I'm really excited about this, and I don't even have kids. First of all, Sweet Pea is split into three general parts; The cafe that serves up everything plant based which goes from lattes, baked goods, ranging from entrees and even NICE cream. Right next door is where the fun starts, a huge area with different stations and activities for the kiddies to play. We got a sneak peak to see this area before they did their grand opening and goodness! SO MUCH FUN. The planning and preparation in this sace in unreal, they're thinking of having 15 kids come in for an hour each time and in between each intake they'll have time to clean up for the next bunch. This means, each kiddie coming in will be able to play with anything and everything rather than waiting around for a space to open up. And keeping the whole area clean and safe and as organized as it could be. Further back is the "workshop" /meeting room. This- I'm assuming is where classes will be for all the mommys, who will be served snacks and treats while attending any of the events going on. We all know that i'm far from pushing plant based foods into my daily food intake so my review comes from a very biased front. With that being said, I really enjoyed both desserts and I can't even describe how happy I am that Greta pushed the oat milk for me to try. BECAUSE GOOD LORD, OAT MILK IS THE TRAIN I'M HOPPING ON. When I get my usual latte with nonfat milk, there's that heavy after taste from that steamed milk but with oat milk, the crisp coffee is all you're tasting. Man, favorite. Strawberry Vanilla Fields Forever Cake ($6.50) This is the dessert I will be coming back for time and time again, the topped icing is salted which goes really well with the sponge cake itself. Not to mention how pretty it looks. We also tried the Cinnamon Bun ($4.50) which I would have liked icing with to soak up a little more into the dough itself. They've taken to account on what Edmonton was lacking and took the idea of bringing in an upscale play area to merge into a cafe where moms can come in with their babes and spend the day, while the cafe is as welcoming as ever for anyone to come by. Literally a gem on the West end you guys have to check out. Be sure to say Hi to Greta, when you're subbing in that oat milk! **play area set to open November 1st! Does anyone have a baby I can borrow so I can sneak into the play area? Will definitely be back. Totally recommend!

High-end toddler play space! I never thought I'd put the words high-end and toddler in the same sentence. It's so fitting. I've been listening to all the mommy hype about this place and it was all true. This place was amazing!! First and foremost - make a reservation for the play space! It's a must to get in. You can call your reservation in or place your reservation online. It's pricey. 8.95 per kids over the age of 1.....for an HOUR of play. Here's why the price is worth it. The space is impeccably clean. There are appointment times for play starting at 9AM. After each hour of play, the staff comes through for a full half hour and cleans up the space. When you show up for your appointment time your kids come into a perfectly clean and sanitized set up space. They can pretend to be a doctor! Or a teacher! Or they can shop for groceries, or cook in a diner! The spaces are amazing. The decor? I want the decorator to come to my house. The decor is trendy, kid friendly and modern. I felt like I was hanging out in someone's awesome house. The bathrooms were downright gorgeous and had change tables. So what to do while your kids run around? Eat and drink! This establishment offers VEGAN treats. My soy latte was on point. So was my vegan made-on-site-from-scratch cinnamon roll. My child ate a vegan cheese quesadilla. I never had vegan cheese until today. I ate more of the quesadilla than my child!! The food and drink are so amazing here. The best part - you don't need kids to enjoy this space. There is a cafe attached that requires no planning to attend. Just come and enjoy! Plenty of parking right out front. So, we will be back! My only critique is that for myself and my two children I spent close to 30 dollars for an hour of entertainment. But wow did I enjoy myself.

