This was my first visit to Cyclops Coffee. This whole plaza has been updated with new stores and it looks great. I love the new modern look and the addition of this café. The café has outside and inside seating. I prefer to sit outside since there were a lot of students working on their laptops and I didn't want to cause any distraction since we were there to mingle and chat. Being outside was nice, but you also still have other people seated outside, or in passing. The barista/cashier was friendly, especially when I let him know that it was my first time. He asked me what my likes were and said he can make that for me. I went with a hot honey cinnamon vanilla latte and it was good. It may have needed more to it because it was not flavorful and sweet enough. I couldn't taste the honey or cinnamon. It tastes more like a vanilla latte. But I think this is an easy fix next time I order. They also have a restroom for customers which I visited, and it was clean. There is plenty of parking and this is definitely a college crowd, but welcome to everyone. read more

Nice little coffee shop, clean lines, cute, airy decor. Very much a CSULB vibe here. Stopped in early one morning for a "fancy" drink and pastry. Got the Chai latte-good, creamy and frothy and maybe a tad sweet. Lots of pastries to choose from-I got a cinnamon knot to go with the flavor of the chai. I love how natural tasting their matcha is. It isn't overly sweet or bitter. I also got a chocolate donut, it was ehhh. It was cold af lol and not worth the price. It was pretty packed in there when it comes to finding a study spot. They do have a decent amount of tables as well as the counter tables. Recently started going here and I am hooked. It honestly never fails me, the ambience is so welcoming from the moment you walk through that door and leave. The staff is always kind. Earlier today I placed an order via their website, but when I got there the parking lot was full. I didn't want to park far since I had both my kids so it's rough getting in and out of the car for something that'll take 10 seconds. I called the location and the employee who answered (I wish would've caught the employees name, he has a sleeve tattoo) was kind of enough to bring my coffee for me. Ahh I wanted to like Cyclops so bad, I was so excited to finally try it after hearing great things about it. I'm really hoping I went on an off day. Their drink options are great, I love the creative flavor combinations and I love banana lattes and ube lattes. The cashier was very sweet it was a good start. I decided on the Banana Ube latte- they made me the cookies n cream one accidentally & handed it to me but didn't tell me as I was leaving, I had to come back in and then they said they knew it was supposed to be banana. They remade the other one and let me keep the old one which is nice- but upon taking a sip I was hit with really really sour espresso and graininess that I wasn't sure was coffee grinds or their ube. The service is top notch. The person who helped us at the register was friendly and super helpful. While I was waiting for my matcha she saw a dad with two kids sitting outside on the ground enjoying their treats. She went out and brought them chairs because the other seats were taken. Super sweet and thoughtful! My matcha was delicious. They have the ever so popular vegan donuts my kids love so we grabbed two of those too. There are about 10 tables with chairs inside as well as a counter to sit at towards the back. It's clean and welcoming inside, everything you could want at a little coffee shop. It took less than theee minutes for my latte to be uttered from my lips to manifested in my hand. $6.50 for a small iced latte with syrup hurts the pocket but it's 2025 and helps the soul, so definitely worth it. I ordered an iced latte with their seasonal banana caramel syrup (funky monkey). The espresso dominates the top half of the drink, which is creamy, smooth, and pretty mild. Once the heavier syrup hits, it's slightly sweeter and somehow richer. Definitely more low-key than some of the banana lattes I've tried recently. I recommend checking this spot out! This place has been on my list of local coffee shops to try and I'm glad I finally got to it. The barista was kind enough to help me decide on what to get for my first drink here. He started off by asking if I like my coffee on the sweet or not so sweet side. Going for the not sweet option he recommended the Banana Latte (I've been wanting to try a banana latte) so of course I said yes! The recommendation did not disappoint. The banana flavor is subtle and not overpowering and made a great combination with their blonde roast iced coffee. There were plenty of available open tables on a Sunday around noon. A small cafe tucked in the strip mall on Clark ave. Parking may be a bit tricky as the lot fills up quickly (if it's a weekend you can park in the auto shop lot next door) Ambience was nice, it was pretty busy on a Saturday morning with most people getting their items to go, and most tables occupied with guests. Everything overall was clean and well taken care of. I ordered one of their fall seasonal drinks, a brown sugar expresso. It was good, a nice mix of sweet and coffee taste, but not too strong. The drink came mixed so if you wanted a cute pic for insta, you probably won't have. But the taste is what I cared about and that was just right for me, I would probably return to try another seasonal drink as I am a fan of the flavors. The banana didn't really shine through actually I didn't even think there was banana because of the caramel. To me it was rich and almost a bit too sweet. Banana sometimes can be too much. When I went they had Filipino venders selling baked goods and I thought that was cool because they it local businesses. They have different cold foams and I like the seasonal