Rob and the gang at Timber Trails were super helpful in getting us tourists outfitted for a fun XC ski day. They were accommodating at making sure we could get a day rental and bring it back in time for others to get their reservations. They were knowledgeable and helpful. My only regret is that I didn't have enough time to shop all their great clothes bc everything looked delightful. Perfect spot to get rentals for a nice Yellowstone day! read more

Tried to get a boot fitting three times and boot fitter was never around! Traveled two hours for boot fitting and every time boot fitter, Dana? Was not there. Attempted to make an appointment over the phone and Dana assured me that it was not necessary. So on my third try I drove in from Billings, Mt for boot fitting and Dana was not there. Guy in shop said he would be back in an hour, just leave my number and he would call. Waited around Livingston for two hours, never a phone call. Now, two,days later I still haven't received a callback. Pathetic service, don't go there. I'll look for boot sizing elsewhere. read more

Rented some quality cross country gear(not waxed or tuned though) and the service was nice, even took a reservation for our gear. The skies where not waxed or tuned even after having a reservation and sevreal days to have the equipment tuned, waxed and ready. We where skiing Friday and Sat. And could return the gear sunday but was charged for the friday, Saturday and Sunday(CLOSED! Reopen on Monday at Noon 25$ a day for a total of 75$) again we could have returned the gear on sunday but they are closed and dont open till Noon on monday. So basically robbed of 25$ from these people cuz they Dont work on sunday and theres was no way to return the skies on sunday. Now i have to adjust my schedule on monday to return the gear. Not a fair exchange for sure. If you dont work on sunday then dont penalize the customer!! Have a return area for sundays or better be open if you are going to charge for the day!! If you coming to the area or Yellowstone to ski. Rent your gear in either Bozeman or they have rentals in the Park. So yes 1star rating for Unfair charges, and not having your gear tuned. read more

You cannot believe the customer service at this place! My husband forgot his ski poles on our recent trip and they loaned us a pair free of charge for a day because it was on a weekday. Wonderful folks and huge sale going on right now with lots of things 50% off. read more

I was on a bicycle tour this summer passing through Livingston. We stopped at the Timber Trails shop to use (borrow) their floor pump to give our bike tires a good, easy, correct floor pump charge. Jordan was gracious enough to pump up our tires for us! Great. On top of that we were having a problem finding a place to camp (town packed) so he offered his front yard (with a shower) for the night. Service beyond great! From the first time I walked into this warm and quaint shop, I knew I had found my gear source for outdoor adventure and that was almost two decades ago. Unlike other outdoor stores where "sizing up" has become the norm, the culture doesn't change at Timber Trails and you will never have an uncomfortable moment, not when dealing with the likes of Rob, Thomas, and Dale. In fact it is quite the opposite. The charm and appeal of this shop runs so deep that you will find yourself stopping by just to say hello. After experiencing Timber Trails you will feel like you are cheating on your spouse when you venture into other gear stores in search of outdoor apparatus. Best outdoor shop in MT. They might not be a big store, but they always have great, smart selection of gear and outdoor clothing. As someone who's into outdoor gear, I can tell you -- these guys do their research! They've also got a super selection of bikes, and do awesome bike repair. If they don't have something specific that you're looking for, they'll order it for you -- and for a super reasonable price. All of their staff is great and incredibly helpful. Most of them are can provide you very thorough and helpful guidance about where to hike, bike, camp, and fish. That's reason enough to shop there. For all of these reasons, I know lots of folks who drive well out of their way to go to Timber Trails. We're grateful it's around. read more

My boyfriend and I were visiting the Livingston area in September of 2013, and his road bike got a flat. Everyone we dealt with at the shop was knowledgable, friendly, and helpful. And they have a beautiful store full of fabulous clothing from all the top brands. It was hard to keep my credit card from getting a real workout. A great find on a really great trip. read more

Timber Trails RULES. I am one of those agonize-over-every-decision kind of shoppers, and when it came time to buy a new mountain bike, I was a combination of excited and totally overwhelmed. Dale, the shop owner, jumped at the opportunity to provide me with incredibly knowledgeable, patient customer service. He let me try out every single bike I was interested in and totally understood when I told him I had to go home and think about it (read: look at other shops). I looked all over Bozeman (including at REI) and still found that the bike at Timber Trails was the best overall deal. Plus, they stand by their products and insist that you bring your bike in for a free checkup after you've ridden it for a while. They also offer all sorts of customization options, none of which will break the bank. This place is the real deal for everything from cross country skis to sleeping bags to base layers- do yourself a favor and stop in. read more