Just got back from trying their newly opened play house . My daughter absolutely loved it. It is like no other play area in Edmonton -it is not just a whole bunch of toys in a room. There's a firehouse, a diner, a veterinarian clinic, a trolley, a hospital etc. Book online to reserve a spot for your daughter or son. It is eight dollars an hour. I highly recommend doing more than one hour. While your kids play you can Eat in the room next to the play area. There are people there to supervise your children. I once again ordered the vegan curry wrap and the vegan latte. The food is fantastic. (The food is all plant-based and I love it) A lot of my friends ordered their cinnamon buns and they all raved about them. You can also just hang out with your kids in the play area if you don't feel comfortable leaving them on their own. I enjoy the coffee will help keep an ion my daughter. Can't wait to go back

Met up with a gf here for a coffee and a visit (neither of us have kids) ALL THE VEGAN THINGS the food was amazing my cappuccino was so tasty! They had tons of gluten free options also. They have 2 sides 1 side is a cafe the other side is a play area for wee ones. This place is ridiculously clean, beautifully decorated and very has great zen energy. Check out all the fun stations and stuff for kids to play with AND they have an area in the back that people can rent for private get togethers!

Went to Sweet Pea on a special 'open mic' nite. Very nice, cozy place complete with toasty fireplace for a chilly winter day. This is a vegan establishment so don't be expecting to order a ham sandwich, but they have numerous tasty treats to tempt your tastebuds. They offer a selection of espresso and coffee choices as well as teas but keep in mind that this is vegan place so don't be surprised when only offered non dairy choices. For mothers of young children this place a whole back area designed as small kid sized themed play areas to let the young ones explore their creativity and play with others while the parents can enjoy a bit of a break. All in all a nice little place worth checking out

I went there for an open Mic event, it is a really beautiful place. Nice and clean. They serve all kinds of coffees, teas and even smoothies. Their menu is vegan. It's a really small place but at the end you have numerous concept rooms that the kids can go and play while you sip your drinks. I really like the idea that you can go there with your kids, let them play and it gives you the chance to visit with your friends or even just take a break.

It is pleasant enough on the inside, but pretty non descript. I wouldn't come here for the atmosphere. However if you like clean open concept this may be a place for you. Our server was friendly and helpful, giving her reccomendations. Menu is diverse with many things to try. But not so many that you are overwhelmed. We decided to split a few things. The Korean Schnitzel - Pork Tenderloin, Asian Slaw, Sweet & Sour Sauce, and Peanuts The Saganaki with Honey, Walnuts, and Lemon and the Happy Burger with Gruyere, Bacon Jam, Pickles, Lettuce, Tomato Food came out in a timely manner. Everything was good, but not standoutish that I would run here again. For sure the best bang for your buck was the korean schnitzel. The thing was massive. It was pleasant. Loved the peanuts and slaw that came with it. The saganaki was tasty. The burger which came highly recommended, was decent but by far, not "one of the best burgers" in Edmonton (That was quoted to us.) I much perfer the one at The Next Act. However it was yummy. If you are in the area it is worth checking out. However I wouldn't drive across the town to come here.

