I've been wanting to visit and finally came in before a Sunday morning walk. Staff were friendly and answered my questions about the pastries before a final decision was made. I ordered an iced the On My Way latte with a passion fruit pastry. Ugh - I was on my way to heaven! The flavors were pronounced and neither were too sweet and I ended up with flakes everywhere (as one does with a deliciously well-made pastry). I really wanted to like this place and perhaps it was an off day.. but between the extremely rude person at the front taking my order, the lack of customization on the lattes, and the actual taste - I just feel there's much better spots to visit for coffee in Long Beach. Let's start with service: the woman at the front was very dry, quiet, and uninterested. We tried asking her if we could add cold foam or sweet cream to our drinks to make them sweeter, and she said it was only available on seasonal drinks. As an avid matcha latte consumer, this made zero sense to me. While I don't blame her bc she likely had nothing to do with that decision, she wasn't kind in relaying that information or trying to help me find something on the menu I may like. Her demeanor remained the same when my friend ordered his drink, and we both felt a very negative energy coming from this woman, simply put it didn't seem like she wanted to be there taking our order. This was around 1pm last Saturday (the 21st of March), so they had a decent amount of customers, but it wasn't some crazy morning rush. Forward to the drink : we grabbed our drinks which came out promptly. I tasted my matcha and just as I suspected due to the lack of sweetness, it just tasted like grassy chalk. I assumed that my friends latte would be better, as matcha can tend to have an earthy taste to it to begin with. Then I tried his... chalky and sour. Due to the lack of customization and the barista's attitude, we just took a couple sips and tossed our drinks. It was a super negative experience for a place I really really wanted to like. I think allowing people to use sweetener and cold foam on more than just seasonal lattes would be a great first start, and perhaps training the staff on appropriate customer interaction would also help. Loved the branding on this spot, but it seems like the people who work there don't want to be there and it really put a damper on the experience, and for a place so cute, the drinks and vibes should be top notch. read more

Such a cute, adorable little coffee shop on the corner--very welcoming and cozy. The staff was friendly and made the whole experience even better. I ordered an iced matcha latte with a shot of espresso, and it was just okay--not really impressive. My daughter got a chai, and she felt the same way about hers. It might just be my taste buds today, so I'm definitely open to giving this place another try. Next time, I'd love to try one of their regular coffee drinks and see how that compares! read more

This was my first time trying coffee drunk and I personally wasn't impressed. I got my usual order an iced latte with cinnamon and honey. The straws given are really tiny and I felt my latte was watered down relatively quick. The service was decent. The ambience is not my preference. I love coming to CoffeeDrunk. The vibes are really chill with friendly and attentive staff. It gets really packed and can be a bit loud, so I'd recommend it more for meetups than working. On this visit I tried the fall menu item, Pier Pressure. It has apple syrup, caramel drizzle, milk, & matcha. All of these ingredients blend perfectly together, creating Fall right in your cup. We opted for the On My Way latte (house-made salted pistachio syrup, espresso, milk), one of their "Claim to Fame" drinks. We found it to be pleasant and not too sweet. We also ordered the Weekend in Long Beach off the seasonal menu (muddled orange, house-made yuzu syrup, maple syrup, fever-tree tonic - only available iced). We subbed the espresso float for a matcha float for $1 and found the drink to be light, refreshing, and energizing - perfect for a hot summer day. We saw people order and leave, and we also saw people order and stay to read a book or work on their laptops (there are a few outlets throughout the shop). The environment is laid back and perfect for a quick stop or a longer stay. Street parking is available in front of the shop for a fee, as well as in the surrounding neighborhoods. read more

I've been here twice now and I wanted to like it so bad both times but it just didn't hit for me as much as the reviews were hyping it up. The espresso tasted really smoky and it's not really what I enjoy (but it might just be personal preference). I've gotten The Instigator the first time I went and the On My Way Latte the second time. which are both pretty popular drinks. For The Instigator, I didn't really taste much of the flavor and tasted just like a plain latte to me. The On My Way Latte was a lot better in terms of flavor, but it wouldn't be something I'd come back for. It's pretty busy inside but the baristas work really quickly! There were tables but they definitely fill up fast. The decor inside is really cute and plenty of people were studying inside. read more

