The pros: -The variety of sauces were delicious -The brisket was moist and had food flavor -The Mac and cheese had fantastic flavor -The plate was served with pickles and onions, which I haven't seen since I left the south -Great value! The cons: -the pulled pork was dry -The Mac and cheese was super saucy -not a big variety What I sampled was delicious, and I'll keep up with the Southerner to try more food (I have my eye on the chicken and waffles on a stick).

Walking through the office today I caught the smell of delicious smoked goodness and instantly wanted some for myself. I can't tell you how happy I was to find that the aroma that caused me to lose track of my engineering responsibilities was located directly outside the front door to the building. This was my 2nd time to get a mouth watering BBQ sandwich from The Southerner. The folks running the truck are always more than helpful and provide a meal that's a good value proposition. Quality, quantity and price seem to be well balanced. Albeit a tad bit on the expensive side. Look to spend about $12 for a sandwich and side. The turkey, brisket and sausage are all great. The brisket is pulled not sliced or chopped. It makes for a great tasting sandwich that doesn't need much sauce at all. Although the sauce is pretty darn good they get 5 stars for not needing it.

The hot chicken sandwich was not only incredibly thick and juicy, but the crust was crispy without being overwhelming or too much breading. I loved the spicy sauce that was used to make it hot chicken and somehow it didn't make the sandwich soggy at all. The slaw was more of a vinegar base, so it didn't weight it down with a heavy creamy flavor. Also the pickles were heavenly and I want to eat them on EVERYTHING. Moving onto the handcut, double fried fries. They were crispy and such a delight to see on a food truck, as far too often you get sad, pre-frozen fries. These were phenomenal and we ate every single one of them! You can practically taste the quality through the photos, they're everything and more than you'd imagine. I can't wait to try more things ASAP!

The fries are what I would go back for since they were really the best part of the meal. The chicken sandwich was just okay for me. I think the flavor was lacking, but the chicken was moist and the breading was crunchy; I just wish it had a little more flavor. My husband had the Nashville hot chicken and said that it was just not as hot as he had hoped. This is a good option for a food truck and I would go back to order again in hopes that the flavor would be better next time!

I got the enchiladas de mole and the shrimp a la diabla, which had some pretty unique flavors and complexity. Fair warning the shrimp a la diabla was the spiciest thing I have ever had. It was really good but definitely not the faint of heart. It was sooooo spicy that I was sweating. The enchiladas was very good as well. The mole sauce had an interesting bitterness to it. I liked it very much. I highly recommend you ordering that one. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here and I would come back to try more of their food.

On this 85° day , the A/C wasn't working. They put a small bowl of chips on our table. (Supposedly homemade) They were greasy with very little flavor. My husband got a bottled beer. I asked for iced water. It came in a styrofoam cup, no lid, no straw, no ice. I asked for ice. They brought some in a small plastic bowl. I had no silverware to help the ice into the glass. Our food came separately. My husband's steak fajita was extremely tough with few veggies. Five minutes later, my cheese quesadilla arrived. It was small and on the plate was one plastic fork. A roll of paper towels was on the table. We wanted to love this place, but sadly we won't be back.

What stuck with me more than the issue itself was how it was handled, fully understand that things happen, but taking ownership and explaining how you'll prevent it in the future really matters. That said, I finally decided to give them another try. Most of my experiences here have actually been positive. The majority of the staff are patient and give you time to look over all the flavors without making you feel rushed, which I appreciate. But my most recent visit left a bad impression. I stopped by early one Sunday morning around 6 AM to grab donuts for my nursing unit, and I was the only person in the store. Despite that, I felt rushed the entire time. The employee helping me didn't seem like she wanted to be there and wasn't very pleasant, which kind of threw off the whole experience. On the plus side, I do love that they're open 24 hours, super convenient, and the donuts themselves are good. My go-to is the Caramel Bacon Long John (definitely worth trying). Runner up is the Apple fritter.I will say, though, the flavor, texture, and even the size can be a little inconsistent at times. Another thing I've noticed is the pricing. I understand costs have gone up everywhere, but paying around $30 for a box of donuts, especially with upcharges for "specialty" ones feels a bit steep. Pro tip: check their website for coupons or deals before you go. It definitely helps. Overall, I'd still say give them a try and form your own opinion. This has just been my experience.
