In contention for best donuts in the city. I didn't get them at peak freshness but I did heat them up in the oven for a few minutes before I devoured them. That apple fritter was fantastic. Haven't had one in years and this one made me miss them. Crispy on the outside and a fluffy interior. Although I don't recall seeing or biting into any apples, it was fine because the apple flavor was large & present throughout. The regular glazed was a classic delight. Super soft with a yellow brioche type texture and interior. Can't go wrong with this excellence. The red velvet variant was about the same. I didn't really taste any thing special from the topping. That chocolate sprinkled, cake type donut was a delight. As was the Maple Bar; which actually tasted better to me after being chilled in the fridge. And lastly, my favorite: the raspberry filled glazed. Everything I loved about the original glazed but with an incredible surprise inside. Filling was literally flawless. Sweetness & Tartness were in perfect balance. This is the one I'll be getting every single visit...

Fruity pebble, blueberry with lemon glaze, passion fruit, and blueberry crumble

The first time I came this place was closed, but I saw the open sign and finally was able to try it. The donuts are delicious and there is a good amount of variety. My favorite so far is the blueberry crumble. I also like chocolate on chocolate but they didn't have any when I went. The lady working was very sweet and said she'd mention that I liked them to the owner and see if they can do them more often. I came in the try 1 donut and ended up getting 4 because I knew my wife would want to try some like the passion fruit. The place is also quite nice and inviting inside. You could come here and get a coffee and work (not sure if there is free WiFi).

Long Beach never ceases to amaze me. There are surprises everywhere. I drove by this afternoon on my way to run an errand. I was hoping to stop by 7/11 or a big chain coffee shop to get an iced coffee and I saw a donut shop in the corner of a small shopping center. When I walked it I immediately felt a positive energy. The wall on the right is a beautiful bright yellow with art and there were tables and plants hanging around. I ordered the Sea Salt Ice Coffee and it was so good. It's on the sweeter side but an easy fix if you don't like it too sweet. I also had a dozen donut holes for $2. It was a lovely experience with delicious coffee and donuts. I'll be coming back again soon to try all the other goodies.

Freshest tastiest donuts in the area. My favorites are all the blueberry and strawberry options. The green tea banana smoothie was delicious and not too sweet. They have other milk options like oat milk and almond milk. The vegan donuts are great too. Best service thanks to Jessica! We're always happy to run into her.

Vegan Blueberry Apple Fritter‼

Sweet Retreat has, BY FAR, the best vegan blueberry apple fritter on the planet! Don't sleep on this one....it's only available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays...and they sell out fast! Oh, and forgot to mention... I'm not even vegan...

I love this places. Our son has a dairy allergy and we've been on the hunt for dairy-free/vegan treats and found the perfect place. The lemon flavor had to be our favorite! They primarily have non-vegan options but we were told they have more vegan flavors on the weekend. We will definitely be back!

Awesome donuts! I'm not vegan, but if you are they have a great vegan selection. I ended up going with the Halloween ones. I got the coco one which was pistachio glazed and a red velvet cake ghost one. The person that helped me at the counter was extremely friendly and helpful! I'd definitely come back again. The decor was really cute, the place was really clean and they have little areas for you to sit and eat your donuts if you don't want to take them to go

Wowwwww, this is what a donut shop should be like. Sweet Retreats has raised the bar in so many ways. The cleanliness, quality, customer service, organization & variety. The attention to detail is amazing. I will definitely return.

Flaming hot Cheeto donut

Such great service. The lady acknowledged me and was so friendly. I ordered the flaming hot Cheeto donut. It was surprisingly delicious I even had to share it with my friend so she can experience the flavors. She was also so surprised and had to tell her friends. It's a nice place to drink and eat and relax.

Apple Fritter

We are visiting from Texas and took a chance on this donut spot. No regrets! These were delicious and the service was great also.

