This is going to be an unnecessary long post. My first visit was on 12/30/25. I was looking for a dentist near me and planned on taking my girls so they can see that going to the dentist isn't scary! After booking my appointment, I then went on Yelp to look at the reviews and thought "crap! They have several bad reviews". But I already set my appointment so there was no going back. Technically there was, but with my schedule, there wasn't time. So the day of, the girls ended up taking a nap right before my appointment so they ended up staying home. Fail moment! Checking in was a breeze! Jordan answered all my "dumb questions" without any judgement and made me feel like there wasn't any dumb questions. Which we all know there are, but I'm glad she made me feel valid! The gal walked me to the back and listened to my long story of the last time I was at the dentist was 10 years ago and it was the most horrible experience ever and how now I'm just always anxious! Which was nice that my kids didn't have to see me pretend to put in a brave face. She made me feel heard the whole time and would stop to ask if there was anything she can do to make me feel less anxious. After all of the X-Rays and cleaning the Dr came in and went over them. Im not going to lie, he's a little awkward but he's trying. Anyways, I think the one feedback I can give them is to explain that procedures will be another day. The whole time he was talking I thought we were going to get it done that day. Anyways, I left feeling great! Sucks that I have to go back for fillings and a crown. So today 01/19/26 I went in for my fillings! Dr. Is still awkward but I can live with that! Y'all! Let me tell you! He has gentle hands! He started off with numbing my teeth! I'm still anxious AF, I don't think I ever won't be from past experience, but it was painless! My pain tolerance is low! (Side note: I got the epidural at 3 cm, so you know my tolerance is low). When he said he was going to add more, I was delighted because I didn't want to feel any cuts if there was going to be any or any drilling. If I needed him to stop he would stop, he took his time and didn't rush. I almost took a nap during the process, thankfully I didn't! I left with no cuts, feeling a less anxious, sucks that I still have more procedures coming up, but this is what happens when you don't go to the dentist often. Anyways, I can live with awkwardness as long as my teeth are taken care of gently! I'll keep updating since I have to go back for the other side and get a crown! to see if I still feel the same way as my two experiences. read more

Absolutely love this place. They were so patient and kind with my kids. They were also very kind with me I'm eight months pregnant so they made sure I was comfortable and sitting down and kept offering water. They also discovered that my one year-old has lip tie which I had no idea what that was, and they explained it to me in such great detail. This is a follow up to the review I posted on 5/15/2025 regarding Sweet Tooth Family Dentistry. On 5/20/2025 I received a response from Sweet Tooth Family Dentistry. But it took writing a YELP review to finally receive one. I've attached the response below. As you can see, I was told that I would be contacted within two weeks regarding my experience with Dr. Mahek along with an acknowledgement of the letter I sent her, which she received on 4/4/2025. It was a ten page letter documenting every horror she visited on my life either directly or indirectly over a two-year period of time. And since she has yet to acknowledge anything she has done to me, let alone offer financial restitution, the saga continues. It's been 25 days since her response, well over three weeks, and I've heard crickets, as expected. Her office's response to my YELP review was obviously only for short term appeasement, for show. Dr. Mahek has taken too much from me in terms of quality of life, in addition to tens of thousands of dollars I didn't have, for me to just swallow this. Yet I have no doubt that she expects me to do just that. I brought my son here to get two fillings done. During the first visit, while the assistant was taking x-rays, I informed her that my son is autistic. On the second visit, he was scheduled to have two fillings. I was a little nervous because he usually requires general anesthesia for dental procedures, but this time they said they'd be using laughing gas. I wasn't sure how he would respond, considering his sensory issues, and unfortunately, things didn't go well. Because of his autism, he had trouble staying still and keeping his hands to himself. I could sense the dentist and assistant were becoming frustrated with him. That night, while helping him floss, I noticed something concerning. The tooth next to the one they filled had clearly been drilled, but it hadn't been filled at all. A few days later, the tooth that was filled began to turn gray. We returned the following week. The dentist blamed my son's movement for why the second tooth wasn't filled. I understand if both teeth were filled but they forgot to fill one and instead of apologizing for their mistake, she had the audacity to blame it on my son for moving! Then, using the sickle probe, she poked directly into the unfilled hole. Of course he moved--it must have been painful or at least very sensitive, since it was an open cavity. She repeated herself as if trying to show me that it's your sons fault for moving too much and told him, "Bud, I need you to stay still," as if he could control that kind of pain, especially when he can't fully express it. I also asked about the discolored filling. The dentist didn't even bother to look at which tooth I was pointing at and automatically denied that she had filled that tooth. I reminded her she had. She seemed irritated and finally took a closer look. She said the discoloration of the filling was probably due to a leak and then again blamed my son from moving too much. It felt as though our presence was an inconvenience to her, and instead of addressing the issue constructively, she seemed more frustrated that we brought it up. Based on our recent visits I don't believe this dental practice is prepared to accommodate the specific needs of autistic children. As a parent of an autistic child, I would advise others in similar situations to consider alternative options. read more

