The lihing and lemon peel gummies here are seriously addicting - the perfect mix of sweet, salty, and tangy that keeps you reaching for more. The 3D gummies are my favorite pick; they've got that ideal chewy-but-soft texture that hits just right. The hurricane popcorn is solid too! The butter flavor and furikake combo are tasty, though I wish the mochi crunch had a bit more crunch. Also, the kernels they use here a pretty small. Still, it's a snack-worthy spot when you're craving those classic local flavors. I still prefer the popcorn at Iniki more because of the size, kernels and flavor. read more

Today I was really craving popcorn and candy. They have the best hurricane popcorn! Their kakimochi is heart shaped and it is so cute. They put the perfect amount of ingredients inside and the flavor is spot on. Good portions sizes and very reasonably priced. We also picked up a bunch of pre packed sour gummies, jelly beans, and chocolates. I love that it's already packed in individual resealable bags. They have a ton of selection and almost everything you could want. Staff is very friendly and the store is very clean. Shopping at Kahala Mall in Honolulu, Hawaii... I've passed by this kiosk so many times... Not knowing that it's an extension of the store Carousel Candyland - right in front of it! I just kept admiring all of the cute things in the windows... This time, I stopped and got an angel charm for my friend - her brother just passed away and I want to put the angel in the envelope that I give to her. Then, I saw a bunny charm... And lucky bracelets... And useful luggage tags... And Asian Precious Moments dolls... And good luck amulets... And... Gosh... I'd better get outta here before I buy the whole store! Carousel Candyland has turned into one of my go-to stops whenever I'm in the area. I love popcorn, especially hurricane popcorn, so the fact that they pop theirs fresh with the option to add toppings is awesome. You can even smell their popcorn as soon as you step into the mall. I initially wanted to try their hurricane popcorn, but my mom and I were in the mood for butter (probably due to the fact that it smelled like buttered popcorn inside the shop). Our bag of popcorn was still warm when we got it and it had a generous amount of butter. I really liked that it didn't taste too salty. They have a good amount of candy selection and prices are pretty reasonable. We ended up getting a lot more candy than what we planned, but there's no such thing as too much. When I come to Kahala Mall for whatever, I stop by Carousel Candyland. They make the best Furikake (Hurricane) popcorn and usually add extra scoop of Furikake and Mochi Crunch. I buy one for my family, best friend, and myself. I pick up pizza gummies for my granddaughter as a incentive to help around the apartment and don't wait for anyone to tell her. I'm in heaven when the popcorn is freshly popped, buttered flavor, Mochi Crunch for the crunch factor, and that nori Furikake flavor...bussen!!! Instead of bussen, we say broke da mouth! I came here for jelly beans and left with more than that. Hurricane popcorn was fresh and delicious. We picked gummy eyeballs (Halloween inspired) and sour belts too. My only dislike was when I asked for a plastic bag and scooper for the jelly beans, the employee handed the scooper to me by holding the scooper part with his bare hand so that I could grab the handle. I rarely use Yelp to rant unless it's absolutely necessary for the business to understand the full impact of their actions. Been a lifelong customer for well over 35 years, no idea if the business has ever changed owners in this period, don't really care, seems like it's the same family running the shop since inception. In all this time I've become conditioned to inhaling their Furikake popcorn the minute I step within 100 yards of their shop. The smell would intensify until I'm in front of the shop at which point I'd be compelled to buy a bag whether I was hungry or not. I'd dare anyone who told me they were visiting Hawaii to walk past this shop and then debate with me on this smell not being the best advertising for any product on the planet ever. I've never lost a dare until now. I had been off-island for a bit, stopped by the mall 3 days in a row, each time I walked past Carousel Candyland I could not smell a thing. At first I figured maybe I got there too early and they just hadn't started up their popcorn machine. But then I stopped by at 1pm today, walked straight up to the counter and purchased a bag and even right there in the store I could barely smell anything, just a faint hint of popcorn. I don't know what changed, perhaps they replaced the air vent in the shop, maybe they changed the way they pop their corn. Whatever changed, please fix it, if this means turning off the air vents, please do that, bring smell-o-vision back to your business. Make Carousel Candyland Great Again!!! 7-11-2021 what is love? In this instance, having someone special to you share their customized bag of popcorn with you, not once but two or perhaps three times is love. I have always loved seeing and remembering how our first grandchild shared her piñata goodies with others when she was just a toddler. When little ones share their treats with innocent kindness, it is touching. When they grow up and share as an adult it comes from the heart. Having them share even the tiny precious package of what looked like coveted chocolate gummy bears more like a rice krispy morsel covered by chocolate to top the popcorn is luxury. Twice so far when our daughter has come home for a visit, driving out to Kahala Mall to go to Candyland Carousel is on her to do list. We have gone along for the ride. The familiar furikake type popcorn also uses kinako in their mixture. It's a great snack during binge watching Netflix ie, Queen's Gambit. It's not greasy or messy. To me it has a very subtly mild sweet taste. Salty? It depends on who is eating it. We enjoyed getting to taste several times from this large bag of tasty popcorn. According to a dietician's list I saw that 3 cups of popcorn is a healthy snack. Yay for popcorn. I've recently read during the past pandemic year of Yelp Elites picking up or sharing meals with their parents. Sharing food with those you care about shows love. Such an awesome gesture. Spending time and thinking of parents while they are still around is truly selfless and genuinely thoughtful. That is unconditional love. read more

