I never had the chance to visit the old Malt Shop so I don't have the same frame of reference as other reviewers, but I do know that it was a neighborhood classic. I went on a Friday night, and was pleasantly surprised with the interior- vintage vibes with stain glass, ice cream counter and a car, but a little more modern with a TV at the bar and updated seats. Foodwise, we started with cheese curds. The ranch it came with was very good and so were the curds but the sambal sauce tasted like watered down marinara. i think using marinara and adding sambal without watering either down would have improved it). For burgers, I got the smash burger with fruit and my partner got the regular burger and both were very good with pillowy bread. We got fries and they were good, but overally salted. Of course we had to get shakes, and we for a small. The banana shake was delicious but the small was definitely expensive for the size. Service was okay- staff was friendly, but our table didn't come with utensils and we didn't have napkins when we had our apps and did not find any until our burgers arrived. Not a big deal but it would have been nice to have something to wipe off our cheesecurd grease. Overall, I would come back for the malt and shakes, especially the boozy ones

Malt shop is a childhood favorite of mine and it's even better than I remember! Now, they have a full bar and an area where the seats look like cars, which is cool for the kids! I had the malt burger and it was really good! And the fried pickles are great if you need to satisfy that craving! Service was fast and the waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable! I will always recommend!

    Sad cheese-less nachos.

Our dinner here was just bizarre. The service was inattentive and missing for most of the meal. We ordered apps, mains, and drinks. It took about 45 min to get the drinks and we had to remind them we had ordered drinks. The shake was half blended and dropped on the table in the can, no glass like the other tables. My kiddo ordered nachos and they came without cheese. We would have asked about the lack of cheese, but our server never came back to check on us. The burgers were pretty overcooked, one with a burnt bun. We eventually grabbed another server and paid the bill at the counter to leave. For the price, we would have been able to go to Culver's 3-4 times and had a better meal each time.

Great atmosphere and a little bar area. Real raspberry shake! Burgers are excellent. Sauces matched to the burger. Smashburger was delicious. Onion rings were perfect. No complaints.... Great lunch option!

The food was yummy. We had the BLTA. The service was slow, but I think the person was new based on him getting 3 parts of a simple order wrong. The floors did feel like they were mopped with a dirty mop and the filth was so thick on the menu I was able to scrape it off with a fingernail. I really like this place but it needs tidy some things up and not leave a new guy alone with 4 tables.

This was my first time here and the food tasted so good and the shake was great up until I found two long pieces of hair melted inside of my Burger. I $32 just for me to have to throw The rest of my burger away

Their black cherry malt is right up there with my mother's cheesecake. Malt, service and ambiance all six out of five stars.

This place does get busy so definitely keep that in mind. Luckily I made reservations ahead of time so we had a table waiting for us, otherwise we would have been put on a waiting list since it's a small space. They put us in a corner booth which was nice and spacious enough for 4 people so I'd definitely recommend asking for a booth verse a table if you're planning to come with a larger group. The servers are all very friendly and helpful. I appreciated their attentiveness and sharing what they like best, especially for what's in season based on the time of year. The menu has quite a bit of variety too which is sometimes unexpected when you come to a pub-style location. For appetizers we got Onion Ring and Fried Pickles. They were both really good and served with dipping sauces. Definitely both shareable items so if you're in a group they'd be great options! My entree I chose the Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon served with lemon soy marinade, creamy cucumbers, and jasmine rice -- it was SO good!! I loved the creaminess of the cucumbers especially with the rice and than the lemon soy marinade was just a unique touch to the salmon. Toned the flavors down without overpowering acidity. And the salmon was so dreamy, a beautiful pink color that you just knew it wasn't a farm raised salmon. Plus the portion was very generous!! I'd definitely recommend the Alaskan Sockeye Salmon to anyone interested in visiting here. #eatwildsavewild The only negatives (which are more so just knowledge bombs for you): * Restaurant is VERY loud. It's hard to hear because it is one small room that everyone plus the bar is in. I wished I would have took a picture to show what I mean. Just know that if it's an intimate setting you're looking for this is not the place. So be prepared to talk loudly over the loudness and ask "excuse me?" or "repeat that" many times throughout your visit because you're not going to hear everything. * Timed eating. Because this place is a hit with limited seating, once you get a table and complete your meal/payment you'll kindly be asked to leave so that they can clean up and open the table to next in line. Totally get that and am not put off by this at all, but I could see how it could catch some folks off guard especially if you are out for a meal with folks you may not see frequently-- so just keep that in mind. This is not the place to sit and talk post meal. * Parking is limited. Be prepared to walk a few blocks as the road parking in front of the business is pretty limited especially with the other stores and restaurants in the area. Regardless of those few bullets I highly recommend folks visit George & The Dragon. It's a really cool spot and the food was great! Plus theirs a malt shop right next door that looks yummy too, so definitely worth visiting and getting malts after for dessert.

A great beer selection and cocktails that looked delicious but the server didn't seem to know very much about either. The brussel sprouts were my favorite part, you have to try them if you come here. Nightingale was packed, but fortunately, once two patrons saw my face from the bar, they quickly paid their bill and left. My face often compels people to vacate crowded establishments in Minneapolis, and we often find seats. After grabbing the two seats, we ordered wine and a wonderful Amaro-based cocktail. Jules was our bartender/server, and although he was crazy busy, he found time to be gracious to us. We ordered the meatball appetizer, halibut, and the Nightingale hamburger. My halibut was sublime, cooked perfectly, and it wasn't drowned in sauce. Bravo! The meatballs were tender and delicious, but the hamburger was not memorable. It was good, not great. Despite all the accolades above, when the bill came, I was charged two dollars after requesting a cucumber slice for my Pimms Cup. Perhaps the source of this pettiness came from the kitchen, but it wasn't smart, because the $2.00 charge placed a shroud over my experience. The bill was $125, and because of the petty two-buck charge, I only left a $25 tip. I was going to leave a $30 tip. I will sadly remember those 2 bucks forever. It was a myopic move and a passive-aggressive way to handle my request. In my birthplace home of NYC, a bartender would have said, "Getting a cucumber slice is a pain in the rear, would you mind skipping it?" My response, "Sure, it's not a big deal."

The service was genuinely friendly and pleasant throughout our visit, which went a long way. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the setting. I tried the NY Strip special, which was fine but nothing memorable - exactly what you'd expect, no more, no less. The oysters were disappointing for the price point; the quality just wasn't there. The mushroom bruschetta similarly underwhelmed - it felt like it was missing something to make it stand out. The bright spot? The drinks were solid and well-crafted. I wanted to rate this higher based on the atmosphere and service alone, but at the end of the day, the food has to deliver. With so many great options in Minneapolis, Nightingale needs to step up its culinary game to match its lovely setting. I'd consider returning for drinks, but probably not for dinner.

The hostess kindly took my carryon bag and stored it for me while one of the servers walked me to my seat. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. Fantastic place to hang out and have fun while enjoying good food and drinks with friends. Feels more like an approachable bistro than a stuffy fancy restaurant. The menu is a playful take of American classics with a French twist or viceversa in some cases. I started my meal with a single oyster. Refreshing and bright, it was the perfect way to open the meal. Next was the tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich. Presentation was a bit sloppy with some soup dripping on the side of the bowl, but the soup was so velvety and delicious I couldn't care any less about. The crispy bread and melty, gooey cheese was immediate comfort on a plate. The tanginess of the cheese went perfectly with the natural sweetness of the soup. Third course was one of the most delicious risottos I've ever had. Earthy mushrooms, creamy , perfectly cooked rice topped with crispy green apple sticks and.....blueberries?!
