My son recommended this place so I gave it a try. Yummmy for my tummy! The cone is a battered goodness that pulls off into these bite-sized round pieces. This treat is a light and crispy outside with a soft serve ice cream. You choose your soft serve flavor, two toppings (more toppings extra charge) and your syrup. If you're looking for an ice cream treat, try it. Your sweet tooth will thank you for it. Will I return? Most certainly.
My first time trying out Double Three, and it was pretty good. The customer service was great. You check mark your choices for soft serve flavor, toppings (2 items & some toppings cost extra), syrup flavor, and bubble waffle flavor. My picks were vanilla soft serve with a reese's cup, and oreo dust as my toppings. I didn't want any syrup flavor and my bubble waffle was charcoal. The charcoal bubble waffle is a smokey vanilla flavor. Just a heads up, the cost is over $11 dollars. I think it's worth it because the size, amount of ice cream, and added bubble waffle. The soft serve was pretty good. It reminded me of Mcdonalds soft serve. The customer service made the experience good. She was kind, and patient when we took several minutes to decide which toppings we wanted. They give you a buzzer, so you can wait outside and explore the area while you wait. Would I come back? Yes, I would.
My husband and I loved this place. The girl working was so nice and very helpful considering it was our first time. There's a sheet of paper at the front that walks you through the flavor choices & toppings you. There are some flavors/ toppings that cost extra (green tea, toasted marshmallow, fresh strawberries). We both got the specialty flavors: strawberries and cream and then Kona. The strawberries and cream was okay, it wasn't the best strawberry ice cream but I loved my green tea bubble waffle, the strawberries were extremely fresh and the toasted marshmallow was everything and more that I wanted. My husbands Kona ice cream was PHENOMENAL though. It tasted like a fresh cup of coffee. He added caramel sauce and it was the perfect addition. A little pricey for an ice cream snack but it's fun and not something you get everyday. If you can, stop by here. You won't regret it.
I just have to say, I really appreciated the owner explaining the ordering process. Because I totally forgot to check their yelp before hand on how to order. My daughters and I finally got to try Double Three, and I'm disappointed in myself for not coming sooner! Lol, so we all grabbed our form to fill out. You pick your waffle, soft serve flavor, toppings and sauce. Honestly a steal for the amount you're receiving. Placed our order, and waited outside with the buzzer to let us know when to come and grab it. I was amazed he made our 3 orders all by himself! And when we grabbed our order it wasn't melting at all. Service and food definitely gets 5*! Can't wait to come back.
Double Three has been one of my go-to's since college. The owner, Yugo is super nice and always makes my experience here so great. They have order forms at the front that you fill out before paying: - choose your bubble waffle flavor (original, chocolate, matcha (+$) or charcoal +$) - choose your soft serve flavor - choose toppings - choose finishing syrup It's a HUGE bubble waffle ice cream for only $10.50 - i think it would take 2-3 of us to finish this. The bubble waffle has a nice fluffy yet crispy texture, and holds up pretty well to the ice cream. I also like that they use soft serve instead of ice cream because it's easier to eat a softer version than having to bite through ice cream. Overall it's a great place, not only for the aesthetic but also for the overall flavor and value.
I've been two Double Three at City Square Shopping Center (in Kalihi) twice and I've been extremely happy on both occasions. Double three is located in a small storefront, has no indoor seating, and is a few shops north of Kam Bakery. It should be noted that signage (and common sense) indicate that after you're done placing your order and paying, you should wait outside so others have space to order and pay as well. Now on to the good stuff, the dessert... let's get the obvious out of the way and roughly $14 for a dessert is not inexpensive. But is it worth it? In my opinion, yes it's worthwhile for a "special occasion" or "once in a while" treat. You won't find me here everyday or even every week. The bubble waffle cone comes out warm and very satisfying, the soft serve flavors are great with the texture being just right. The toppings are fresh and delicious, but not overwhelming in terms of quantity. There is a large variety of choices for toppings and cones, but soft serve choices are limited. Also be aware of the fact that you may be in for a wait as each cone takes time, but it shows in the presentation. As previously stated, this is a great special occasion or once in a while treat for both kids and adults. Check it out and I doubt you'll be disappointed.