Aaaahh sugar rush!! Carousel Candyland in Kahala Mall is the end of the sweet rainbow. Loaded with every kind of sugar including Icee you can have that sweet tooth shuddering with joy. My go to is always the popcorn, the scent just entice you as you walk the mall and is so hard to resist. It comes in three sizes and from plain, butter to assorted flavors including local flavors of hurricane, lihing and wasabi lol! They are incredibly serious with the social distancing so be sure to enter from the left it's clearly stated though as some may just wander in (understandably sugar coma) staff will not be shy to advise your correction and a speaker to make sure you don't forget to sanitize as you enter which is all for safety and I just respect their system. It just gets all my senses excited!!! Am I getting your senses dancing around, too? If I am, you need to go and pick up a bag. As you walk into the shop, head straight to the back. There you will see a huge popcorn machine popping kernels away. My eyes are easily drawn to the little pillowy, buttery and fluffy clouds of popcorn that twirls and somersaults around the case. Let me tell you, the aroma just sucks you in! Behind the machine, there is a menu posted on the wall that shows the different sizes and different add ins that you can order with your popcorn. Depending on the size and add ins, the prices will vary. I usually like to order the medium sized buttered popcorn with the local favorites: furikaki and mochi crunch. Yum. Besides popcorn, CC is known for candies and goodies. So many different types of candies beyond your wildest dreams! Definitely, a child's dream come true! CC must have hundreds of candy varieties. Some of the candies are already packaged or boxed and ready to grab and go. However, there are candy in bins that are sold by the pound. You can pick and chose by scooping it out on your own using the tongs or scoopers that are provided. Plastic baggies and twist ties are available for your convenience, too. I remember routinely coming to Carousel Candyland since the early 90's as my penchant for chocolate and freshly popped popcorn would lead me here. I'd always find my favorite chocolate or mint covered malt balls here. Sometimes I'd buy their Jelly Belly jelly beans, particularly the tropical flavors and combine them with either the chocolate pudding or French vanilla flavored jelly beans. At least I would be able to satisfy my cravings for sweets and still keep a lower calorie intake. The candies are sold by weight and you can self-serve from the containers into plastic bags. The candy prices are color coded so it's strongly recommended that you do NOT mix candies from different price codes in one bag. After selecting the candy or candies of your choice and scooping it into a plastic bag, take it up to the cashier where your package will be weighed and you'll be charged accordingly. In recent years, my taste buds have changed from sweet to savory so I don't come into this store as often as I have in the past. However, every time that I've patronized this store, the service is friendly and you almost feel lIke you're talking to a congenial relative. Located in Kahala Mall across from Sephora/Apple Store. This place has been around for years and I grew up always going here after school. They have a great variety of candies and started to bring in some items from other local vendors. Also, since COVID, they now individually wrap all the candies so you can't scoop your candies into a bag and create your own mix. My family and I stumbled upon this attracting Candyland wonder while browsing around Kahala Mall. The workers here are not very friendly. The popcorn is ok and there is a large selection of candy. The seasoning doesn't seem to be enough for the popcorn. Some of the prices seem high .... please remember to use the hand sanitizer when u walk in, this seems to be a pet peeve of theirs. I've been coming to this place forever and now my kids come here with me too. When I was a little kid or even now as an adult, when I first walk into this candy store, it's overwhelming with joy and diabetes. There're sooo many types of candies to choose from. There are even gross ones like scorpion or ant lollipops, meal worm snacks, etc *barf*....I love getting either the chocolate gummi bears or the sour cherry gummi cola. They sell a lot of different varieties of candies that you can't really find in the regular stores and majority of the candies are sold by the weight. In my opinion, the candies are delicious, but a bit pricey. I had like 2 little coin pouch sized bag of candies and a bag of gum and that cost me about $13. There's ample parking all over the mall area. The staff don't smile, but they do provide quick service. They're conveniently near the large water fountain display right around he corner from the theaters. So you can conveniently buy candy and sneak them right into the theaters.
