I typically like Chop't over Sweetgreen whenever I'm in Arlington, VA but this experience definitely lacked a bit. I noticed a few things about the orders. 1) there isn't much dressing throughout the salads, in either one - there wasn't enough dressing. 2) the shrimp wasn't the highest quality I'll just put it at that 3) the chicken wasn't great either. You can tell it had been chilling in the fridge over there at Chop't for a while. All in all the food was ok but I would've liked a better tasting bowl and some better quality when ordering from a place like this. Service was quick for a to-go order. read more

If I'm going to eat a $14 dollar fast-ish food salad, I want it to be from Chopt. There's something about the way they craft their salads, drizzle them in dressing and chop them up just perfectly. They're really good! Sweet Green is right across the street, but in my opinion, Chopt is the superior salad place. It's no frills and super easy to order on the screens or on their app. It takes them 5 mins or less to craft the salad, and then you're ready for deliciousness. My biggest complaint is that sometimes they are out of bread. It's so disappointing when this happens and I feel like they should give a discount for it... but they never do read more

The atmosphere is really nice, after the recent renovations. It's a smaller shop that is more catered to mobile orders. They can out of bread by 7pm, they close at 8pm. read more

The service was quick and there wasn't anyone else when I stopped by Monday night for a salad. I got the KALE CAESAR SALAD and all the ingredients came nicely together and I really liked the fresh crunch of the romaine lettuce. The Caesar dressing here isn't memorable, but the salad overall was still tasty and filling. I'd probably try something else next time! I don't think there's really any interior seating here so definitely only come to Chopt if you're looking to order to-go. read more

So, I have sympathy, but the one (1), guy in the place was not very interested in being nice. The restaurant in self Oder only, which sucks. No people to take the order and get it right. The restaurant was clean and had everything. The food looks greasy otherwise. I'd eat at the chain, but probably avoid this location. My issue was the employee making my salad didn't ask me how much I wanted the lettuce chopped. Yellow!? This is the name Of your establishment. I am somewhat boring and always get the Chicken Caesar Salad (the dressing is so darn addictive) but they have such a variety you can find a salad for any personality.  This is a hotbed for office lunch.  So if you are in a rush, steer clear of the 12 o'clock hour.  The team here does work hard to get everyone in, ordered, served, and out as quick as possible, much better than other restaurants in Rosslyn. I've been eating Sweetgreen at least once a week for the last few weeks, and have tried almost all of their salad bowls and harvest bowls now. I decided to try something different and get Chopt, but wish I had gotten Sweetgreen instead. The salads here are fine, but I think they are smaller than the Sweetgreen salads, and almost all have more romaine lettuce than healthier greens like kale and arugula, and less protein options. I got the Santa Fe salad which had avocado, tomato, corn, pepper jack cheese and fried onions chop't with romaine, with a chipotle vinaigrette. This was $8.99, and I added quinoa for an extra for $0.79. I thought the salad was just okay - I got it to go, and ate it within 10-15 minutes of getting it, and the lettuce was already starting to get soggy. I don't think I would get this again - for a Mexican inspired salad, I much prefer Sweetgreen's Guacamole Greens or Corn Elote salad. My husband got the NY Street Cart salad, which is one of their seasonal/specials that had chicken shawarma, roasted tomatoes, cauliflower quinoa tabbouleh, English cucumbers, pita chips, romaine, spinach purple cabbage & cilantro. I liked his salad a lot better than mine - it had good flavor from the spices in the chicken shawarma, and I liked the cauliflower quinoa for a little extra texture and vegetables. I'm a diehard Sweetgreen fan, but I would give this place one more shot, or come here if Sweetgreen wasn't open (but Sweetgreen opens later than this place does). Overall, fine for a salad, but I think there are better places for similar prices that have better quality & healthier ingredients. read more

