BTW : You need to use the Walk-up window to order your donuts instead of trying to go inside. The maple crullers are awesome although they call them "maple french" here. I also get raisin rolls here which are pretty good too. I like to have a sugar free Red Bull with my donuts and they don't have that here so I get a regular Red Bull and then a ridiculous sugar high about 5 minutes later, oh well. Sweet O is in a low income neighborhood so the clientele can be really interesting. The lady that works here is super nice and dose a great job dealing with all the gang members and homeless folks counting out their pennies for a morning coffee. Everyone seems to like her and she always remembers what your usual order is. Go to Sweet O and get yourself a Cruller, you won't be sorry. read more

I take donuts to work a lot.And when I go to ritz carlton La Live I have to bring a dozen glazed donuts to one of the main dept heads .took one to a chef to try now he's hitting me up when he sees me with my box of donuts now . :) I love giving them out to my customers . I went there around 8 am and it was crowded. Right when I got there, people started to literally flow into the store. The owners (husband & wife i assume) were busy taking orders and giving out food. There are 2 counters - one inside the store and one you can just order from outside. They asked me if i'm gonna get a dozen of donuts and i said no and they gave me this look. Hmm... i just wanted to buy 3 donuts and is it wrong? haha Anyhow, I got my donuts and the lady was rushing me cuz there were people behind me ( i guess they were "regular customers") because she was giving them some kind of signs like she knew their orders already. The donuts were $0.85 per donut which is not that cheap.. but i guess it's reasonable for a quick breakfast. This place is pretty small compare to other donuts stores in the area and it's not that clean or neat so be aware. The donuts were fresh and i can tell they made it that morning and it was pretty good. I had chocolate, sugar glazed, & apple cinnamon and they were all pretty good. Mom & Pop shops are my favorite, and this place is just that. They make everything by hand, by themselves, and that truth is there when you take your first bite. The french glaze is my go-to. I usually order a small coffee with cream, or blueberry muffin and a small mint tea. I do eat their other doughnuts, but I pretty much have the same order everyday. They will remember your order, by the way. I asked once, why they start work so early. For example: last night/this morning... I was driving home around 1:30am and the 'Pop' was already kneading dough. The 'Mom' informed me that some of the dough can take up to four hours to rise, and they need doughnuts ready for the 5am truckers & early workers. Because they have such a variety, they have to use different flour for this, different cooking temperatures for that, and fresh fruit with these. From what I know these people are well into their 50's. They get up and start work before the moon descends and I've purchased doughnuts from them at 3pm in the afternoon. I've seen them close shop at 4 or 5pm and start work again by midnight/1am. They do this 7 days a week, by the way. Buying from them allows me to spend in my city, promote a small business, while simultaneously supporting the family that runs its operation. I feel good about that. read more

My dog trainer Trish introduced me to these delectable doughnuts They are super light and airy with an almost custardy pastry dough. they are made from the same choux pastry batter that is used to make cream puffs. did you know that french cruller is about half the calorie intake of a regular yeast donut? Sweet O Donuts make the best chocolate glaze too that is rich and deep in cocoa flavor. And the husband/wife duo that runs this shop are so warm and funny. Looking at this shack from the outside... you wouldn't think they had good donuts. Pretty run down. But wow, they have really good donuts. I visit here at least twice per week to get my fix of maple bar. What makes this place special, though, is the little old lady who is there EVERYDAY!!! She is nice, friendly, chatty.... you feel like you just want to buy the donuts b/c you like her. O' so Sweet O these Donuts are! I stumbled upon Sweet O one afternoon when I was meandering through Fullerton and boy was I happy. The place was tiny and all the donuts are made right there in the morning. The fitter was sweet with ample icing and the fritter itself was very, very tasty with the right portion of apple to cinnamon. I also had the iced old fashion, yep it was great too. I am really picky with donuts overall, some are just overbearingly sweet, some just completely taste like oil. BUT I've finally found the best spot I've ever tried for donuts!!! Been here a couple times and each time was a great visit. Friendly customer service, delicious and fresh donuts and pricing isn't too shabby. The only thing is they charge .75 if you use a card to pay- so I suggest bringing cash if you can. Other than that, this is a wonderful little place if you're wanting a fantastic donut! read more

Co-worker brought 2 boxes with miscellaneous donuts- I sampled 3 different kinds and all were delicious. The apple fritter looked good but I tried the old-fashioned, chocolate glaze/cream filled, and cinnamon bun with crumble on top. This is the my favorite doughnut spot. Kaye is the owner and she knows how to treat her customers. It only took a few trips before she remembered me and was pouring my coffee as I walked in the door. Great place to get donuts. All donuts here taste good. I mainly get the glazed one but the rest of them are good. There's a variety of donuts to try at a reasonable price. Owner here is friendly. Enjoys talking with the customers and maintains getting each customer's order who walks in. The daughters also come to help out with the business. All the donuts were VERY well frosted thus were more on the sweet side. The cake donuts were more fluffy than I would of liked considering most of them are usually dense but if you like fluffy donuts don't be scared by any of the cake variety. The blueberry donut wasn't as good as I thought only because certain sections didn't taste like blueberry. Overall I must say I was surprised by this location. I've passed by it hundreds of times and wondered how it tasted but this holiday weekend I was finally able to try some of their donuts and can say it's one of the better shops if you want fresh donuts BUT be forewarned... I wanted to surprise the folks at the office with some early morning treats, so I decided to stop off here on the way to work. At first, I thought that it was an abandoned building. The place is seriously run down on the outside. When I entered, I was greeted by an older lady behind the counter. She had an oddball sense of humor but she was helpful. I ordered four mixed dozen. I was surprised at the cost--$8 each for non-premium donuts. However, my staff was impressed. The apple filled was clearly the winner. It was airy and moist. I preferred the frosted old fashioned. My fellow Yelpers say that she can remember your usual order, she knew I was a new customer, so she threw in the proverbial "free one"!!! My wife loved the coffee, hot and fresh, and there was plenty of Sweet&Low. The place smelled fantastic, that's because the donuts are awesome! When I bit into my first donut, because I had a few, there was a crunch! Not because it was hard, it was made right, not soggy soft from a ton of leftover grease! Sometimes I can't stomach working around hip coffee places so I decided to check out all the local donut shops which I would come to call as my donut home. I think this is the place. The crumb donut is solid. About to bite into my chocolate glazed. The coffee isn't burnt. But what really gets me is the yellow seats with matching wall. And you don't have to fight for an outlet. Great donut spot. Like any donut place the best time to get there is first thing in the morning. I was fortunate to get there right as they were opening and I had some very fresh donuts.