I chipped my tooth when eating something in mid-November. I searched online and found this dental office. I visited there November 20th and did the X-Rays. The dentist told me that I would need a crown, I asked about the cost and the timeline, he said good question, the front desk staff would give you more information. So the front desk gave me an estimate amount of $650+, said this would be the total payment. And immediately asked me to which payment method. She said they collect payment upfront, otherwise I would not be able to schedule an appointment. That was my first visit and I did not know that they collect payment upfront, and that credit card will have a 3% processing fee. The front desk said she could waive the processing fee since that was my first time visit. Okay fine, then after the payment, she told me that the next available appointment will be Dec. 30th. It was ridiculous. After you collected the full payment upfront, you told the customer that the next available appointment will be 40 days later???? Earlier this week (early December) I called and asked if they have sooner availability, they were able to move me to Wednesday (Dec. 10th). I thought it was good, I could get the thing done sooner. Then today, Dec. 9th, just hours before the appointment, they called me and said, after talking to my insurance, there's some difference in the amount, so I'll owe them $100+, they are calling to let me know that tomorrow they'll collect the $100+ payment. I don't recommend this dentist for the following reasons: Firstly, it's expensive. A crown for $800+ after insurance??!! Secondly, the waiting time is insane. If you don't have recent availability, if your patient needs to wait for 40+ days for an appointment, you should not take new patients. You should let the new patient know before you asked them to come in and do the X-Rays. So the patients are informed and could have chosen other dental offices that have more availability. Thirdly, the policy is to collecting the full payment upfront? And then 30 seconds after the payment went through, you said the nearest availability is 40+ days away? Why didn't you tell the patient before you asked them to pay the full amount? Lastly, you should talk to the insurance before calculating the estimate. What's the point of the estimate if it's not even close to accurate?? Also, even if it takes time to communicate with the insurance, shouldn't you prioritize the communication and let the patient know as soon as you hear back from the insurance? I made the full payment, I waited 20 days for the appointment, and you told me the last minute that there'll be $100+ extra charges??? If you told me upfront that it would cost $800+ for a crown, I could have chosen other dental office. Again, this dental office is very incompetent and lack of customer care. Anyone who's considering choosing this dentist should be aware of this. read more

Today was my first time visit at Sweet Tooth Family Dentistry and I will be a returning. I went in for a general check up and cleaning. The gals working the front were friendly and I was checked in promptly. They do require payment to proceed with the appointment, so be prepared for that. There is coffee and water available in the waiting room. My hygienist was Tori. She was professional and kind. She explained everything she was doing. I really appreciated that. She cleaned my teeth very well and I had minimal discomfort, considering I did have a lot of plaque built up and my teeth are sensitive. She got so much of the plaque off and my teeth feel nice and super clean. Doctor Nish, came in to examine my teeth and images and was happy to answer any questions that I had. Nice doctor. The place of business is super clean and nice vibes. Not to mention their technology is like so high tech. I highly recommend if you are looking for a professional place to take care of your teeth. read more

We tried this office for the first time recently. We won't make it our family dentist. While the dentist seemed competent, the administrative staff was unhelpful and the atmosphere was not one conducive to privacy. I overheard a lady show up on time for her appointment, and the front desk person told her "sorry, your appointment was canceled because you didn't confirm it". The lady said she didn't receive anything to confirm. They realized the office had the phone number one digit off, and they still did not let her be seen. They said, sorry there was nothing available anymore and it wasn't even the lady's fault. I overheard someone be surprised at the amount they had to pay after being seen and he was asked for the payment right away. There is no privacy. During the cleaning, we could overhear all of the health information for the patient in the stall next to us. Lots of staff, but many seem to be very new in the field. It's a cute, clean office, but the operations are lacking. read more