This ice cream dessert snack was everything I hoped it would be and absolutely perfect after school. The flavors of the day were Kona coffee and birthday cake which are SHOCKINGLY exactly me and my partners favorite flavors!! So we got the flavors of the day. There's so many topping options you can create any number of combinations. You can also just get ice cream if you don't want the bubble waffle but let's be real, you came for the bubble waffle so you better get the bubble waffle!! My little concerns were that the one staff member working there kind of ignored us for a minute. She was in the back of the store doing something. We stood at the front for a minute with our written orders ready before she came to talk to us. And even then she wasn't very friendly... And then my other very minor complaint was that there was no indoor seating. It's hot out here for the summer and eating ice cream outside before it melts all over you is near impossible. Still, I would absolutely come back, I'd just adjust my expectations!! Make a plan for eating in the car or eating QUICKLY. We enjoyed our desserts very much and even managed to run the rest of our desserts home and put them in the freezer for later!
Yummy bubble waffles and soft serve! I don't care for getting the set because soggy waffles are kinda gross to me haha so I buy it separately. It's a bit more pricey to get it separately but it is what it is. What I don't care for is that my ice cream cup isn't always consistently filled. Sometimes they fill the cup, and other times it's lacking (like the pic I attached). I also saw that they're soon going to stop doing soft serve and offer scoop ice cream instead. Interested to see how that'll be like. Is it the same ice cream, just frozen and scooped? I hope so! At times, it'll take 20-30 min for my order since all the times I went there was only one worker. Not too bad, but I wouldn't mind if I get what I pay for (fill the cup with ice cream or at least be consistent about it).
Came here after having dinner across the street at Chengdu Taste with a friend and I am SO glad we did. We were lucky that they weren't busy at all so we were able to order right away. I got the matcha bubble waffle with chocolate ice cream and oreo crumbles. It was FIRE. The bubble waffle was soft and chewy, made fresh right then. The matcha flavor was subtle but there. The ice cream is more soft serve style so it was really creamy and nice to eat. The whole thing was really enjoyable. Really cool how many flavor combinations they offer! I will definitely be back to try some new things.
Yummy! These bubble waffle soft serves are huge! Could easily feed two people with one icecream. It was $10 each. The waffle is so delicious and freshly made. It's a cute little small shop and you order on a piece of paper when you walk in. You have to wait outside and wait for your over to ring when it's ready. The icecream was very filling and definitely Instagram worthy. Loved the toppings but the bubble waffles is the best part. Don't tilt your icecream or the inside will fall out!
You honestly can't go wrong with ice cream, their dessert is so cute & delicious it looks like a work of art which is probably why it does take a while to make it especially since usually only one person is making everything. It's one group allowed inside at a time the place is very small, you fill out your own custom order in the front so you get exactly what you want theirs a lot of options to choose from. Some of them cost more than the others so keep in mind it can get pricey depending on what you order. The ice cream itself is not too sweet & the bubble waffle taste very light you can just pop it off and eat it. Usually by the end it's more waffle than ice cream but it's still really good. Theirs a lot of parking in the location so you don't have to worry about being on the street, Overall great place if you want to treat yourself to something sweet.
This place was good for soft serve and bubble waffles. Starting price is $11.25 which is on the higher-end, but nevertheless it was tasty. Good overall experience, but not the best value. Worth a try if you've never been there.
You don't need a holiday to treat yourself to this unique treat that is almost too beautiful to tear apart but the genius behind these yummies has come up with something even Santa would pass the cookies for! Honestly I just couldn't pass up Double3 Christmas Special set!! - Wrapped in a Gingerbread (red and green tinted) Bubble Waffle - Loaded with Ice cream (today's special flavor was Butter Pecan YEAH!!) - Topped with Christmas cookies, Winter candies and nuts, sprinkles, fresh strawberries, whipped cream, candy cane. OMG! I loved the bubble waffle as that's the first thing I dove in to...the gingerbread flavor was absolutely there and loved the red/green color that made it so festive and all the toppings were cute but the winter candies were a bit difficult so I chucked it to the side and dealt with it later lol!! I appreciate any business that come up with such creativity that makes this Grinch-ish covid situation much more brighter and festive I was just so giddy. Lots of parking here in Kalihi so you can get your fix in a snap! Thank you!

