Absolutely dreadful customer service at this location and I will not return. It was my first time ordering at a Sweetgreen so I am new to the whole process. A gentleman with a hipster/skate boarder vibe took my order. I chose my salad and said, "heavy" hinting that I wanted to go heavy on the dressing. This employee looks back at me with an unimpressed look and asks what I mean by that. I said, "heavy as in heavy on the dressing." He makes the most disgruntled face and replies with a sour tone, "yeah... just wait for that over there..." This rude gentleman might as well rolled his eyes and flicked me off with the energy he gave off. When he got to the dressing station, he asks, "What is it you wanted again? Heavy?" I refused to give eye contact and proceeded to the cashier. I wanted to give him the same energy he gave me. I paid for my bowl without saying a word and stormed out of there. Did two build your own bowls, and ended up getting charged for a bunch of extras somehow. Most bowl places only one or two things are extra, here everything is a premium item - not even sure what I was charged for. I was trying to avoid the extras and still got charged. This Sweetgreen always irritates me some way some how when I come here. I think this my last time coming back here. I placed my to-go order at 8:00, app says it will be ready by 8:20, I get there at 8:19 and there is literally nobody in the store. So she tells me they are waiting on more sweet potatoes for my order and that's it. 11 minutes later, I get my order. I get home, they forgot the rice in my order, the sweet potatoes still aren't soft, and it's like.... All this hassle I could have just went to Cava lol I'm not coming back. Not worth the 15 dollars. I ran across a great little establishment serving just that and more, Sweet Green's is a wonderful spot for a light but tasty meal, they serve up the greens in a variety ways to suit anyone platelet, should you feel like something more you can build your own. I am so happy to be back in the DMV, I have been absolutely craaaaving this place since I first had it three years ago! After three years of living in towns I can only call a foodie's greatest nightmare, I've finally found my vegan heaven! This will definitely become a new go-to! For this specific location, I just dinged it one star--while I had exceptional service, my mom, who had never been her before and did have questions about the different options available, dressings, etc., seemed to get the brush off from the employee helping her. She ended up with only one dressing, while I got two different ones to try, no bread, while I did, and she ended up having to use my lime because she just didn't want to ask anything else. I am OBSESSED. This was the first sweetgreen I've been to, so I don't have any context of how sweetgreens usually are, but judging by the other reviews, this one is particularly fantastic. I can't disagree. I work nearby, and last week I came here THREE times. The workers work fast + are always nice, and the salads are always fresh. It's hard to justify a $13 salad but I can't say I can make a better one at home. My go to is the chicken pesto salad. The combination of the sour, savory pesto with the umami hot sauce is to die for, really. I'd really like to try other salads, but I feel like I'm perpetually craving the chicken pesto one. This is the sweetgreen on Crystal Drive in Crystal City. Have sweetgreen's salad bowls become larger? I swear... they never used to be this big. Or am I going crazy. Someone please reach out and let me know. I'm really curious. Cause I remember going to sweetgreen a while back and thinking to myself: "These tiny salads will never fill me up." Sweetgreen is by far my favorite place to get a salad, locally or when I am traveling. Today I went for the peach & buratta and added salami. It was excellent! The staff at this location are efficient and friendly. The online ordering system was down today which I hope it doesn't stay down for long because I really like to order online to avoid lines at lunch time. This location is great on the go but also has plenty of seating inside. I have been eating Sweetgreen since the first location opened in Georgetown and the quality and consistency is always there. I know a lot of people say it's overpriced, however I think for the high quality of the ingredients and the amount of food the price is fair. Additionally, this is a great place for restrictive diets. A lot of my team at work is either gluten-free or dairy-free and this is one of the only restaurants we can all eat at and everyone is happy. read more

