We are so pleased and excited to have found Sweet Pea Grooming. Victoria rocks and took such good care of our fur babies. She is very caring, patient, and talented and will be our go to groomer. This is the first time our girls were not racing to get out the door after seeing us and were pretty content hanging out and being with their new friends.
Tessa and sweet pea grooming never disappoints. We moved further away and we will always make the drive here to use her services. Not only do they look stunning, and show quality, most importantly my dogs are so happy when we pick them up, that's how I know she treats them like her own. They run to the door when we arrive and have huge smiles on their faces when we pick them up. We are so happy to have a thoughtful, caring, and loving groomer! We would never take them anywhere else.
I took my 8 year old, 9lb Maltese to be groomed on 03/12/22 and Tessa, the groomer and business owner, cut her so bad that my dog ended up in the emergency room needing a piece of her paw pad cut off and with stitches! I picked up Lila from her usual grooming. I noticed Tessa did not have Lila in the front with all the dogs, she was isolated in the back. This should've been my first red flag. Tessa brought her to me and Lila was freaking out more than usual and scratched my arms and chest trying to get to me. On the drive home, my bf was driving, and I noticed I had blood stains on my lap and Lila would not stop licking her paw. I inspected her paw and noticed her lateral paw pad had been cut from top to bottom and it was no just a superficial cut, the cut was deep. I immediately called Tessa many times and ofc she didn't answer. I texted her and you can see her response in the pictures. She said she "forgot" to tell me. She brushed it off as a "little nick" and asked me to go back so she can do first aid. She then tried blaming Lila for jumping in the plexi glass? Lila was nowhere near that because she had her in the back and isolated. She also said Lila was jumpy during her groom and that resulted in the cut. My dog is old enough to know how to behave and has been coming here for years. I've never received any complaints from Tessa or other groomers except to tell me that she hates getting her nails cut, what dog doesn't? And Tessa asked me to go back so she could do first aid! So that means she never inspected or did first aid on the area when she cut her in the first place. No wonder my dog was freaking out. She was in pain! The ER vet had to cut off a piece that was hanging from Lila's paw, stitched her paw and gave Lila antibiotics and pain meds. My poor dog has never been through such a horrible experience. I care for her as if she was my own child. I just hope this experience does not give her PTSD and she will not be scared the next time she has to be groomed. I am not saying Tessa did this on purpose, but she hurt my dog and took no responsibility for it. This was carelessness on her part. She never answered my calls. I even asked her for vet recommendations because everyone's was booked or closed but Tessa stopped responding. My only option was Banfield Hospital and I have already had a bad experience there plus they have horrible reviews. Tessa did refund what I paid for the groom, because she knows it was her fault. She agreed to pay for the vet bills and has not responded. I will not blow up her phone in hopes of a response. Tessa knows she's responsible and should've taken accountability. She apologized for not letting me know but never took this situation seriously. As a groomer and business owner she could've handled this better. This just shows you what kind of person she is. She does NOT care about the pets she grooms. My dog is still healing from this and has one more vet visit to go! Please if you care about your pets, do not bring them here
The gals here are so sweet and did such an amazing job on my pup! He had a week long battle at the hospital, and they had to shave a bunch of random spots all over his body for treatment. So I had them do whatever they thought would look best. They did a great job trying to even everything out, despite all the bald spots from the hospital. What I was really impressed with was how they cut his face! Other groomers always make him look like a rat LOL. But definitely will be going back and taking my other dog here from now on, thank you so much Briana for taking care of our sweet boy!
Exterior and decor doesn't add much for the crowded space but I chose it because it was highly recommended by someone I follow on Instagram. The appointment system is online and extremely inflexible. I live 30min away and was driving with my 8month old baby running late after calling and texting and begging for them to wait and even offering to still pay for a nail trim if they need skip it- the harsh owners refuse to accept me when I arrived at 2:30 for a 2pm appt. This location is absolutely not ideal or convenient. Attached is a photo of my very disappointed Cavapoo who was rejected at the door.
So happy that we found this place and live close by! We have a temperamental senior chihuahua and Victoria is so patient with him! She does an amazing job and when I drop him off I know he's in good hands. She lets us know if he's taking a little longer (due to his attitude that day) so we can plan accordingly. He's always so clean and fresh when we get him. Thanks Victoria!! :) Oh and parking is easy which is a huge plus here in San Diego!