This office is the best dental office in Clovis. The office receptionist, Mariah is very friendly and professional. They accommodate to your needs. The wait times are kept to a minimum and your overall experience will be pleased. If you go to any other office you will wait an hour plus just to be seen. I then found another dentist who was able to do the work for me as I did not feel comfortable returning after the previous experience. Filling failed lead my 6 year old to a swollen cheek the Dr. Seen him at 10am and we still have no prescription written to the pharmacy it's after 5pm. The pediatric dentists recommend a root canal for everything. They do not listen to parents. Be your child's advocate and look harder if you don't have private insurance. Then made an appointment to have work done on one my child's teeth, I had to have my other child with me because my wife works. They got upset that I had my other child with me. My child had an emergency situation . We called and a lady scheduled us for a same day visit. I drove from the mountains down to Clovis and arrived on time. The office was closed and I sat on hold for 30 minutes after the fact while they tried to figure out why no one was there. Then proceeded to tell me they were closed. I do not recommend this place. My toddler needed emergency work done and nothing was done for her. 1st of all she needed a crown I was willing to pay cash for a white crown rather than the silver and they didn't have it. 2nd they suggested temporary work on her tooth meanwhile but weren't able to do anything for her since they only offer the gas mask my child still felt everything and didn't allow them to work on her teeth, but no other options was available. As a pediatric dentistry I would have more option such as anesthesia or strapped chairs so the work can get done. I don't recommend this place for anyone with children under 5. To top it off the lady who took the X-ray photos of my child was really mean. Look for another Pediatric dentistry who is a little more gentle on your little one, don't ruin their dental experience coming here! read more

I had an extremely painful nerve issue in one of my molars. I booked with Sweet Tooth Family Dentistry, unfortunately, and they stated that they provided a bill, after running my insurance, of the covered services. They said I would need to wait a week to be seen, but then called me to tell me they had a spot open. I was in so much pain, that I told them okay. When I sat down in the chair for the procedure, they brought me a new bill that was roughly $1,000 higher than the initial bill I'd received just days ago. I walked out. They then, months later, sent another bill to cover the initial visit I'd had with them - so they say. Then, they provided an update stating I actually did not need to provide them any payment. THEN, they get back months later, stating I now owe them the initial payment and a late fee. The company sent the $40 bill to collections and I called them to see what was going on. After speaking with billing, I was told I would hear back regarding the issue. I followed up via email and never heard back from them and clarified that failure to respond to the email meant they agreed the issue had been resolved. Then I continued getting calls beginning in mid-July regarding the collection again, although they had ceased after speaking with Ashley. I dont know what is going on with this place. They also stated incorrect information about what my health insurance told them and I have records to that effect. Don't trust them. read more

I have been with Dr. Sweet and Sweet Tooth Dentistry from childhood. One thing I can say is that the quality of care from both has been great. Any concerns or previous medical information has always been taken into careful consideration before dental examinations and if discomfort is experienced, all their hygienists have been understanding. It has been a difficult transition from Dr. Sweet to Sweet Tooth dentistry's new staff, but overall I am learning to trust as well as I did with my tooth care during my childhood. read more

It was disappointing to see the lack of trust in loyal patients. My relative had a swollen front mouth and we had no idea why. So we called them and they wanted $100 up front to see them. Find another dentist. My wife, child and I have used them since early January. I've had multiple appointments in the last month. Today, I showed up for my $400+ prepaid appointment and was advised it was cancelled without my notice. The receptionist told me that I did not give a 48 hour notice and they had to cancel my appointment. This is the first appointment out of 6 that this policy applied. Without any sort of warning. I also prepaid for a $600+ visit the next day which they too cancelled as I was entering the business, leaving me a voicemail. I need major dental work, immediately, and their lack of competence is costing extra time and money. I have two infants at home and require a baby sitter for my time away. I advised the receptionist, very calmly, that they need to get their sh!t together and was kicked out of the office. I am $1100 out with a loose front tooth still. I received multiple emails, texts, calls confirming these appointments in the days leading up and not one notice that my appointment was cancelled. Crazy to think they can call/text/email you several times to notify you of your appointment but cannot communicate with you that your appointment has been cancelled. My appointment was delayed and i even had to contact my insurance myself to figure out what was going on. My insurance finally told me what was actually happening. I don't understand how this place could cause such a miscommunication issue. I am glad I rescheduled and then canceled the appointment. Completely wasted my time. read more
