She spoke to us with an irritated, passive-aggressive tone and seemed to regard us with displeasure. She constantly visited our table and tried to rush us to leave during our entire visit. We were confused by this because we always take extra care to treat waitstaff kindly, especially since we both have a background in service. We didn't want to assume that it was from prejudice, but the continued behavior from the waitress and the clientele made us feel that it was so. Customers stared us the entire time, as if we did not belong there. When our food arrived, another customer peeked over the corner of the wall from their table. They stared at us, laughed, then returned to their table. We felt like we were in a movie due to the outlandish negative ambience of this restaurant. We had never felt so unwelcome and gawked at. One of the waitresses that checked in on us were nice, but the amount of negativity from the rest of the restaurant was too much to ignore. The food was alright, nothing special. The french toast was too egg-y for my taste. The coffee wasn't great. Biscuit and gravy was pretty good though, I'll give them that I guess. The rude service only slightly subsided after checkout. It was what I expected, feeling like a dark Dive Bar (in a good way). We saw a sign that said "Seat Yourself", so Wifey picked a high top close to the wall of beer taps. She greeted us warmly and gave us a minute to look over their extensive extensive beer selection. By the time she returned we asked if they did flights. They did not, but she said we could get three samples for the table. Wifey picked two and I ordered one Three Taverns stout called Slay the Psychonut. For food; I ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich with Tater Tots and Wifey ordered the Spinach Chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. Alyssa, quickly brought over our samples. My stout, which I realized I had before, was delicious but I decided to order the Parrish Ghost in the Machine. Wifey ordered the Bell's Oberon Eclipse wheat. When we were cutting through the patio, before we entered, I noticed a Vegas Raiders poster board so I am not sure if this is a Raiders bar. I also noticed a room labeled "Game Room" so I had to check it out. I peeked in and it was smaller than I expected. There were only 2 people in there and the only games I saw were some electronic ones all the way in the back. I was really expecting a pool table or something. Our beers arrived and Alyssa informed me that my glass was the last in the keg, so it was free. I never heard that rule before and she also said she would swap it out for me if I didn't like it. Initially, I said I am gonna keep my free beer but as I kept drinking it, it tasted a little flat and I swapped it out for another beer from Parrish. Soon after, the food came out and looked OK. We started digging in and my sandwich was good but the tots tasted like old frozen tots and were not crunchy at all. Wifely enjoyed her Chicken Spinach sandwich and sweet potato fries. I stole one of the fries and they were not crunchy either. Overall, I enjoyed my 1st visit to Summits. The extensive beer selection and the friendly, attentive service we received from Alyssa were the highlights. Her service bumped my rating up from a 3.5 to a solid 4. We will definitely be back to try some of their other beer offerings.

Over several visits, I've noticed that certain security personnel seem to pay an unusual amount of attention to us. At first, I brushed it off. There have been instances where it felt like security was watching us closely and waiting for an opportunity to confront us. I didn't want to assume the worst, but the pattern became difficult to ignore. Last night, things escalated. We were sitting at the bar, ordered food, and took it outside to the patio. Before we went outside, security specifically reminded us to make sure we paid our tab before leaving. We did exactly that and paid our tab before we left the building. As we were walking out, the same security personnel came rushing after us insisting that we needed to pay. We explained that the tab had already been paid, but instead of simply verifying it with the bartender or checking the register, the situation escalated. My friend was physically pushed by security, and what followed became an extremely serious and dangerous confrontation. What bothers me most is that this could have been handled so easily. If there was a question about our tab, simply check the payment. There was absolutely no reason for the situation to become physical. I'm not going to label the experience as racism simply because we felt singled out, nor am I going to make an accusation of homophobia that I can't definitively prove. However, we are two gay Black men, and the repeated scrutiny and aggressive treatment from certain security personnel has made us question whether our presence is genuinely welcome. I want to emphasize that some of the bartenders have always been kind to us, which makes this even more frustrating. My issue is specifically with the way certain security personnel are interacting with customers. Management should seriously review how their security staff are trained to approach and de-escalate situations. Customers should not leave a neighborhood bar feeling watched, targeted, or physically unsafe. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because we genuinely enjoyed coming here before this experience.