Back in my bougie days I use to eat a sweetgreen very often (this was when they still accepted cash). One day I was with my mom to go pick up my dad from work in DC. For dinner I decide to eat at the chopt by Metro Center Station. I was very impressed because it was different, the salads were diced up in front of you and so forth. The salad I first got was a safe salad aka Caesar Salad. At that point when ever my mom went to pick up my dad. I would eat there often. So when Chopt came to Rosslyn I was real excited. When that happened I switch from the metro center location to the Rosslyn location. Currently my favorite is the Mexican Caesar with corn, cucumber and chicken. The woman who was chopping up my salad suggested I try the Mexican Caesar Dressing instead of the regular Caesar Dressing. She was spot on because it made the salad that much better. I was here pre and post renovation I think the restaurant now is beautiful. Yeah there's not many people working but they are super efficient especially during lunch hours. I think I was only waiting in line for about 5-8 minutes. I really like there destination salad. My favorite was this Caesar salad (yeahhh I like Caesar salads a lot) with cherry peppers but those salads are seasonal I think. Also the people who work there are really nice and even if they don't have something they try there best to make something similar. If the salad happens to be soggy generally it's not the salad chopper's fault because you have full control of how much dressing you want and you can also request dressing on the side. Between chopt and sweetgreen my favorite is chopt. For one chopt still accepts cash, you get more for what you pay for (portion wise). I still have love for sweetgreen (especially the guacamole greens)and I like how they support local farms etc. However I find myself gravitating to chopt when I'm in a salad mood. read more

Ate here for a light meal after work and found the food to be just OK. If you are looking for a quick and easy cold salad, this would be a good stop for you. Disclaimer: I am not a lover of salads. Instead, I ordered a roasted market warm bowl and it was a strange combination of cold and warm food toppings, and it just didn't work. It either needed to be warm or cold. The falafel was cold, which was by far the worst part. My coworker had a salad (all cold) and it was fresh spun and mixed with his selected toppings, he seemed to enjoy it. I had just arrived to Washington DC and I was starving from traveling all day. My hotel informed me that the hotel restaurant would be closed that evening for a function so I was forced to head out and find a different option. Not knowing anything around, I walked around the block to find many restaurants to choose from. I had never heard of Chopt before but I assumed I would like it based on the name. I love salad, vegetables, and healthy options. When I arrived, the place was nearly empty. It was just short of an hour before they were closing. There was no line so I was able to place my order right away. All of the ingredients are listed on the menu but you can also see them as they are displayed right there in front of you. I think you get five toppings for free and then you have to pay for every additional one. I think I added five extra and still the total only came to $20 and I added two water bottles. For all of that healthy food, and an enormous portion that I was able to eat for lunch the next day, $20 is totally worth it. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes, with the leftovers, the girl put everything in a side cup for me so nothing went to waste. The salad was delicious, and they have tons of options you can choose your greens, your vegetables, your dressing, and they chop it and shake it up in a bowl for you. You're right there telling them just how much to do everything so you get exactly what you want. It looks like they had just released new warm bowls as well. It was a happy accident. I originally wanted to order a warm bowl, but they said they were completely out of the farro. If ever in the area or if I see Chopt again somewhere else, I would love to go there again. Been going here since they've opened, always enjoyed the food. However, they just recently moved next door and everything changed. I walked in for the first time and there were two employees there, and the music was so loud I could barely hear the girl who came to the register speak. I asked her to turn it down a little and she ignored my request. One girl in the back making the salads, none of the food/ingredients are visible anymore. Very cold atmosphere with virtually no human interaction. So, they succeeded in eliminating 90% of their employees...and me. Won't be going back. read more

Fast, healthy, and yummy! What more could you want! I went here for a quick dinner and it was soo good! I got the harvest bowl which was amazing and very flavorful. It came with cauliflower rice which is soo good and healthier than regular rice and I sub the chicken for falafel. They had other options of pre-made bowls or you could create your own bowl/salad. We did not receive the side bread we ordered, the restaurant does not have spoons or knives, and the employees kicked us out right at 7:59. Well...looks like Chopt is finally making an effort to correct some mistakes. Notably, they now have begun to pre-chop the ingredients before hand, and as a result the lines are no longer being held up by the chopping process being at the end. Even though the ingredients are already chopped, they still seem fresh and don't seem to have any adverse effects on the salad quality. More importantly, portion sizes seem back to filling up the entire bowl. I remarked about this change to the employee now "mixing" the salads and she remarked that they had a lot of feedback about inconsistent portions (by the way, she was friendly. Looks like they are also cleaning house of the grumpy employees). Bravo Chopt. I only came in because I had a credit to spend, and well you have convinced me to come back again. read more

I came in with only hunger in my mind and I knew that I had to eat healthy today. I try to hit up this place at least once a week, and this week was no different. I went for the Mexican Ceasar salad that included the grilled chicken. The salad also included tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, and shredded cheese. The guy who prepared the salad hooked it up with a generous portion of chicken and shredded cheese. He also gave me a free slice of bread, which was nice. The best part if this salad is the dressing and it almost tastes like Chipotle sauce but it isn't. The while process if placing my order, checking out, and the preparation of the salad took less than three minutes. I love it when ordering food is that efficient! read more