1. The donut was comforting, and the coffee was refreshing! 2. The spot has a fun yellow art wall with plant aesthetics around! 3. The staff were very friendly and offered to make a fresh sprinkle donut for a kid! Note: There is very limited parking, so I parked on MLK Ave (Restrictions on the Weekdays)! I'm glad to see this is more of least a normal donut shop with real normal donuts. I'm tired of these new fancy donut shops specializing in "creative" donuts with all kind of crazy toppings like every sweet cereal you grew up with priced like at $5.00 a donut or something. I go in and can tell this is one of those Asian donut shops that opened all over down here in SoCal. I think they might be Cambodian, nothing against Asians making donuts, they're the ones that started using the pink boxes we all know. Asians make the best fried chicken, so why not donuts? I look at all the donuts in the cases and they seem like all the familiar ones. I order a dozen and just point to the ones I want. The even have bear claws. I got one of those just for me. There's croissant stuff too. Service is friendly and efficient. The interior is a little dated but I'm here for donuts, not a fancy date or something. I get the donuts and eat that bear claw on my way back to the hotel to meet up with my crew. Yes, they were surprised to have nice donuts, so nothing like a happy crew to make them get the work done.

I got lucky- It was about a half hour before closing and there were no other customers. Cute little place! I was helped by Ilyas, the manager. What a stellar individual! I told him it was my first time, and my preferences (not big on frosting, but like interesting flavor combos) and he walked me through the different types. I was happily surprised to see that they carried some traditional donuts as well as the frosted themed ones! I found that this shop was related to Simones donuts which is a great business! They even do cookie tins and caramels. A couple of the special edition donuts looked so decadent and flavorful but more like a dessert that I commented. He then brought out for me one that was a brand new item and it sounded perfect- a sugar donut topped with strawberry mascarpone encircling a pandan center and I had to get it. He even let me have my themed matcha donut without the fancy little emblem for $1 less! So nice. Those, with a biscoff donut and a logo pin completed my purchase. The pandan topping was sweet but the mascarpone was reminiscent of a strawberry yogurt and the flavors blended perfectly. The other donuts were huge, fluffy and perfectly textured. I would have liked a stronger biscoff and matcha strawberry flavor in those crumbles but at least they were not sweet! Just delicious. The prices are fairly high but I will definitely stop by occasionally to see what delicious creations they are whipping up and get myself a treat!

Tons of board games, books and wonderfully mellow music helps make the experience feel comforting and inviting. Our drinks were prepared quickly and shouted at the coffee bar for pickup. The presentation was great, but the flavors, out of this world! The Cinnamon Dulce Latte was OUTSTANDING. So good, in fact, that my girlfriend stole it from me! I left this place running for my car…read more The location is in a rough area of town, so while the donuts were edible, I felt compelled to issue a quick heads up warning for any unsuspecting newcomers. As I entered the parking lot I witnessed a lady hanging out of the window of a car missing a rear bumper, cursing at a minivan that looked like it had recently been involved in a series of hit-and-run crimes. I'm unclear what occurred before I got there, but kept my head down and quickly parked and scurried inside. The entrance had cardboard on the ground laid out like some sort of Oscar the Grouch red carpet. There were two people sitting at the middle two tables with portable shopping carts filled with assorted belongings. The interior matched the rest of neighborhood with random stuff laid out on counter tops, and a general dirty feeling that made me consider whether I wanted to buy food here, but I was already inside. There was a single woman working the counter. She was polite and matter of fact. I had promised my kids donuts, so I ordered my box to go. While she used appropriate tongs to put them in the box, she didn't bother to fully close or seal the box. Just looking to get out of there as quickly as possible, I headed immediately back to my car but was followed by an unknown man shouting at me asking if I could spare a dollar. I quickly fidgeted for my keys and pulled the door closed and locked it behind me. This was at 9am. I cannot imagine this place late at night. The donuts were basic and not overly sweet, more of a fried bread. My kids ate a few bites of each but it wasn't worth the stress of getting them.

Final total on the register was $8.88 (without tip) for one donut and no drinks. That is 3 apple fritters at another spot, which I DO NOT mind paying, if there is something high quality or fantastic about the donut I am eating, which this was not. It was a simple raised yeast donut base with a scoop of rice on top, green food dye, fresh mango chunks, and some coconut shavings. I thought there would be something on the inside (more mango filling or a cream) or something different about the dough (tiny mango pieces inside, a different spice), but it was like another plain donut with things placed on top. One of those things being simple rice. Definitely felt like the donut didn't justify the price. What if I bought 3 different donuts and a drink. Would it be $25? Not enough of a flavor difference for me to pay that next time.