To the cut and wash. I've taken Jace many times to groomer and it never turns out how I want it they dont quite listen. The women did exactly what I wanted and even better then I imaged. She quoted me a really fair price. It took longer then she expected and the price didn't go up. I really appreciated that so I gave her a good tip. We've finally found a good place to take Jacc! Thank you sweet pea groomers. Best in SD!

And a far cry from most shops -- this shop feels like a home, not cold and dark. I had no hesitation leaving my little man for his first groom. We will see u soon Auntie Tessa!
I've been bringing my poochie here for about a year or so and every. single. time. it is amazing. I would give 10 stars if I could!! All the groomers are super friendly and do a great job. Very laid back and my super scaredy-cat Yorkie DOESNT WANT TO LEAVE!! That says a lot bc he never wants to go anywhere but he LOVES it here. Super happy customer.
I took my puppy here for his first grooming. I let the girl know that I had cut his nail a little short one time and he would be a little squirmy. When I picked him up, she let me know that he nipped her during the grooming. I look at his nails and there is clearly one nail that is cut way too short. This was probably the reason why he nipped her. My dog was licking his paw and clearly in pain the rest of the day. They also didn't even clean his ears which should come with the grooming.

This spot is literally 2 minutes away from me, which adds to the appeal of being able to drop off my dog and go home to relax for a bit. He's someone else's problem for an hour! :) Plus, I love supporting small, minority female-owned businesses. Tessa has created a cute lil environment for pups and owners alike. I'm glad to see she has incrementally grown her team to keep up with demand since we started going. While my double-coated shiba doesn't need any of the haircut services they offer, and I manage the in-between baths at home, Tessa and her team has been wonderful for nail care, brush outs, and ensuring my little shibe continues to accept handling from people other than me (everything is a training opportunity!). My dog always smells sooooo good after his groom. I remember earlier this spring at the height of my dog's seasonal shedding, Tessa kept him for THREE HOURS in order to fully brush him out, even though the appointment was for one hour only. Pretty sure she could've built another dog with the amount of fur coming off of him. She is a true professional and I, along with my furniture and floors, are eternally grateful for her generosity with her time even though there was no expectation to provide service beyond the hour! read more

Is Tessa a saint or a genius? To start, I showed up 30 minutes late so I was already an asshole customer. Tessa was so kind and understanding, she accepted my puppy with open arms and was so so patient with her! I ordered a wash and groom, nail buff, and the ayurveda. I also asked Tessa to cut my baby a little bit shorter since I was having a hard time brushing out her knots at home. I say this with all the love in the world but Charlie isn't the cutest pup in the litter. I definitely expected Charlie's cuteness to decrease after her fluff is gone, but Tessa made her look like an angel. Not to mention normally Charlie would get her doggy musk a day after her bath but she still smells so good! I'm so happily satisfied! The total cost is definitely a bit pricier than other salons but understandably so! You're definitely paying for excellent service! read more

I cannot express how amazing Tessa is! She knows exactly what my pups need and they are a handful sometimes..lol. My husky comes home each time perfectly bathed and defluffed! My little one, boba, comes home looking gorgeous and girly than ever. The herbal ayurveda mask is amazing, it truly moisturizes their skin, fur, and hair! I didn't realize sweetpea had a Yelp or this would have been done awhile ago! Loveeee taking our pug, Franky here! He was super happy coming out of his grooming appointment which makes me happy! He smelled so good and looked like a true handsome boy. Only thing I got confused about, which may have been my fault was I thought the cleaning I got included ear cleaning but, his ears weren't cleaned. Price is pricer then most places but most places don't send you cute pics and update you that your pup is doing well! So, it's worth it to me for a special treat every now and then! I took my Maltipoo here for a full groom. i thought everything was fine until I noticed that she was missing all of her fur in a spot on her leg. I was not notified about hiw it happenEd or that anything happened at the time I picked my pup up. I called and texted several times to speak to someone about what happened and why I wasn't told when I picked her up. I git no answer or replies to any of my calls or text. I even emailed the shop with pictures asking to be contacted and nothing. But they had no problem answering when I scheduled her appointment. This is totally unprofessional! I would understand if a simple mistake happened and I was notified. However, to not be notified and completely ignored when I reach out for details is not good business! I will NEVER refer them or use their services again. read more

