We've stopped by several times and have never been completely happy with the drinks, but we wanted to keep giving this place a chance and hopefully find something we enjoyed. Unfortunately, our most recent visit will be our last. We ordered the Flaming Crème Brûlée Pearl Milk and paid $8 per drink. What we received looked nothing like the drink advertised in both the name and the photo. There was no crème brûlée topping. When we asked about it, the staff first told us that the brûléed topping mixes in once the lid is put on. We were then told that they can't actually do the crème brûlée topping with to go lids. Had we been told that when ordering, we would have chosen a different drink. The staff appeared young and extremely busy, and I did not want to create a scene or make them uncomfortable by demanding a refund. Instead, I asked for management's contact information so I could address the issue directly. I have now reached out twice and have received no response. Based on our experience, I would pay attention to the one star reviews. read more

Inside was very cute and aesthetic. Lots of variety for drinks on the menu and they also had sweet and savory snacks to select from too. Service was very fast and friendly. The cashier was super nice! The drinks were terrible. I got the strawberry lemon delight and it was very bland. It tasted like water. No lemon or strawberry flavor at all. My sister also said her tea tasted like water and didn't taste like tea or even milk. Overall disappointed by the drinks. read more

My hubby and I were in the Citrus Heights area doing a Costco run and, since it was such a hot day, we decided to stop by this place for a refreshing beverage. We love sweetea. Awesome little spot to get a great boba drink or smoothies. Easy to find right off Maddison by Excel gym. Really cute inside with fun sky blue colors, digital menu boards, and music playing. All the drinks we got were awesome. Crème Brûlée boba was so so good. Everyone in our party was happy. Great service! The two girls in front were darlings. Plenty of parking and great atmosphere/aesthetics. No one in my group finished their drinks, my partner got his drink remade at the lowest sweetness level and still couldn't finish it. They add sweetness to the boba which adds to overall sweetness. The drinks are flavored with syrup which isn't uncommon but made the drink sweeter and gave it an artificial taste. I can't say that the boba really scratched my itch, I didn't find it refreshing or yummy. I should've tried the more popular options. I hate leaving bad reviews but I cannot recommend this spot, maybe the three drinks I tried were just not good options so if you do want to try this spot, I would try a different drink with 50% sweetness. read more

Satr., 9/27/2025 - Stopped by Sweetea to try them. Our first time here. Address is 8505 Madison Ave # 180, Fair Oaks, CA 95628. It's in a small shopping plaza. Upon arrival.... Pros 1) plenty of parking. 2) place was quiet and clean. 3) there's games you can play while waiting. 4) cute little place. 5) Cons 1) only one person working. 2) there was only 1 person ahead of us waiting for his 1 drink. Took the guy behind the counter a good 25 mins ish to make our taro smoothie and Thai Milk Tea. 3) their bathroom wasn't working. :'( 4) Taro boba smoothie was REALLY sweet. Too sweet. Thai Milk Tea was watery. I could barely taste the Thai tea in it. Very disappointed in both our drinks. Conclusion This is a cute little area. Clean restaurant. They had games you can play while waiting. Tables looked clean and white. Nice large parking lot w plenty of parking. Sadly, bathroom wasn't working, only 1 person working, our Taro Smoothie and Thai Milk Tea was not good, no smile or greeting when we walked in. ;) As cute as this place is, this will be our 1st and last time here. Great chain! We have now been to this location, and the one in Auburn. I'm a matcha person myself and theirs is good! I like a boba place with tall cups where you can adjust the sweetness, and where there's plenty of boba. They also have things that don't have caffeine for people who are sensitive to caffeine. How nice to see such nice, friendly boba places popping up everywhere around here! :) read more

Botched drinks at a boba shop in this day and age? Errr..... Hong Kong milk tea: 50% sweetness = heavily watered down. Barely milky. Thai milk tea: insanely sweet for something that was supposed to be at 50% sweetness. Tasted very artificial as well (though most likely because of all of the sugar). Hokkaido vanilla waffle: eh, just alright. Small cannoli-shaped spongy pancakes with cream filling. Refrigerated & pre-packaged. Looks and tastes like something that is within the realm of an 85°C Bakery Cafe. Not really warm service. Lady at the cashier was very quick on ringing me up my price total before I completely finished my order. Was hoping for good things here especially with the very cute branding and all, but with the fairly strong boba game currently in the Sac area this spot is a skip. read more