First of all, WOW! This ice cream is huge!!! And my favorite part. The cone!!! I love that they use a waffle bubble cone. Super good!!! So when you go in, you fill out a paper and choose your flavor of ice cream, toppings and syrup. They all have a little extra you have to pay for some items but some others come with it. I got the marshmallow on pocky sticks and chocolate ice cream with Oreo crumbs. So good!!! You def can share this because it is a lot lol the price is not bad at all either. $11 something but comes with a lot. Poor girl was on her own making everyone's ice cream but she did such an amazing job. The place is very small so it's basically order and go haha which I don't mind at all. Def going back to try more flavors. read more
I got to try a classic chocolate bubble waffle with a mix of fruity pebbles and pocky sticks! It's a really good place to visit on a hot day, and the size of the cone makes it a good sharing snack with friends! Located in a strip mall where the locals shop, this is a great spot for dessert. They take a bubble waffle and use it as a cone for your ice cream. You can choose the soft serve flavor, add two toppings, and a flavor syrup. It's a large serving and would be advantageous to have a friend to share this dessert. read more

If you are looking for a great ice cream dessert or a cheat day that's worth it, Double Three is your place. We had three orders on this trip: 1) Original waffle with kona coffee ice cream (special flavor) topped with sliced almonds and a brownie. 2) Original waffle with kona coffee ice cream (special flavor) topped with oreo bits and sliced almonds. 3) Original waffle with vanilla ice cream topped with oreo bits and kit kat. Everyone was very happy with their order. The price was about $13 each depending on how many toppings and which toppings you get. The waffle was tasty and cooked well. The outside had a crisp to it and the inside was soft like the corner of a brownie. The ice cream was creamy and toppings were a great addition. It was an indulgence of yumminess! read more

If you've never tried a bubble waffle you need to expand your dessert horizon and get this ASAP. Double three in Kalihi shares the same lot as Chuck E. Cheese, with lots of free parking. The store is takeout only for now. You fill out a paper with all the choices for their bubble waffle set for $8.90 +tax. The original and chocolate bubble waffles are included but you can upgrade and get flavors like matcha and charcoal for a bit more. Then you select an ice cream flavor, toppings, and syrup. The waffles are made to order so expect to wait at least 5-10 minutes. The waffle is served warm in a paper cone holder. The texture of it is chewy but crisp and it's so fun to eat by breaking the bubbles individually off. It's a perfect vehicle for the ice cream and toppings, balancing the sweetness. It's a big enough dessert that can be shared (and I don't like to share desserts lol). read more
Wanted to try the blue soft-serve (cookie monster flavor) but unfortunately when I came in today, I was told it's only a special flavor on rotation (and was out of rotation). Just got a vanilla + chocolate mix soft serve. The bubble waffle was fresh and delicious. The soft serve texture wasn't as thick as I had wanted, especially compared to Ubae next door. The dessert was also fairly pricey, clocking in at over $12. Maybe I'll come back for the cookie monster later. read more

