Let me tell you about this restaurant!!! It is amazing!!!! This place is a gem. I hear there are actually 4 locations. 2 buildings and 2 trucks. If you see one, stop whatever you're doing immediately, and order something to eat!!!! The selection of food is more than I expected to be packed into this tiny building. I had the rice and beans, which were fine. I had the cabbage and carrots and wow!!!!!The flavor profile of this dish is amazing!!! The sweetness of the carrots and whatever seasoning they added (I asked, but he wouldn't tell me) made this dish beyond delicious. For the main course I had the Jerk Chicken. It was soooo flavorful!! The spices were out of this world, and true to what I was warned, this carried some heat!!! Not for the faint of heart!!! I finished my meal, well half of it, when I realized there were so many more things I hadn't tried!! So I ordered more. Just to taste immediately, and to take home as leftovers. :) The mac and cheese was good, and in line with what you would expect from a baked mac and cheese dish. Very creamy. The sweet corn was good. Nothin fancy, but delicious. The chicken curry was delicious and juicy. Not a spicy curry, just a great flavorful chicken curry. I thought I was done ordering, until I saw the beef patty. Soft breading on the outside, and a delicious beef puree type filling on the inside. I wanted to eat the whole thing, but by this point, my stomach would just not allow it. :) The staff. I'm not sure how often the staff rotates, but if you're lucky enough to have one of the 2 great girls that helped me, consider yourself lucky. They explained to me, before I ordered, what each dish was, and patiently and expertly answered all of my questions. My husband and I are in Savannah for the Rock n Roll marathon. I take my pre race meal very seriously and did some research ahead of time. I may be a runner but I dislike pasta. I also avoid Mexican and sushi before a big race to avoid GI issues. This place had good reviews so I bookmarked it. The restaurant has a couple of tables but it seems like most people order to go. After checking out the menu, I decided on the jerk chicken. I got rice & peas and carrots & cabbage for my sides. My husband ordered the oxtails. The jerk chicken was spicy and tender. It went perfect with the rice. I also tried the oxtails. The meat was tender. We both cleaned out plates. We finished our meals by sharing a slice of the coconut cake. Neither of us really loves coconut but we were fighting over the last bite of this delicious dessert. The filling in between the layers had a taste of pineapple. I definitely recommend this place. Best Jamaican food I've ever had!!! I'm not Jamaican, but I've grown up in South Florida where there are a ton of Jamaican restaurants and have many Jamaican friends, so I feel like it's a big deal for me to say this is the best I've had. I couldn't believe that there was such a great Jamaican spot in Savannah, Georgia. If you're visiting Savannah, like we were, this is about 10-15 mins away from the historic district area but most definitely worth your drive. It is located in a small strip of different businesses and it is a small locale with maybe space for up to 20 people (maybe less) to sit inside. We initially went up to the counter because no one really greeted us when we came in, so I thought maybe you had to order at the counter. But the girl then asked if we were taking to go or eating in and we said eating in, so she got us some menus and we sat down. My husband then ordered their mixed fruit smoothie drink and a beef patty for us to share. I was hesitant to try the fruit smoothie, because I'm so picky, but it was really good!!! The beef patty was also delicious with the right amount of spice. We then decided to get the sampler to share (three meats and two sides) of which we chose the oxtail, jerk chicken and curry goat with white rice (because they had run out of rice and peas) and plantains. Once that came and I tried the goat I soon realized that I'm not a fan of it. It wasn't the curry, it was the goat flavor that I didn't really like, but I would've never known had I not given it a try (yes, stepped outside my bubble). The oxtail tasted soooo good though (my fav). It had the right flavors. My husband says he doesn't normally like oxtail (because it's too fatty), but he enjoyed this one. And the jerk chicken was good and spicy. Yum!!! Then we were still a little hungry (since we had shared everything), so we ordered another beef patty and fried dumplings or as they call them there, Johnny Cakes. They were perfectly fried with the right amount of sweetness. Had never had those before and I really enjoyed them. Even told one of my Jamaican friends about it and she told me that's something they usually have for breakfast, so maybe that's why I