I have a relative that needs to watch her sugar intake and they have excellent no sugar added brownies, cookies and macadamia nut chocolates. For myself, I love everything here but my favorites are the dark and milk chocolate dipped shortbread cookies and macadamia nut chocolates. These are fantastic gifts to buy if visiting the islands. i buy treats from here to bring as gifts when visiting folks outside of Hawaii and often buy them for myself to eat!

Just so happened I had an appointment in town and would be in the area! I was stoked that not only was I able to score some delicious mochi but it was on special 3 for $20 for early birds 10:30-11:30 (I literally just made it in time). I was able to chose any 3 $8 items for just $20 (what a deal). I chose the original butter mochi bites, ube butter mochi, and coffee butter mochi. I also bought a cookie butter white chocolate butter mochi for $10, which was a special flavor. I even got a free calandar! My favorite was the coffee butter mochi. It really tasted like a delicious cup of coffee. I didn't care for the bites as they were a little dense and dry imo. The ube was okay but didn't really have the ube flavor I love. I also really enjoyed the cookie butter flavor, because who doesn't like cookie butter, lol. Overall I look forward to continuing to support this small local business and try some other flavors. I was told that they would be doing a pop up at Mililani High school in March, so I'm looking forward to that.

They also expanded to Samurai Snacks Aiea for an impressive 20+ years before closing its doors in May 2023. We arrived shortly after lunch time where we pondered at the menu wondering what to get. It's not fancy here at Samurai - - the storefront is basic and nothing fancy with a few seats patrons can sit on if they decide to eat their treats on premise. Morale has been low at the office so I decided to get some convenient prepackaged 4oz assorted Samurai cups to cheer up the staff. My colleagues also picked up some bags of buttered popcorn with mochi crunch and furikake for an informal office party to welcome the much needed weekend. Because we were already there, we also got some soft serve cups to cool down before heading back to the office. My colleagues had the classic strawberry and blue vanilla swirl and I selected the mango. My colleagues enjoyed their selection but the mango didn't live up to my expectations. The color was vibrant and enticing but sadly the mango flavor did not come through. Each cup came with a sugar roll cookie that was delicious. After our cold treat we headed back to the office with our surprise for our colleagues where it was a big hit. There were many happy faces standing in line grabbing some popcorn and a 4-oz cup of Samurai. Overall, a much better experience with Samurai that's deserving of an update with higher marks. It has been noted in my books to stick to flavors I'm already aware of and avoid trying new ones for that possible disappointment that often happens to me.

OMG, I tried one of their samples at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center community holiday sale at the end…read moreof last month and had to make a stop at their factory in Aiea to pick up some bags! Their puff rice snack is absolutely delicious... so light and crunchy and just the right amount of sweetness. I'm so glad I got the information from the young lady at the booth. I tried the one with the macadamia nuts while I was at the center and loved it, so that's what I mostly purchased, but I also got a bag of the one with the ginger. These are packaged so nicely that I'm going to include them in the Christmas gift bags I give out for the holidays to some well deserving friends. Each bag was only $8 at their factory (was $8.50 at the center). I've seen them for sale at Don Quixote for $10.50 a bag, so I feel like I got a bargain. On top of that, they gave me a great little reuseable shopping bag in which to carry my purchase. At the factory, you can see them making batches of these wonderful treats. They were kind enough to let me take pictures of them at work. The yummy smells floated through the air. Along with the bags I purchased, the young lady threw in a bunch of different flavor sample packages, too. Maybe this will help me decide which flavors of these amazing semi-sweet snacks I'll purchase next time! Yummy!!

It's a cute store to stop by if you're ever at Kahala Mall.