Took my 2 year old dog here for the first time today and Horrible experience! My healthy dog with no problems or wounds, got a big cut on her paw. When I picked her up she was super stressed and in pain and her wound does not stop bleeding since we got home. The owner did not explained what happened and she still charged me $65 after hurting my dog and traumatizing her. I feel very angry and sad thinking about what she went through. She said because of the accident she gave me $5 discount. Such a shame to think that $5 will make up for what has happened. Her haircut is not professional and uneven. I asked for a short haircut but instead she shaved her whole body and my dog got rash on her belly. I know what a proper, professional cut looks like and it was not even close to it as you will see in the photos. The only reason I tried this place was good reviews , but I should have been suspicious when they did not ask my dogs shots or medical records. I wish I can give zero stars! read more

The best grooming my 12 year old shih tzu has ever gotten. He looks like a puppy again. I've been taking Benji with Tessa for over a year, she is amazing and very talented. She knows exactly how to groom my Yorkie and give him the Yorkie ears. Best of all I love that when I drop off Benji it's not a half day event, he's ready in an hour. Highly recommend Sweet Pea!!! read more

Stephi Chen with Sweet Pea grooming is awesome! I came in with my sorta matted bernedoodle and she gave my baby a fresh summer cut, without complaining about her knots. It's always so difficult to find a good doodle groomer that won't 'poodle my doodle' but Stephi ~*understood the assignment~* and did a great job! When I picked my dog up 2 hours later (she's fast!), I noticed the fur on her head was a little too long, and I asked Stephi if she could cut a little more and she did so very politely with a smile on her face and it only took her like 5 minutes. Excellent service/attitude and lots of talent! Definitely recommend to any doodle parents out there. Thanks Stephi! read more
We found Sweet Pea Grooming on a whim when they first open and have been going ever since. Our dog Legend loves it there and comes out soft and so fresh and so clean! We usually always request shampoo, haircut, nail trim, ear cleaning and teeth cleaning in one session. The shop is super cute and I love it when legend comes home with a bow. I love going to Tessa! I've been to a couple groomers before and they just didn't have the same vision in mind as to what cut looks best for my girl. Tessa's super sweet, listens to all requests, and is very punctual. I think it's the best experience my dog can have. Highly recommend her! read more

I've taken my 7 month old American bully puppy to get a bath here. We love the owner Tessa! Evie has come back shinier and softer than ever. Yesterday we did the self bath, with cherry blossom shampoo, blueberry face mask, hair shedding body mask, nail cut and blow out. Sweet pea is our go to for when our baby needs a bath. Each time we have visited, Tessa has worked to create a positive, non-rushed experience for our nervous puppy. This is my go to place when my dog needs a grooming! They make her look and smell so good. I love the pet cologne they use, it makes me dog smell so good for days!! I love it when she gets groomed because she is so smooth and soft after! The groomers do a great job. read more

I've always been scared to take my little maltipoo into different grooming salons because they never seem to cut my Macky the way i want it. Ever since i gave Sweet Pea grooming a try, i haven't looked back. They are amazing! Tessa is great at what she does & loves her job. Not only is her store super cute, but she offers so many unique products & sells adorable clothes & toys. Today was our first time have Brittany (new groomer) give my pup a cut & she did an amazing job as well. Mack ran out super happy & full of life.