Delicious! I love the decor of the place, all the witty signs inside and the overall vibe make it a great place to be. I ordered the instigator at the recommendation of the barista and it was delicious! Not overly sweet and it had a moderately strong coffee taste, I would for sure get that again! Decided to try a new coffee shop since we were in the area and this was one of the closest and highest rated ones so we decided to head on over! It was definitely a poppin spot. They have a small parking lot next door that was basically empty so we just parked there and walked over, didn't think we would take long. We walked in,place is PACKED. The line wrapped around the whole shop which was wild but it moved quickly. I wanted to try their seasonal drinks originally but then I saw that they had a pistachio latte (on my way latte) on their regular menu and instantly gravitated towards that! I love pistachio anything so I had to get it. I ordered a small, didn't want to go crazy, immediate regrets. I fell in love with this drink SO HARD. The pistachio flavor was strong! The coffee was strong! It was the perfect cup. I noticed the baristas also shake their drinks in a mason jar which I have never seen before. They had a small bench right in front of the pickup area for you to sit and wait. Their decor and logo are the cutest! Upside down decor and even a trippy/fuzzy text sign that made it seem like you were "drunk". Overall a great experience and sad that this place isn't closer to us (about a 45-50 min drive). I am so obsessed with the Hall Pass collaboration that they're doing with Bar Becky. It's freaking delicious and worth all $10. The Hall Pass is basically an elevated Peanut Butter & Jelly matcha latte. It sounds too thick and decadent, but it's perfect. They've dialed down the richness of the peanut butter and amplified the fruitiness of the strawberry rhubarb jam to compliment each other and the matcha wonderfully. I've gotten four of the since the collaboration started. It's amazing!! Get it while you can. read more

Honestly place is overrated. Spent almost $20 on a pastry and coffee. The raspberry cruffin was good but very messy. However, my biggest disappointment is the coffee. I go to different coffee places often and what I recognize is places with alot of customers and look beautiful inside have bad coffee. I ordered a regular caramel latte extra sweet but could taste nothing but straight coffee and a hint of caramel. Just taste like regular coffee with no syrup nothing spectacular. And no crash afterwards :) they also make cookies that are to die for. I am a fan of the seasonal menu item drinks and have tried most of them! I recently tried the Chico latte which is supposed to resemble a Chico candy stick. It had strong espresso flavor but didn't have much flavor besides that. I expected it to be a little sweeter but it was all peanut butter and espresso. I also tried the dirtier than your dm's drink which is supposed to be a chai latte espresso with white chocolate drink. Again it had no sweetness and only a subtle taste of chai. I used to LOVE this place, especially when they opened. Everyone was super cool some years ago. However I went a few days ago and ordered a vanilla iced latte and a chai latte. I spent 20$ on the 2 drinks (tip included) with expectations of them being really good. My boyfriend's latte tasted super weak so I went back to the counter to order an extra shot for it. The lady charged me $4.75 for an additional shot On the menu, it said to add an extra espresso shot to a drink the charge is $1.00. The lady taking my order again definitely was aware of that and still proceeded to charge me for an espresso shot as if I didn't just buy 2 drinks. I even told her I'm buying an extra espresso shot for my partners drink because it's too weak. I don't know it felt pretty lame. Used to love this place but will not be supporting them anymore unfortunately due to this shitty interaction:/ UPDATE: due to the owners accountability on the workers and being very apologetic, she even refunded my account from that transaction and reached out to me personally ! Great spot! Espresso drink with unique flavor combinations you won't find anywhere else, and matcha and spiced chai for the tea lovers. I tried the iced chocolate chai. I do not like the sweet powdered chai lattes found at most coffee shops. This chocolate chai was the perfect balance of spice, nuttiness from the chocolate, and perfectly sweet (not overdone). They have a breakfast burrito (got the vegetarian option with poblano chiles), that although seemed steep ($12) for a microwaved burrito, it was so delicious I would get it again (don't let the wrapping and prep let you pass up this tasty option if your a bit hangry). Pastries were brought in from an outside bakery, but good overall (note the double chocolate donut is a bit bland and not super sweet, but would be great with a black coffee). Clean single bathroom, a reasonable amount of seating but this place is popular so you may have to wait for a spot. read more