I ordered a matcha ube milk tea, popcorn chicken, brown sugar pearl fresh milk, and soft serve swirl through their website. They don't actually have soft serve. It was ready about 10 minutes after their website said it'd be. You have to ask for straws even though their drinks don't have sip lids. I didn't taste any actual matcha, ube, or tea in my drink. The chicken isn't like other boba spots - it was a weird coating and spicy (not noted on their website at all). The boba was nice and soft though. The cafe seemed clean. The drinks came in a cute reusable bag. Will I be back? Probably not. read more

First time going to this Boba spot. Pretty nice inside and drinks were good. Andrew helped us out was friendly he was on his own, but made the drinks pretty quickly. Sweetea is a fun spot in a convenient location. The shop itself is small, but the service is quick and the parking lot is sizeable. It is really nice inside, and I like that they have a unique menu. I go for the matcha with crystal boba tea, and I love that they ask what sweetness level I want, as I prefer less sweet matcha if possible. I also like to try different desserts. Their cheesecake was okay. I wouldn't get it again personally, but it wasn't bad. I have had the cream puff as well, and I would definitely get that again (at least, after I've worked my way through the dessert menu). I do agree with a review that says the drinks are small for the price and compared to other boba places. The taste, at least of my drink, makes it worth it, especially since I do not go here often. read more

Stopped in at Sweetea around 4pm on a Sunday as I arrived a bit early for my hair appointment in the salon nearby. It was decently busy, as there's only a few sitting tables, and this location is kinda narrow. The employee who took my order was very polite, and as I had seen high ratings of the drink on Yelp, I ordered a large matcha milk tea with boba. Wait time was minimal, especially considering the people who ordered ahead of me had purchased multiple drinks and some food, and there were only two people working. The total for my drink was about $6.75 before tax. I absolutely loved my drink! It was so yummy, and it comes in the cutest cup! The boba wasn't as chewy as I prefer, but I'd much rather it be a little soft than overly firm like I've had at some other boba shops. I can't wait to return when I get a chance! I want to try the Hong Kong milk tea, peach bubbling, and something from the creamy series eventually. Sweetea was too busy for me to take a photo of my drink near it, but it has the cutest area for photos too. Definitely one of my favorite boba shops in town! read more

It's sad to say that this place does not do boba justice. I was really excited to try this out hoping that it would be delicious, since I am a boba connoisseur....haha... all jokes aside, it just didn't make the mark. Here are my reasons: 1. the quality of the milk tea I ordered was watery. And it had so much ice! 2. For the price, the cup was like a Starbucks "short"or maybe even a "demi" which are the 2 smallest sizes weighing at 3 to an 8 oz. What they were charging, you could get a regular at a T4 or less. 3. The employees didn't know the ingredients of the drink, what type of milk, etc. There were good things about the place such as the brightness, the color scheme of their interior. But overall, it's about quality. And when it comes to boba quality, we just can't mess around!! I hope it gets better, I may come by and try it again. read more

Can't speak for the tea, just a delicious Oreo blended drink. Super excited to see they carry lactose-free milk and alternative dairy options. I requested the drink to be 25% sweet, which was plenty with out tasting too subtle. The service was friendly and quick, the person who took our order and made the drinks was very personable. I don't know what it was but I had a bad feeling about this place on this visit, the first 2 times everything we ordered was good, It was when they first opened I went in there and ordered a milk tea extra sweet with light ice with the lady worker, it's as if though she didn't listen to nothing I specified, the drink was full of ice and the sweetness level was barely noticeable but the killer part was when I got in the car and I was gonna put the drink in the cup holder the flimsy loose top on the drink came off and the whole drink ended in my lap and car seat, thanks for giving me a drink with a loose cap.....NO! Was in the area eating with my brother, so we stopped nearby to grab milk tea. We ordered oolong milk tea with honey boba, oolong tea with cheese foam and earl grey milk tea with honey boba. I got the oolong milk tea 50% sweet and surprisingly regretted it because I had to ask the cashier to add back the 50% sweet. Most boba places I've been to, the drinks are way too sweet for me so I usually get my drinks less sweet. Surprisingly, the drinks aren't too sweet to begin with, which I appreciated. Came here mid day Saturday and it was completely empty. Two ladies working were extremely nice and patient as we had no idea what we wanted to try. I literally just told them my daughter likes sweet and matcha and they had ample suggestions. We decided on a Matcha Rose, a Brown sugar Milk tea and a Matcha milk tea. Our favorite was the Matcha Rose as it had a cream cheese topping (a bit savory) and dried rose petals. We also got churros and a cream pastry cake we forgot to take a picture.
