Found this gem while in town visiting Savannah with some friends. Upon entry, you're immediately greeted and there's a menu with all the specials for the day. I decided to go with the brown stew fish with rice and peas and mac and cheese as my side. My friend ordered the turkey wings with white rice and sweet green peas. The lady taking our order did let us know that it would be a while for our order to be completed since the fish is cooked to order. There was a small seating area adjacent to the ordering area, so we sat there while waiting for our food to be done. It took a little longer than expected, but the food was definitely worth the wait. The fish was very flavorful and was packed with onions and peppers. The rice and peas paired well with the fish and sauce. The mac and cheese was just okay. My friend thought the turkey wings had a great flavor, but were slightly overcooked. I would come back again the next time I'm in town, but would definitely order ahead to cut down on the wait time. read more

Top tier restaurant for Jamaican food. Truly authentic. Some of the specialty items are cooked to order such as the stew shrimp, but if you're like me I don't mind waiting for fresh food. Island Breeze can be difficult to find if you're not familiar with the area. Located on Montgomery Street next door to BoBo's seafood and across the street from an auto body shop. The customer service is good but as a native New Yorker I expect a little attitude from all Carribean restaurants, that's how I know the food is going to be amazing. Haha. I don't get attitude from anyone here but I've called in orders before and the person has definitely been short with me. Again, not a negative because the food is bomb. The inside is small so not made for a crowd. I tend to order my food and then wait in my car or order ahead so the food is ready when I arrive. It gets very busy in there especially at lunch time and if you're like me and always want a patty, make sure to double check because they sell out quickly. read more

Ok, so first of all, this is some of the absolutely most-flavorful Jamaican food I've ever had in my entire life, the brown sauce chicken is just--wow. Perfectly seasoned, ample, supple, fried plantains, very good rice n peas, too. But that chicken: I want to go right back now and try the oxtails and the jerk chicken too. If you like Jamaican food but don't like spicy, btw, check out the brown sauce chicken here or at most Jamaican places because it rules and is not hot and spicy but not low on flavor at all, either. But that is only the half of it, quite literally: they are also a club and have dancing on weekends and it's fire. I was in there like at 7:30pm getting my take-away and their DJ dropped a Stush track into a Michael Jackson remix and that's all I needed to know: these people KNOW their music. I mean to bring in Stush like that, tho. The doorman in his white tux reminds me of a Haitian boker but everyone here is super-nice, too. And despite what someone else said, it's not a bad neighborhood, either but you DO have to watch out for traffic because this place is super-popular as is another place down the way and Montgomery Street is crazy anyways so it's a bit like MarioKart trying to pull in and pull back out on the street, ok? I decided to give Island Breeze a chance after seeing the reviews here on Yelp. However, this place doesn't live up to any of the expectations mentioned in these reviews. I ordered some jerk chicken, and to my surprise there were only chicken scraps with jerk sauce: the chicken leg was chopped up and only the top portion of the leg made it to my plate. Same with the chicken tight, the bone without any meat. See pictures. SMH. Save your $$ and stay away from this place. They choose not to serve a meal for the customer's enjoyment, but rather chose (knowing) to serve a cheap meal - full of chicken scraps and bones dressed up with jerk sauce. Me and mom have not been here for awhile. The food was very good. Reminded me of growing up and eating West Indian food in New York. I ordered the large Brown Stew chicken with rice and peas, Mac and cheese with a side of cabbage and carrots. It set me back 14.97. However I was able to feed myself, my adult daughter and grandson. So, you are given a lot of food. It's cheaper than fast food and tastes MUCH better. The customer service was awesome. Everyone was very nice. The only challenge is the parking lot. Oh Man! Oh Man! Can I hear from ya'll, yes, Oh Man! Surprised to the point of shock! Easily the best food I've had in quite a while. I got medium Jerk Chicken. My wife ordered Brown Stew Chicken but they were out of that so we went with Curry Chicken. I got a side of rice and peas, we both got a side of cabbage and carrots. I'll say that I'm not in a position to adequately rate Jerk Chicken. I have no clue as to the authenticity of what I've had and have no doubt it was Americanized. First, chicken with both orders was so extremely plump, tender and moist that I honestly don't believe I've ever had chicken with such extraordinary texture. The Jerk Chicken had a very deep, dark flavor but, while there was some spicy there, there was no blast-your-head off habenero punch (my wife could eat it with no complaint, enough said). The Curry Chicken was similar in that it was clearly touched with curry but it wasn't an overwhelming power punch. Having said all of this, both provided REALLY huge flavor. I really don' t have words to encompass it. I'm just now trying to grasp delicacy and balance in my cooking. These folks have it down to a science. Even the Cabbage and Carrots was a big surprise. If you're not a cabbage or carrot fan, go for it anyway. Like the chicken, this was not a knock your socks off cabbage thing. Very flavorful and delicate. My wife dislikes carrots but she's now added carrots to the grocery list. One thing that I didn't see in photos or reviews here is seating. There are only 2 small tables. However, the place contains a mystery for me: The building is huge and "lounge" is on an exterior sign. When facing the order counter there is a door to the left. Inside is a dark lounge with many booths. In the corner is a well lit, stocked bar. No one there! For 20 minutes! The woman who took our order didn't seem fully comfortable with English and she was busy. I'll poke my nose in from time to time. The food leads to a desire for Bahamian rum. We will be back over and over when in this part of town - or just for the food. I suggest that everyone check this out (a rare thing for me to say). read more