Very refreshing! The place is a hole in the wall and not the easiest to fine. The sign is not hanging above the restaurant and there is a sign on the window (see photo). We ordered the original waffle cone with vanilla ice cream and some toppings. The dessert was refreshing. The soft served ice cream on top of a warm waffle hit the spot after our dinner. This place definitely picked up in popularity since I first started coming here. It can get pretty busy really quick. There's only a small space inside that is restricted to one party at a time while ordering. Ordering can take awhile if you don't have an idea of what you want because there's so many choices! Choice of waffle, flavor of ice cream, drizzle, and additional toppings. The workers are super sweet and even though it's made to order, they whip it up pretty quick. So smart that they have buzzers so you can wait outside or in your car. Check them out on Instagram and make your way over! read more
If there was an ice cream spot that closely resembled the Mickey ice cream from Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, this would be it. Not gonna lie, but the pretty pic on IG are the only reason I came but the taste of the ice cream definitely made it worth it. The store is small and there was only one worker so they only let two people in the store at a time. You have to fill out a sheet with what ice cream options you want, and it can be a bit confusing because there are no pre-set ice cream options. You just kind of throw it together. The wait time is by far the biggest con to this place being that I waited upwards of 20 minutes, in a hot car, just to get it but ultimately I would say it is worth it. It is a bit pricey, but you're paying for the presentation and all the pretty Instagram pics you'll get to take once you get it. Glad I got to try this place before leaving Hawaii. read more

Here is a perfect anyday treat! Rain or shine, this will satisfy that ice cream craving you got! Daily specials changing constantly! Service is decently, friendly. Nothing special, but their flavors vary from Kulolo or haupia, ube.... This is my 3rd time, and I decided to try the strawberry and it definitely lived up to STRAWBERRY! Super creammy, smooth consistency! The best part is like having a lil "homework!" You get this slip of paper and you select your waffle(original, chocolate, charcoal). Then, flavor of ice cream. After, the toppings, 2 free selections (marshmallow, oreo crumbs, kitkat, etc.) some are extra cost, which i typically get toasted marshmallow for an extra dollar or so, nutella... and much much more. You can do syrups too like chocolate syrup, caramel, and more too. My other favorite topping is definitely nutella! Overall, 10/10! I will forever recommend this place!! I enjoy coming here any day!! I love ice cream and this place, the ice cream loves you back..... AMAZING! read more
As delicious as it is beautiful was my Salted Caramel with Biscoffi cookies and Nutella sundae! The shop looks a little like they moved in yesterday or are moving tomorrow. These beauties take time to make so allow time! read more
Was not much of an experience, but enjoyed the freshly made waffle cone! The location itself is great, but definitely not somewhere to go if you're looking to hangout and enjoy..which is kind of a bummer....the girls working were really nice, and were all smiles! read more
Scrumptious ice cream dessert in egg waffle cones! Stopped by and ordered a strawberry ice cream with sprinkles, marshmallow, a macaron and whipped cream as the toppings. The egg waffle was served warm and complimented well with the ice cream. Taste & texture reminds me of a Belgian waffle. I prefer this over a regular sugar cone! This is a tiny shop with only one person running the store. No tables to dine-in, it's literally a small window to order & pick up. They allow one party in the store at a time to order and then you're given a pager to wait outside. Depending on how busy it is, you can expect up to a 20 minute wait! Would be nice if there were more workers to streamline the ordering process. This shop is in a small plaza with plenty of parking available. read more

