We saw the reviews "like grandma's" and thought we were going to a gem. Not so much. The server was nice and attentive but the food was just ok. Hash browns were greasy, bacon limp, and the "cat head" biscuit was just not good. The worst part was the atmosphere. I like country ... But our seats were duct taped and in ill repair. They serve mostly frozen food that's poorly prepared. The catfish was OK but everything else was no different than opening a can or a bag from the freezer at home. I'd guess they mainly cater to senior citizens who've lost their taste buds and prefer bland, tasteless, food. The restaurant was dirty and worn. Duct tape is the decoration of choice. Vents are caked with greasy dust, just waiting to drop down on your food. Maybe it once was a good place to eat but now it's outdated and worn out. Be warned. They don't take credit/debit cards. We went here because we were really wanting some good southern food. Our waitress was very kind, and she was also super attentive. The only problem we had was the food (which is the number one reason why we went out to eat!). The food just wasn't good at all. No seasoning. No crisp to the fried food. It just wasn't good. Omg!!! I hesitate to post this because it is our favorite restaurant ever!!!! The food is awsome! Fresh and downright good home cookin!!! Also the staff treated us like family from the first visit and each one after!!! They Are genuine and friendly and remember us! The place is clean, service amazing and the food is wonderful!!! If you are looking for good home cooking Kellies is the place to go! The food here reminds me of good old country cooking. The biscuits are DELICIOUS and all of the vegetables are cooked to perfection. The sweet tea is amazing and the service is really good. We love Kellies and have been here many times, considering that the food is to die for and the service is nice. The vegetables and the catfish are really good and my favorites would be the carrot raisin salad and their perfectly fried okra. This is not the kind of place you drop into for fine dining. The tables are clean but the rest of the place could use some soap & water. That said, the grilled shrimp dinner was excellent. You just can not find a better tasting shrimp dinner no matter how much you are willing to pay. The side dishes were very good, we did not taste anything that was not great. Perhaps that is why our plates were cleaned off by the end of the meal. I had no room left for pie, but that did not stop me from washing down a piece of peanut butter pie. My 1st time trying the place called to ask what they have since I'm new to the area and the lady who takes to go orders said we have basic sides, I explained to her I'm new to the area so she named a few and I ordered. She is very rude when she answers the phone as well when I picked up my order and I didn't leave a tip because of this and you could here her sigh when I didn't. Tonight was our first experience with Kellie's To Go and I was NOT impressed. Standing at the window every employee in the kitchen (dishwasher, both cooks, and the girl working the pass) along with two servers looked at me in the eyes, not ONE smile or be right with you, no acknowledgement whatsoever. After the three - four minute wait, someone to actually ask for my order, again no smile or friendly greeting the female working the pass took my order and walked off. I asked, if she wanted me to pay now or wait until food was ready she turned around and replied, "I'll let you know". OK , I replied as I took a seat in the one chair by the window. After a 15 minute wait my order was ready, she ignored the line, called me to the front of the 2 customers waiting to place an order, handed me the bag, took my payment, and said next. Got home and the order was completely wrong. Lesson learned, eat in or force the rude employee to open the box and check the order with me. I mean really, why force your employees to be friendly they are working for tips, no personality needed. read more

Went for breakfast after a late shift with my co worker. Found a fly in my drink. The waitress was rude and gave me attitude for simply asking for a new cup. Food was undercooked and it seemed like they wanted us out of there as if we didn't belong. No total on the check, did the math myself and it wasn't the same as when I settled. I hope that extra money was tax and not tip. All around an unsatisfying and uncomfortable experience. I am very sad after eating here. Take a pass on Kellie's and go to Waffle House. read more

Our family recently visited Kellie's and had a wonderful experience. Having some Northern relatives down for the weekend we wanted to treat them to some Southern eatin' and Southern hospitality. Kellie's was the perfect destination. When we entered we were immediately greeted by a cheerful and bubbly hostess. She directed us to a table and we were immediately provided scrumptious biscuits and cornbread. Our waiter was very attentive and quickly got our drinks and food orders. This place was filthy dirty. The trash cans near the drink machine had about 6 inches of scuzzy old dirt climbing up the trash can. The to-go window was greasy and dirty and looking through the window it looked like a dirty dive. It is called home-cooking and I feel sorry for anyone whose mother cooked like that. The baked beans tasted canned not fresh and when we asked, they were not canned but they were not made on site. The food was lousy at best. And when I went to pay for the meal with my credit card.... they did not accept them. I had to write a check. Filthy, lousy food, not homemade, cheap with ripped chairs and disgustingly dirty environment. I would not eat there again with a hazmat suit on. read more

Love me some Kellie's Home Cooking! Been dining here at Kellie's for almost 20 years, even before they moved to their present location. BEST BREAKFAST ANYWHERE and worth the drive. Awesome blueberry pancakes...none of that goop-y blueberry business sloshed on top, but REAL blueberries cooked inside. Biscuits are TO DIE FOR and you can get them at lunch and dinner, too. Milk gravy tastes like Grandma's. Lunch and dinner offerings are equally good. Country-fried steak is THE best. Comes with milk gravy, but I order mine with brown gravy. Perfect green beans and cream corn. Be confident ordering any casserole side on the menu. Cornbread is very tasty, too. Don't forget dessert. Chocolate Delight is DEE-lightful. Yuck! I went for dinner with my family and I got 4-vegetable plate with one extra vegetable. I couldn't finish most of it. Everything tasted like it came out of cheap cans of vegetables from Aldis. The green beans had some horrible almost metallic taste. The sweet potato casserole was the worst I have ever tasted. It looks like they just dumped a can of yams in a bowl with some marshmallows on top and microwaved it. The mashed potatoes and gravy were marginal at best. Cheap dehydrated mashed potatoes not real potatoes. Baked beans were nasty. Nothing baked about them. They were very red like someone dumped a bunch of ketchup or tomato sauce and the taste was extremely tangy with a hint of Sour Patch Kids chemical for that extra kick. I can't remember the other veggie but I remember nothing that was good. The biscuits were hard and chewy around the edges like they were warmed up from the previous morning. Corn bread was edible. The sweet tea was decent. My wife didn't like her food either and I noticed my daughter and son-in-law left a lot of food on their plate. Nice waitress that I tipped well because it wasn't her fault. I had their breakfast about 15 years ago when they were located in a small old house on Hwy 78 and thought it was great so maybe I'll give them another try for breakfast only.