All I can say is wow, wow, and wow again!! My mom and I stumbled upon this place when searching for food yesterday and I am sooo glad that we walked in. Honestly I was a little hesitant at first because most of the menu is made up of salads, but they are AMAZING salads!! The gentleman that helped us was super nice and helpful. He suggested the salad that I ended up ordering, which was their chicken and kale salad. This salad was huge and filled with chunks of sweet potatoes, apples, goat cheese, and nuts. Everything came together so well with their red vinaigrette sauce. With their salad dressings they give you a choice of once around for "like", twice around for "love", and three times around for "give me more"! The salad surprised me so much as one it was extremely filling and two you could not even taste the kale. The bitter taste that you usually get from kale is gone. Everything in my salad was extremely fresh! Also, I loved the price, just $10 and I got two meals out of it--so awesome! Review for salad received in 2019. This review is for the Sweetgreen in Crystal City. I used to go there often and loved the salads. Service was quick. The last time I went to this Sweetgreen I got my salad and rushed home to eat it because I was starving. I was disgusted and mortified to see a tiny green worm crawling very fast trying to get out of my salad. I immediately too the salad threw it away and threw the trash out. I was extremely hungry before this and completely lost my appetite. It really made my upset and question if anything like worms that were in the previous salads I ate from this location. I can't bare to eat at any Sweetgreen location now. And mostly don't eat out as much anymore. After doing google searches I saw that several people have found things in their salads from Sweetgreen like bugs etc. Come to think of it i have only ordered about 2 to 3 salads after this experience from restaurants and will only consider it if the restaurant has more upscale standards. read more

They have a lot of interesting salads and you can customize everything to your preferences which I loved. I had the July salad with added chicken and it was perfect for a light dinner. I had the Hummus Tahina with their "house beverage" and literally couldn't find anything redeeming about it. The salad consisted of chopped romaine, shredded kale, herb falafel, local feta, tomatoes, red onion, cucumbers, za'atar breadcrumbs, housemade hummus, and cucumber tahini yogurt dressing. All the ingredients should have worked together, I mean it's almost the same thing I get when I order falafel from the street vendors at work, but it was so overpowered by the kale that it just didn't work and I really don't know what else to say about it. I think this location is a hit or miss. I've gotten generous portions and small portions with skimpy ingredients. Visiting during nonpeak hours is encouraged because it is definitely a location to avoid during weekday lunch (11:30am-1:30pm). The wait time is 15-20 minutes if you stand in line, and if you order online and pick-up, there's a good chance the order will be underportioned or missing something. I love sweetgreen but don't always trust this location. Twice in the past 2 months I was unsatisfied. Just remember that if you stand in line you can ask for more greens if you're unhappy with the portion! read more

When you have mostly fast food joints to choose from, a decidedly healthier alternative like this really fits the bill. I had the Pesto Portobello and my drink was the seasonal Carrot Turmeric Fresca. I really didn't know what to expect, just maybe lettuce and some quinoa with a heavy price. I loved it! They know exactly how to mix the right ingredients to get you a good sized portion of healthy greens, grains and other veggies. I usually don't like cold ingredients such as chickpeas, but in this case it mixed so well with the dressing. They ask how much of the dressing u want (light, medium, or a lot) and in my case I ordered medium. The drink Carrot Turmeric Fresca was definitely refreshing even if I had it on a cold day and was totally different. It had no extra sugary taste and you can definitely tell was made and juiced freshly with no artificial add ons. The place was also really clean and welcoming. My second time visiting this particular sweet green as I have been to several however I am at work (law enforcement) so I went to grab a quick dinner. The lady thanked me for waiting as she was the only one servicing the customers in the store. When she got to me she appeared to be a lilttle annoyed because I did not want to traditional big size bowl that they offer for a salad. I opted for the kids size which I always do. Being a Bariatric patient I cannot eat much or I will become ill. I simply asked for kale only, carrots, double blue cheese, one egg and avocado with bread crumbs. That's it not meat! The lady (Gladys) was so upset that I got the kids size she said that she was going to charge me different because she didn't feel that I should pay for the kids meal. Let me be clear I don't have a problem paying anything however YOU will not change the price due to your feelings. I was at the same restaurant the day before and requested the same thing as I don't eat meat! And the price was totally different than what she charged. I frequent Sweetgreen in the DC area and I have never received the type of Customer Service that she displayed the rolling of the eyes and rudeness was unacceptable. I told her the manager was their the day before helping the guy who took my order as he did not speak English just as the other two who was their when I encountered the horrible interaction with her and Gladys stated that the manager is a lady it's 3 or 4 different managers that are woman and one is a female as if I was lying or something and then she stated well he should not have done that I will speak with him. I requested to speak with the manager on duty and she refused to call one. I will never patronize this establishment again and I warn others as well.