I'm changing my review because they've changed their salad. Why are you chopping the greens in the morning and the line is still long. So sad to say but my favorite go to salad spot is no longer my favorite. They are now chopping the greens in the morning and when you chop the greens and it sits around for hours or just chopping before hand it takes the flavor away? This is why I got rid of my food processor because I noticed the difference between hand chopping with a knife versus putting it in the food processor when I make potato salad. I'm so heart broken, I loved this salad. Can we at least get the option of wanting it pre-chopped. Everything is such a rush nowadays. Chopt is a good salad spot with variety of good signature salads. I like that they have panko fried chicken as one of their meat options and their po boy salad is one of my favorites! One thing I don't like about Chopt is that they chopt is too much and it doesnt even taste like youre eating a salad. You can tell them not to chip it too much but when theyre busy and youre in the middle of a crowd, it's hard to tell them before they start chopping away. Also, if you order it for pick up, unless you state it in your order, your salad will be finely chopped. I like how you can substitute some of the signature salad toppings with what you want without extra charge. It makes it easier to order and change it to your liking! This spot gets really crowded during lunch time on the weekdays so I recommend ordering ahead to pick it up at a certain time. The line moves quickly but it'll save you 10-15 minutes! read more

I drove 45 minutes from Silver Spring to Rosslyn and waited in line for another 45 minutes for the free lunch offer today, but thanks to my hyrid (I love you, Aida!) I still spent less money on gas than I did on my fabulously healthy and tasty lunch! And for you Metro folk, the new Chop't branch is at a great location - RIGHT outside the Rosslyn Metro stop. I got the cobb salad with extra shrimp and dijon vinaigrette dressing and a regular soda, which would have cost me around $12. My plastic bowl was almost exploding out from under the lid, and even though it was my first meal of the day, I only got to eat one fifth of the thing! They did not skimp out on the avocado and bacon, as so many other restaurants do with my beloved cobb. The bf got the chop't po'boy with the tex-mex dressing and loved it as well. I really dig the sodas with the real cane sugar. If you've been to Mexico, you'll notice that their Coke tastes way better - because of the cane sugar. And as I sipped on my black cherry soda, I was taken back to the shores of Acapulco. I'm not a huge soda drinker though, so one drawback is that they don't offer any non-soda options for their fountain drinks. A few words about the service. Thanks to wonderful establishments like Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, I've begun to associate organicness (organicity?) to friendly and quirky service. How that association came about, I have no idea. But this place, with its fresh and all-natural ingredients, follows suit. Even though these people had been serving and chopping and serving and chopping these salads tirelessly all morning, I still got service with a smile, and an actual answer to "How are you?" I'm withholding my last star because I do feel like it's overpriced. The raw ingredients don't really cost that much, so what exactly are we paying for? Maybe freshness, maybe a novel idea. I've heard all sorts of good things about Chop't and finally decided to try it out the other day for a late lunch. I ordered the Santa Fe salad with sweet and smoky chipotle vinaigrette. Although the portions were huge and I could only finish half of my bowl, I thought the salad was extremely bland. All I tasted was a mix of lettuce and avocados.... But maybe they didn't put enough dressing, or maybe I just chose the wrong salad. Instead of regular soda options like Coke, Sprite, Fanta, etc. -- they have a brand called Puck's with different (but tasty) flavors of soda. I really liked the concept of Chop't, and I'll give it another chance in the future. P.S. There's only metered street parking available, so be sure to have a few quarters with you! read more

It was a very VERY hot 4th of July morning, and I was heading to a friends house for some pool and prepartying. I had to get something in my stomach, something light, something easy to digest, but filling! Enter, Chop't! Although I've walked passed the new omnipresent Make Your Own Salad bar place a billion times, I always thought of it as being a boring, overpriced, rabbit food vendor! Alas, I was wrong! I played it safe and went with a premade menu item salad. Heart of Palm, avocado, olives, cucumbers, shrimp...all promising to make me feel like summer is not so unbearably hot after all. Tossed diligently with just enough salad dressing to prevent salad-soup, and somehow squeezed into a plastic container bowl.....I was left wanting for not! Maybe $9 is a bit much for a bowl of leaves, but when the right components are added and combined just right, it's a meal that gives Chipotle a run for it's $9 burrito bowl (my usual lunch default)!
