It's a small, no frills salon with friendly technicians. The pedicure area is dimly lit, making it very relaxing. Tip #1 - don't choose your polish there; do it before you go back. The lighting is very good up front, but in the pedi chairs, it's more warm and relaxed, making it more difficult to choose a color accurately. They have a huge gel polish collection to choose from. Tip #2 - take cash or use the Travis Credit Union ATM right outside. They use disposable liners for the tubs and they clean them right away. They use clean towels on the foot rest area and the chairs themselves are simple to operate. I really love how dim it is, much more relaxing than most other places which are bright and loud. The mani area is also comfy, just more brightly lit. Everything was clean and my technician didn't ruin my relaxation by talking my ear off. I know some people enjoy the conversations, but that type of interaction is often draining for me and I'd prefer to relax quietly. I didn't get his name, but the man who did both my mani and pedi (not the owner) had a great attention to detail. He was constantly checking his work and fixing tiny imperfections. I appreciate this tremendously. I had the basic spa pedi, which is $25, with gel polish, adding $10. My gel mani was $20, so the total was $55. Unfortunately, my last two visits completely changed my opinion. During the first visit, the nail technician repeatedly cut the skin around my fingernails and toenails, causing me to bleed several times. He did apologize, but I was surprised that no discount or adjustment was offered after I was injured during both my manicure and pedicure. I did not complain at the time because I did not want to be confrontational, and since it was my first bad experience there, I decided to give the salon another chance. During my next visit, everything seemed to go smoothly. However, about a week later, I began experiencing severe pain in my big toe and realized I had developed an ingrown toenail. Soon afterward, several other toes began hurting as well. Because I walk frequently for work, the pain became extremely difficult to manage, and I eventually made an appointment with a podiatrist. After examining my feet, the podiatrist found that I had nine ingrown toenails and was also showing early signs of a fungal infection. I cannot say with complete certainty where the fungal issue originated, but these problems appeared shortly after my pedicure, and I had not experienced anything like this before. I had remained loyal to this salon because of my previous positive experiences, but after being cut repeatedly during one visit and then dealing with multiple painful ingrown toenails after the next, I no longer feel comfortable returning. I am sharing this review so other customers can make an informed decision and be cautious about how their nails are being trimmed.