hadn't tried it before. I recommend everyone trying the goat curry, oxtail, and the baked chicken. Make sure you get plenty of gravy over your rice. Oh yeah their lemonade is off the chain- as you say it in the deep south (really good). The owner is super friendly, too friendly because he keeps on asking me where i've been and all.. His restaurant has been getting popular over the number of years due to the amount of yelpers flooding in to review. I have met some, out of towners at his restaurant who ask me what should they eat... probably everything off the menu and licking their dishes. Their jerk chicken is way too spicy and salty. The only downfall is the staff, they give you little to almost close to nothing on your plate. The portions are already tiny- microscopic amoeba. When the staffs put the food on your plate, they carve some portions off your plate. This is not generous by the way- I SEE IT with my own eyes. How can you, take away my mouth watering food. My stomach is about to eat itself ALIVE!!! Restaurant is tiny, i wouldn't dine in because too many people coming through it like a choo choo train. Parking is another killer!!! read more

To drink: I got the pineapple ginger juice, and it had a pretty strong ginger flavor... if you're not into the ginger taste then I don't recommend ordering it. I thought it was good though, because ginger is really good for the body. To eat: I got the sampler platter which you can select 3 meats. I chose the jerk chicken, oxtails, and curry goat. The jerk chicken was pretty dry, didn't have much flavor, and didn't live up to jerk chicken I've had before. I feel like the flavor, and spice has been toned down for the crowd that goes, which is unfortunate because that's essential to jerk chicken. The best part of the platter was the oxtail, and curry goat. Except the serving size was a joke. I thought they were messing with me giving me half a tablespoon of each meat. My stomach was pissed. After eating my meal... I was still hungry. As a starch, I got rice and peas, and cabbage and carrots as my vegetables. These two items were good. Just serving size could have been a little more generous. I paid $13 for this meal, which may sound like a lot, and it was, especially because it was honestly a joke of a portion. It was very upsetting. If you do go here I recommend ordering oxtail or curry goat on its own, and maybe your portion size won't be as little. I have been here 4 times this past year when ever I'm in Savannah. This is hands down the best Caribbean food I have had in my life. The jerk chicken is out of this world good! So spicy and tender, I cannot get enough of this and have had this 3 times. I have also tried the curry goat and the oxtail which were also delicious. The curry shrimp was also yummy! The sides are also fantastic! Johnny cakes are so hot and flaky! Yummy! I also love the plantains here. They are sweet and perfectly caramelized. Can't go wrong with these 2 sides! Visiting my parents over the holiday break, I went here 3 times in a week. The brown stew is some of the best I've had...food overall is some of the best Jamaican I've had. This is taking into account my own family's and my Atlanta favs. The owner is very kind and accommodating. If it's not on the menu but something you like, he will say "I can make it" and proceed to go back and cook it for you. He did this with callaloo for my sister and brown stew whole fish for me. Be patient as it takes time to prepare, you can call ahead also. Some items aren't listed on the menu as far as pricing (even though they will make it), so confirm what the price is first so you are not surprised. That is the only thing I'd ask of the owner is to make pricing consistent and known on the board and paper menus. Back to the brown stew. It looked so different from what I was used to. Most are a dark brown color and this was more of an orangeish hue. I was hesitant at first and after the first few bites, sooo pleasantly delighted. Extremely flavorful. The patties were better than some I had IN Jamaica. In particular, the spinach patty. Crusty perfection with a cheesy-spinach filling. Not too little filling, not too much breading. Prices are pretty reasonable as well. Seating is limited to a few tables but you can also get it to-go. It is in a small shopping center with a couple of other small restaurants (most noteworthy, a Filipino restaurant that has high reviews but wasn't open when I wanted to try - it's next). Came here when there were only about 20 yelp reviews when they first opened. The best fried chicken and mac and cheese in the area and guess where they're from???? BROOKLYN! The owner was telling me he was from my neighborhood in Bed-Stuy, where you can get amazing Caribbean food in the area and ride over to Crowne Heights and Flatbush for some more.
