Amazing bakery in the Fullerton area! Everything I had here was good and delicious. There were so many unique and pretty pastries to choose from from cakes to croissants. I got so many pastries. There were no misses. My favorite of the bunch was the blueberry cake. The cake wasn't too sweet, was moist, fluffy, and tasty. I enjoyed the matcha cheesecake, garlic sea salt bread, and raspberry cruffin as well. I also grabbed an egg bacon bread and regular sea salt bread to-go for future breakfasts. Warmed up, these were great in the morning! To drink I had the Banana Pudding Matcha Latte which was not too sweet and yummy! Good matcha flavor and the banana pudding was creamy. Mixed together, it was good. I also enjoyed the crunchy bits in there as well as the real banana slices. I got it at the small size, but the portion was generous. It went well with the pastries. There's some inside seating and tables as well as a bathroom available. There is lots of free parking around the bakery. I went in the afternoon on a Sunday and it was still packed! The variety is definitely one of the strongest points here. We tried the Matcha Cruffin, Onion Cream Bread, and Three Cheese Bagel. The Onion Cream Bread was the best of the three. The cream was light and balanced well with the bread, but the onion flavor was pretty much lost. I could barely taste it. The Matcha Cruffin was disappointing. There was matcha powder on top, but absolutely no matcha filling inside. I'm not sure if they changed the recipe or simply missed the filling in ours, but for something sold as a matcha cruffin, I expected an actual matcha presence beyond the topping. The Three Cheese Bagel, made with cheddar, cream cheese, and mozzarella, had good flavor but the texture was much too hard. We were dining in and had it warmed up, yet the bread was still tough and the cheese inside had already hardened. Service was fine, but nothing stood out. I feel bad for some many good eateries and drink places. Amidst inflation, high costs, social-media-brain-damaged-angry people, and all the road ragers... It's easier than ever to nitpick and put down great places for food and drink. However, given all the above, it's still impossible to gripe about Bag of Cakes. Since I was already in OC on Sunday, June 28th, I visited Bag of Cakes Bakery with my mom, which is a place we both absolutely love. The bread and cakes here are so, so incredibly delicious, and I'm a huge fan. We stopped by that day and bought some pastries, and seriously, every single one of them was so fresh and amazing. They make the absolute best bread and cakes! My mom also ordered a coffee--a hot Americano--but that was a bit on the sour side, so it wasn't really our thing. Aside from that, the interior is cute and pretty, the shop is spotless, all of the staffs are super friendly, and above all, every single pastry and cake is just so delicious. I love it. One thing, though: since people said it's located in Fullerton, I thought it would be close to the Fullerton Hannam Chain or H Mart that we always go to. However, this place is definitely a hut or miss depending on your personal taste. I love supporting local shops. This one is just down the street and I used to come here all the time when they first opened. Today we stopped by at 4:10pm to pick up pastries. Service has gone down since grand opening for sure. While in line we noticed at least 2-3 flies land on multiple pastries just feasting their hearts out. Decided to finally make the drive to try this place after seeing so many social media videos raving about it. I definitely think it's worth the rave. Parking wasn't bad at all. They're located in a big lot with other businesses nearby. If you want a front door spot, I think that'd be harder to find since it's very limited. I came here on a Thursday late afternoon and there were still a wide variety of pastries available. They're displayed in a transparent glass with little cards that show you the name of the pastry, price, and small descriptions. The girl that was helping me was so nice and patient! I was deciding what I wanted to get since they all looked so good. I did ask what the favorites were and she gave me some recommendations! In the end, I got 4 pastries and 1 drink. Pastries: Maritozzo (9/10): This one is a must. I think that this one must be popular on the weekends because I've asked a few friends and they always say they don't see it. This one is so beautifully decorated with thinly cut strawberries wrapped around the cream. The cream wasn't too sweet which is perfect for my tastebuds. There were whole strawberries inside which added a nice freshness and crunch through the cream. The bun was soft but couldn't hold up the cream and strawberry after you bite into it. This pastry was so good, I came back next week to buy a dozen to give to other people. Garlic Sea Salt Bread (7/10): I love the salt bread trend that's going all over social media and I love garlic. I did wish that this one had more garlic in it. It had some sweetness to it which I didn't mind or really love. I thought that this bread was really soft and overall a good lunch that I could eat without feeling too full or heavy. Matcha Cruffin (7/10): The outer crust has a nice crunch and inside has fluffy layers to it with matcha cream filling. I thought that the filling wasn't too sweet but the matcha could be more prominent. They add matcha powder and powdered sugar on the top for presentation. Hazelnut Chocolate Broissant (5/10): I just thought that this one was okay. It wasn't as crispy, flaky, or as buttery as I usually like my croissants. I thought I'd like this one but it fell short for me. I couldn't catch onto the hazelnut flavor unfortunately. I know that they promote this as a 'broissant' so I shouldn't have my expectations be the same as a croissant but I hoped that they could've adapted some of the croissant musts. Drink: Banana Pudding Matcha (10/10): I still think about this matcha from time to time. They make a regular matcha latte and then add a delicious amount of banana pudding with some crumbs on top. I mixed it in right away and the banana pudding didn't have the artificial banana taste so I hope that they used an actual banana for it. Mixing in the banana pudding did change the texture of the matcha for the better. It added a nice creamy texture but the matcha was still silky. Overall, I did really enjoy everything and love the variety of the different cakes, pastries, and drinks they offer. I definitely will come back and try other popular pastries and drinks. Again...they seem to specialize solely in cakes. The scone was pretty dry and tasted closer to a bread texture. Also, the blueberry compote container they gave me with the scone was SOO tiny! First of all, this place is a gem. The baked goods lasted 3 days and still tasted flakey! The cakes are small but perfect size (but you always wish it was a little bigger to get a bang for your buck) and you can tell they're made with care.