They appeared on the scene last year at a time when opening a new restaurant might have been viewed as an outlandish idea. But with the people behind other such beloved favourites as Red Ox Inn and Canteen at the helm it could be assumed that they had a pretty good idea of what they were doing. In a short amount of time (less than a year!) Happy & Olive has been named Favourite New Restaurant 2023 in the Edmonton Journal and Best New Restaurant 2024 in EDify Magazine. And they're not wrong! Located in Crestwood (in Crestwood Centre to be exact - lots of great businesses there and easy parking!) you'll find a fresh little spot on the corner, a restaurant that is still all bright eyed and esthetically beautiful. The decor isn't over the top; just nice finishes, a combination of various types of seating, a central bar area, and an approachable atmosphere. It feels like a down to earth space while maintaining clean lines and modern sensibilities. The patio is also very lovely and I was happy to grab a table out there on a warm July evening. I found our server to be helpful, friendly, and happy to offer some guidance as needed. Once settled in, I began to peruse the beverage menu and was pleased to find a rather good non-alcoholic cocktail portion of the menu, a trend that is really nice to see on more and more menus. I enjoy a boozy beverage as much as the next gal but sometimes I'm just not in the mood. On this occasion the list of five libation-free drinks were very welcome and I was glad to order The Gabby (Fresh mint, lemon, sugar water, bitters - $7.00). However, I will say that if you want to stay right on the olive theme it would be a great idea to order The Olive cocktail along with an order of Warm Olives - live your best olive dreams! Absolute perfection on a hot day! Not only was this beverage sweet and also tart, it was incredibly refreshing. The mint and lemon really made the drink feel like something quintessential to sip on in the summertime. A perfectly ideal patio choice! I enjoyed the way that Happy & Olive breaks down their menu. Do you want something "crispy?" (Um, yes. Everyone does.) There's also "this & that" or how about most people's favourite; "bread things." Or maybe you just need the "hungry" part of the menu. I did find that I required a bit of clarification on whether the plates were meant to be shared and it turned out that a communal dining style was the main intention. Armed with this information we set about ordering a whole bunch of plates that caught our attention with the plan for us all to try a bit of everything. (I love doing this with my family because we all enjoy eating the same foods. I don't like it as much when I go out with friends because, in some cases, tastes can vary quite a lot.) I'd heard a lot of excited buzz about the Fries (Rosemary, Parmesan, garlic oil, lemon aioli - $9.00) so clearly those were a must! Just when I thought that I knew everything that a french fry could be... I was served these. And wow, they are something special. Ultra crispy and likely double fried, the sprinkling of rosemary and parm really added a punch of unexpected flavour. The true surprise, however, was the lemon aioli, which was an absolute delight. I'm not sure that I've ever tasted anything quite like it! Creamy and fresh, this simple dipping sauce brought a whole brunch of bright acidity. It's always nice when a dish lives up to expectations and these fries certainly did. I had also heard that Happy & Olive had a latke menu at some point?? This wasn't the case on my visit but I love a latke and I'm super curious about what this entailed. Next up were the Crab Cakes (Remoulade, fennel celery slaw - $22.00) which I sometimes find can be hit or miss but I loved the sounds of these ones and had to give them a try. Positively golden on the outside, cutting into these crispy cakes revealed a luscious interior. Like a crab flavour bomb, I was met with actual crab meat and a satisfying mix of textures. I also loved the crunchy and refreshing slaw. I find fennel to be a completely underrated vegetable and it's one of my favourites. I always order it when I spot it on a menu! This dish completely nailed it for me and I think that it was the biggest winner of the night in my opinion. As mentioned previously, the Warm Olives (Marinated Happy style - $9.00) just seem like something that you should probably order at a restaurant called Happy & Olive... I wasn't sure what "Happy style" meant but I was excited to find out! I loved the variation of types and stunning colours, like little jewels. I'm not sure why this was surprising (it says "warm" right on the menu) but these really were very warm! The oil that they were bathed in was hot, even. Grabbing a piping olive and tossing it into my mouth was a satisfying experience. I also loved how aromatic they were with the use of rosema

We got a couple of things: an Almond Croissant, Bulgogi Poutine, a Lavender London Fog with oat milk, and a Peppermint Mocha with oat milk. My Almond Croissant was okay. I know almond croissants are made with leftover pastries, but there was no texture at all. It just fell flat, and lookswise it was physically flat as well lol. It was alright. I wouldn't get the almond croissant again. The Bulgogi Poutine was pretty good. The fries were delicious and crispy. The sauce on top of the fries was slightly sweet, salty, and savory. For me, the bulgogi could've been more flavorful and it didn't taste fresh but I liked the overall dish. Lastly, the Peppermint Mocha was alright. It wasn't spectacular. And I felt the same way about my Lavender London Fog with oat milk. I wish there was more depth in my drink. I think the tea could've been steeped a little longer. Flavor was there in my drink, but it wasn't strong enough. It was slightly disappointing since I've had amazing London Fogs before, and this one just wasn't up to par. Also my drink was slightly warm, not too far off from lukewarm. I feel like the price doesn't exactly correlate with quality for most things here. If we come back here, I'd be willing to try different things and pastries. But I don't think my rating would change much.