drinks. For whatever reason, it didn't dawn on me that the cafe may be named based on a comic book character, however you see it right away with the artwork displayed inside. There is ample seating with four lounge chairs outside. It's not too loud but does seem to be busy. I got an espresso, as always and let the little one choose a baked good. Came here before class and the service was just amazing! The coffee was delicious too but I want to highlight how helpful, sweet, and bright the staff was. I was not having a good morning but I had a small interaction with one of the workers (silly one too lol) and it just brightened up my day tbh. I had asked for help on finding something sweet but that would help me wake up too. The cashier recommended the vanilla caramel latte but then she said the vanilla honey latte was also sweet but not as sweet which is why I decided to go with it and wow did not disappoint!! So far I have tried a cortado, a latte, and a cold brew with the "Smashing Pumpkin" pumpkin spice cold foam on top. They have all been solid drinks and I've enjoyed them all. There are small pastries in the case, but not much in the way of food. We like that they have great hours of operation and typically open early and close late in comparison to surrounding coffee and espresso bar options. This is a really neat spot and was the perfect environment to work at and focus. I came here on a Thursday late morning to early afternoon. Everyone in here had a laptop open and was working. Every table had an outlet and the bench seating along the wall has cubby's built in so you can keep your belongings out of the way. The WiFi password was easily posted. I didn't have to get up to find it. I just looked up and it was right where I needed it to be. Bathroom was clean. Parking was fine late morning. By the time 2:30 rolled around and school was out, the lot was full and there were more cars wanting to come in than spots. Overall, great coffee spot! True rating: 4.5 Definitely seeing eye to eye with Cyclops Coffee! I was looking for a good spot to do some work, and a friend had recommended I try Cyclops. What caught my eye is the many spacious tables in this aesthetic coffee shop. And, this trendy spot CLOSES AT 9! It is so rare to find minimalistic coffee shops that don't close before 7PM. I ordered their matcha latte with sugar free vanilla. Flavor was okay, but I felt like that matcha kept separating really quickly (not sure if that's an issue from preparation of the drink or the quality of the matcha itself). However, the barista was cordial and prepared my drink quickly, so can't complain too much. I'm also glad they offer their drinks in 12 and 16-oz sizes. We love options! This an amazing spot to get work done or study for an exam, especially since they have plenty of plugs and, again, close late. I hate to give this place a low review! The staff is so friendly, and they made my coffee so quick. I got a 16oz iced latte with oat milk and banana cold foam. I love that this place is open late and I really wanted to like it because I work nights and it's so hard to find anything besides Starbucks at 6pm, but the cost and flavor is most likely going to keep me away. The first disappointment was the price - my drink was $10! I don't think I've ever paid $10 for an iced latte. The drink itself was $7 then oatmilk was $1 extra, and the cold foam was $2! I didn't really mind on the spot because I thought it was going to be delicious. Sadly, I couldn't taste any banana what so ever. The espresso and oat milk were good, very smooth and nice strong espresso, but zero banana taste. I even opened the lid and tried the foam solo and still couldn't taste banana. $10 is way way too much for a flavor I can't even taste. Besides all of that, the place is super cute and has a decent amount of seating. There are some pastries as well, looks like they're sourced in from somewhere else in LB, I saw a ham and cheese croissant and some sweet pastries. I ordered the stretcher, which is an Americano infused with nitrogen. I was so impressed that they offered a nitrogen Americano. I have never been to a coffee shop that makes this. I added sugar-free vanilla syrup. I am very glad that they offered sugar-free options. I thought vanilla enhance the flavor nicely. Barista let me sample the nitrogen cold brew. It had a very smooth flavor. It was probably the smoothest cold brew I've ever had My friend got a vanilla cappuccino with whole milk which he really liked. The highlight of my experience was definitely the kindness of the barista. He provided excellent service and was such a kind person overall. The price was affordable. They accepted contactless payment. It was easy to find parking. There was a restroom available for customer use. they sold merchandise. they had grab and go options. Only one person was working at the time, so they were taking orders and making drinks. Service was very quick and friendly. I ordered their seasonal Smashing Pumpkin (pumpkin, cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamon). I couldn't taste any pumpkin or cinnamon at all and it tasted like any other ordinary coffee/latte I could get, so I was a little disappointed. I orginally ordered a drip coffee, and noticed after I got it, that they had a seasonal drink called the Smashing Pumpkin (pumpkin, cardomom, nutmeg, cinnamon) and was bummed. But the barista was so kind she offered to add it to my drink so that I could try it out. I loved the blend of flavors that reminded me of Halloween time. Definitely a smooth drink that I will try again. The second time I came here, I tried the hot Ube cookies and creme latte and I loved it, the ube with cookies and creme was a great hit. The staff was very friendly, and the barista even remembered my order from when I came here a month ago. That alone deserves high praise.
