I'm usually not the person who picks up the order so I haven't been here in a while... Went for a pick up on a busy early Saturday and it's still the same friendly and clean pizza joint. Sweet Tomatoes is my favorite pizza! I wish they had a location closer to me, but I will drive for quality. The young lady helping me was so kind to help me carry my order to the car! Amazing service!!! And of course the pizza tasted wonderful! Same with the Cesar salad, always fresh and they used shaved Parmesan which tastes great! Tip: when making the salad, take the cheese and lemon out first. Then pour the dressing and croutons in and shake it. Then add the cheese and lemon after, this way you get even amount of cheese or else it ends up in a glob on the bottom. The cheese rich and the sauce sweet, but not too sweet. The only thing I could've used more of were the hunks of delicious tomato. They offer a puréed version of sauce, because, well, kids. I ordered a large cheese, large pepperoni, and 2 Cesar salads (for 6 people) to watch the Pats game on Sunday. Totally hit the spot. Quick service for sure. They said pickup in 20 minutes, we had it in front of us while the Pats went up 3 zip at the start of the game. Win win. The pizzas were huge and delicious. I love the chunks of tomato on top -- the beauty of their sauce for sure. The pie itself is huge. The slices are cut small and in general the dough is pretty thin but don't let that fool you. Even with 6 of us, we had leftover pizza! Filling and delicious. Will 100% be ordering pizzas from here again! The salad could've been a little better but it still did the job! Picture lettuce and large slices of cheese with a cup of croutons on the side and a cup of dressing on the side. It literally was a container of lettuce leaves. Nothing else. Providing an update following the first adventure into Sweet Tomatoes sandwiches. Unfortunately they were out of turkey when I placed my order, so they replaced my turkey and brie with roast chicken. Not ideal, but the sandwich was super delicious and still warm when I got home. My sister tried the di Napoli sandwich and "delicious." We both agreed the bread is really good, there is a good filling/bread ratio, and the ingredients are top notch. I'd love to try some of their other food as well! First review: Somehow my initial review got deleted with all my opinions on the pizza. Here is my attempt to reconstruct. I've gotten pizza here a few times now, delivery has been quick and easy. I got the veggie garden with added veggies, and the classic cheese. I think this is the type of pizza where the plain, classic choice is the best. I also really enjoyed when I just added basil. The sauce is nice and chunky and the cheese is really delicious without being too stringy (not a fan of really stringy or thick cheese). The crust is very thin. When re-heating you can see there is quite a bit of oil. It didn't bother me when it arrived still-warm, but I dabbed some off when I re-heated. The veggies on the veggie garden are super delicious and fresh. I definitely recommend, but I think it's really at its best fresh from the oven, not as good re-heated. read more

This is a chain pizza place in the Boston area this location has street parking available or you can park in the lot cross the street near a CPS pick up. The store is very clean and people are friendly. The products were they lost stars for me. I ordered a spinach salad which was basic ingredients. The veggie pesto pizza in gluten free was not the best flavors in the crust was extremely hard where if your not careful you could chip a tooth. The surprise is the cost. It's very pricey for food that isn't the greatest and comes in small amounts or portions. I look forward to trying some of the other options for pizza of places in the area. Happy eating! read more

Skimps on cheese and the toppings. For $2 per topping, you get very little topping. I've been going to Sweet Tomatoes -- in Newton Centre and West Newton -- for years. It has been a sentimental favorite for my daughters, now grown, and me. But I've been disappointed in the past year or so. Going to eat there more often and hoping it has regained its quality does not make it better. I curated a delectable pie, starting with the best thin Neapolitan crust in town. The meats are particularly good here; I'm no vegan. I doubled the three primary pig meats (bacon, ham, and fennel sausage) and added onion, along with extra sauce. Heaps of basil, too. Demanded a tip for a pickup order... We have been loyal patrons of Sweet Tomatoes for 12 years. While we have always enjoyed the pizza, we were recently deeply disappointed. We made a takeout order, and within minutes someone called us demanding a tip. We were shocked. While it was true it was a substantial order (6 pizzas), we couldn't believe they were trying to demand a tip before we had even picked up our order. Both my wife and I grew up in restaurants, and it has never been the practice in any of the places we worked to demand a tip for a pickup order. When I confronted the staff member who made the call, she tried to make it seem like it was standard practice. Very sad. It is highly unlikely we will return. Update. Called the manager the following day who acknowledged that they should not have asked for a tip for a pickup order. Nice to hear--though it still hits me that the original staff person was very clear that asking for a tip on a pickup order was the norm. Changing my review from a 1 Star to a 2 Star. read more

Really, really bad pizza. I ordered a veggie pizza with no cheese, and they said it would be 10 minutes. The pizza took 20 minutes. Upon arriving home, I saw that they had put an insane amount of veggies on my pizza, to the point where the pizza was insanely soggy and the veggies weren't even cooked. Nobody wants cold broccoli on their pizza. I ate the pizza because I had no choice. There didn't seem to be any herbs or seasoning on the pizza, which is so important for a no-cheese pizza. I had to add black pepper myself. To make matters worse, they didn't cut the pizza properly and all of the slices were still connected in the middle. When I called to tell them about my experience, they said "some people like a lot of veggies" even though the pizza gets soggy and offered me a credit for another pizza. How about a refund? My go to place for pizza as Sweet Tomatoes is conveniently located on my way home from work and I do think they are slightly better than many other pizza delivery/take out places around Newton/Waltham area. But note that their pizzas have really thin crust - stay away if you prefer thicker ones. You can customize your own pie or pick one from the "Special" (then add on a couple more topping from there!!). Medium pizza runs about 15-20$ and large ones are around 20-25$. A bit pricer but I think it's worth it! My favorite is one of the specials - Pesto splash - which comes with Pesto Sauce (I think it's homemade and it's delicious), diced tomatoes, garlic, and mozzarella. It gets even better when you add sausage on top! I've also tried the Luxe potato one, which is a white pizza with slices of Yukon potatoes, truffle oil and fontina cheese - very unconventionally but actually pretty tasty! Seems that some people are complaining about customer service, but I've never had issues with anything so far. read more

My favorite pizza place for sure!! If you don't know what to get, even a basic pepperoni pizza from here is really tasty! There's plenty of metered parking in the area, as busy as the area gets sometimes, there's always a spot nearby. I love how thin their pizza are, the crust is ALWAYS crunchy. These are the kinds of pizza that taste REALLY good when you take a bite FRESH and just as good when reheated. These slices are also pretty good sized!