Worth the drive from Waikiki! Plus there's a few other great places in the same shopping center to really make the trip across town worth it. There were three waffle choices when we went and I think about 6 ice cream choices. Place your order and wait outside for it to be ready. Double Three is located in the City Square Shopping Center in Kalihi and is just a couple doors down from Kam Bakery. Parking in this area can be really a hit or miss. It do tends to get busy due to the popularity of the surrounding shops / restaurant in the area like Young's Fish Market, Sugoi's, Thai Village and Ubae to name a few. There are more parking towards Chuck E Cheeses where it's more open. When we finally found parking we made our way towards Double Three and due to COVID-19, we weren't allowed to go into the shop. There was an order station set up right at the entrance where a nice lady met us. It seem like she was the only one there. She informed us to fill up the order sheet provided at the entrance and once we filled it out we gave it to the lady and she rang us up and left to make our dessert. The way to order is to basically choose your waffle flavor which are original, chocolate, matcha, charcoal and Oreo. You then choose your ice cream. They offer vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and "today's special" which will be on a sign near the register. After choosing your ice cream, you get to choose 2 toppings like marshmallows, chocolate chip, oreo crumbs and Twix candy to name a few. Last, but not least, you choose your syrup to complete your order. Additional toppings and syrup are available with extra cost. That day I went with a charcoal waffle with vanilla ice cream topped with Oreo crumbles, a brownie and whip cream and with a drizzle of chocolate syrup. It was one of the best dessert I've tried. The waffle, which was ominously looking because of it's color was surprisingly sweet and light. It complimented the sweetness of the vanilla ice cream and all the toppings I got. What a great experience we had here. I thought for sure when my GPS was bringing us it was to the wrong location, nope just the back way. We had the opportunity to order quick and then waited outside with a pager. It took about 10 minutes but it was worth it. The peanut butter cup ice cream was on special so I got that with KitKat, Lotus Biscoff cookies, and condensed milk. EDIT: I forgot to add that everything was so tasty. This place has THE BEST BUBBLE WAFFLE!!!!! I've tried Uji time in California and Happy Lemon on Ward and they don't come anywhere near Double Three. You just have to try it. The soft serve with it is absolutely amazing as well!!!!! read more

The dessert here is amazing! You get to pick your bubble waffle, ice cream, and toppings. The Kalihi location had only one girl working but her service was excellent. The ambiance of double three is cute! read more

One of the best soft serve ice creams on island. Rotating specialty flavors and lots of toppings to add. Efficient ordering process to avoid errors and confusion regarding selections. Quick check out and order fulfillment. This location is a cute small sho p with no seating, but a lot of sidewalk area outside to stand and eat your delicious creation. Whenever we're in town we try to come here for a tasty treat before heading back to the west side. read more

Good process in place for ordering during the pandemic. I ordered an espresso chip ice cream in a charcoal waffle cone with chocolate drizzle, almonds, and a matcha macaron. It was delicious and enough to share between 3 of us. We will definitely be back soon! read more

Saturdays we allow ourselves a splurge dessert. Hubby had a hankering for ice cream and spied Double Three after a quick online search. We bee-lined there as quick as a wink and were pleased to discover its part of a complex of small local spots that are on my "growing list" of places to check out. What they're doing is essentially simple. High quality soft-serve ice cream served in made to order waffle cones. Add toppings and sauce as you like and you're in for an awesome treat! Hubby got Vanilla with Reese's PB Cup and a Ferraro Rocher. Caramel Sauce topping. I did Double Chocolate ALSO with Reese's PB Cup and a Ferrari Rocher with sweet condensed milk. The soft-serve is delicious...with the vanilla being our favorite flavor of the two. They had Ube and Haupia as choices today but we went traditional but the star of the show is That waffle cone!!! Crisp exterior, light and airy, soft inside....AMAZING! You'll wait a couple minutes as they prepare your cone. A great time to chat with your fellow Double Three enthusiasts who are also waiting. This place is amazing and certainly worthy of your time and money if you're craving a special treat! Double Three makes these delicious waffles and stuffs them with ice cream and then loads them up with toppings. How could you go wrong? To be honest, one waffle cone with ice cream is enough for two to share, unless of course, you plan on subbing out an entire meal for one of Double Three's creations! My hubby comes here from time to time, and I've been here two times. This time, we got the original waffle cone, strawberry ice cream, fruity pebbles, oreos and chocolate sauce. This treat hit all the spots! The waffle is warm and soft, and the ice cream is oh so cold. What a delight! The waffle isn't so warm that it melts your ice cream, thankfully. I'm almost wondering if we should up the glutton ante by getting a double scoop of ice cream next time. We had a lot of leftover waffle after eating the ice cream. Or maybe we could get Double Three scoops! read more

There were three people working when we went. Wait time was very short.
