So after a few days in Savannah, we wanted to grab some island food. After some research, I decided on this spot. It was a simple environment and a walk up counter to order. Our order was quickly taken and we grabbed a seat. The food was brought out quickly. My stepmom has the oxtail and I got the oxtail/curry goat combo. The food was a taste of home and we definitely enjoyed it. I felt like the oxtail could have used a bit more seasoning, but my stepmom said it was just right. To each their own. We visited Jamaica Taste on a business trip to Savannah Ga. We wanted an authentic taste from Jamaica. A taste that is not readily found. We ordered brown stew snapper with rice and peas, and curry goat, and jerk chicken with rice and peas. The fish was done to order not cooked before hand. The owner/chef Andre did an excellent job. The fish was perfect. The taste, and presentation was splendid. The settings gave us an island vibes with reggae music jamming in the background. We were in Jamaica in Savannah. I was visiting Savannah for a work trip and wanted to try Jamaican cuisine near the area. I chose Jamaica Taste since it had dine-in seating, and it already received some positive reviews online. We were greeted when we walked in, and the man who serviced us was very nice. I ordered the curry goat (which I was told all of their meat is shipped directly from Jamaica) along with all the sides and it was delicious! Even the extra sauce on the rice was a nice touch. The Rasta pasta was just ok because the jerk chicken breast needed more sauce. I also tried the mac & cheese, beef patty, and tropical juices which were all 5/5. The restaurant itself does need some upgrades, like maybe air conditioning or repair the ceilings, but the overall experience was great. read more

I got jerk chicken and beef stew from this spot, with Mac and cheese and rice and peas. The wait was pretty short maybe 6-7 minutes and the worker was very kind and friendly. It's small, not dirty, not clean, outside is nothing noteworthy, BUT food is very filling and tasty. Price is average. Beef stew was incredible, the meat is so tender and the sauce is perfect, though there are some pieces that are just fat. Rice and peas was awesome, the chicken was the best, not dry, not soggy, not too spicy, not too sweet, perfectly flavored. It was a good portion too for everything. I payed $24 for my meal after a $4 tip but for what I got most people could have easily made 2 meals out of it. Overall my only complaints were that the mac and cheese was room temperature and the beef stew had some chunks that were all fat as mentioned. Definitely will satisfy you. read more

I ordered the Rasta pasta at my job when he came in his food truck and I told him that his pasta was bland and he told me he doesn't do bland so I let other people try it and they also said it was bland then when I proceeded to approach him about it he tells me we don't do bland. The exterior is not very pleasing to the eyes, but it was highly recommended by several individuals when I inquired about a great spot for Jamaican Food. Daily and lunch specials are handwritten on a piece of cardboard taped to a window. An additional sign states that the establishment is "take out only". When entering the restaurant, it is a surprisingly large area with two booths present on the left side of the building. The kitchen (which is not visible) is located on the right side of the building. Ordering takes place at the back of the establishment. There were numerous Jamaican staples available such as curry and jerk chicken, oxtails black beans and rice etc... I ordered a "large" combo that came with your choice of meat, rice, and two additional side items. Total time from ordering to completion was approximately 15 minutes. The rice and peas were mushy the Mac n cheese again mushy, the cabbage was decent but my favorite part of the meal "THE OXTAILS" .....NOT FLAVORFUL, it's like they didn't brown it and instead of having that dark brown consistency, this was like a light brown fatty sauce. I was looking for a Caribbean spot for AUTHENTIC and yummy food (the other spot I used to frequent wasn't doing It for me) and I came across Jamaican soul. There is seating, though I take mine to go and you can call ahead and place your order. I have ordered the oxtails, curry chicken and jerk chicken on separate occasions and every entree was delicious. I love that I found this place; being from a caribbean family, it's hard to find restaurants that cook our food the right way. This is a really small take out place that I started to notice when everyday driving to work. Jamaican Soul doesn't have a big menu, but food is pretty standard. The menu combines Jamaican main dishes mixed with southern side orders, such as collard green, tomato okra or cabbage. So far, I've tried jerk chicken and beef short ribs. Both are tasty. For the rice choices, there are white rice and rice with peas and red beans. I usually have rice with red beans and peas because that is something I don't know how to cook. Lunch special usually a good size to fill up my stomach for the rest of the day(yes, I mean, breakfast +lunch +dinner), but please be aware lunch only serves until 2pm with a free can soda. And I always get Fanta, they do have variety of Fanta selections. You can call ahead for the order if you are in rush. I visited this establishment yesterday and ordered the jerk wings meal. When I got home and began to eat, the wings were overcooked and hard. The cabbage and the mac-n-cheese was fine, so I at the cabbage. Since I was going to be in that area again today, I decided to being them back when I came. I called today to let them know I was coming back with overcooked wings to have them re-made, the gentleman on the phone told me they don't do overcooked or hard wings. When I arrived, I showed him the wings and he again began telling me they don't overcooked wings. I told him they did yesterday. Then he started talking about how that was a whole day ago and I didn't call yesterday. He went on to say how does he even know I got them from there. I told him to look at the plate, the bag, the layout of the food based on how they plate food and you can see it came from there. I never asked for a refund or a full plate, but only for the wings to be re-made. Instead he continued to tell me that was a day ago and he don't know if it came from them. So I said don't worry about it, I took a picture of the QR code to leave a review and I walked out. A few minutes later, he calls me and instead of apologizing for my experience, he asked me where was the rest of the food. I told him I at the cabbage, they weren't overcooked, the wings were. Mind you, a few minutes prior he was said he didn't know if the plate came from there. He then proceeds to tell me he's going to take a picture of the plate I left behind and post it as a reply to my bad review. Well you go right ahead because that has absolutely nothing to do with overcooked food!! All of the excuses given and reasons why you didn't want to remake them was piss poor customer service. Hands down the best Jamaican food in the area! I've been here two times and will be back plenty more. The jerk chicken here is to die for! It's just like back home. So delicious, full of flavor, and so tender! The rice and peas compliment it, as well as the mac and cheese. My only gripe about Jamaican Soul, is that they don't offer many vegetable options. They offer collard greens, which I'm not a fan of, but I wish they had cabbage, a side salad, or callaloo in place of the collard greens. Other than that, I have no complaints.