My first time coming to this place was a bit intimidating. It is sketchy from the previous reviews on here, but the best food come from the most intimidating place. So, do not judge a book by it's cover. The staff were friendly and the food is cheap. I would say everything is about $10 plus tax. I ordered the oxtail and it tasted really good, probably better then sweet spice. OMG Best part of my day was finding my car was where I left it after visiting this fine establishment. That just adds to the authenticity of this hidden gem. Definitely the most dynamic spot in Savannah. During the day a great family spot, comparable to Chuck E Cheeses, where you can bring the kids and let them play on the stripper pole or in the random golf cart parked by the dance floor while you watch soap operas on the TVs from 1999. Just watch out for the stains on the couches in the VIP section. At night, one of the hottest clubs in Savannah hidden on the south side away from all the competition downtown. They still haven't invested in air conditioning so I lost about 20 lbs in sweat while I was waiting for food but don't worry I packed that all back on with rice and jerk chicken. Avoid coming here at all cost! I went to this property for the YSL Gunna party and upon arriving there I presented my party ticket to get into the event and the person at the door tells me that the ticket is invalid, so I show him my email and confirmation number as well as an authenticated pass from the eventbrite website where I purchased the ticket, which had the promotional company and name of the venue there and the door man kept coming up with every excuse as to why it was fake. So I attempt to leave the property and as I do so multiple staff are trying to grab me for no apparent reason so a run the the road about 50 yards from the venue and towards a police car. One of the staff grabs my shirt and rips it and scratches my neck all in front of the police officer. Once I reach the police officer's car window the men stopped assaulting me and tell the police officer that I was stealing a wrist band, which was not the case because I didn't steal it when the door man put it on my wrist in the 1st place. This behavior was completely unnecessary and the staff at this property needs to have better conflict resolution training. Their behavior shows that they are more dangerous than criminals. Also the security was subpar inside the club, the security did not do a pat down before entering the premises and if I could upload videos on this app I would upload videos that my friend who got into the party took of multiple fights that escalated inside the property. Definitely don't come to this place the staff and the crowd they let into this venue are dangerous and I would not be surprised if one of these days a stabbing or a shooting happens at one of their events in the near future read more

OK, this is the best Jamaican food you will get in Savannah. Ox tails, curry goat, jerk chicken and other Jamaican type dishes. Flavor is pleasing to the palate and comforting to the senses. The portions are great. I suggest you get your food to go, to enjoy it at home. The area is somewhat not my type of environment, but tolerable. I frequent this place many times. I just visited them Saturday and the food did not disappoint me. The lady waiting on me laughed so hard because I asked her was it real jerk chicken or baked chicken with Grace Foods jerk sauce in a jar spread on top. She said i would like it and she's right.
