After spending a week visiting my mom in Shingletown, my family and I stopped here to get gas and…read moresandwiches for our 6 hour trip back home. I've been coming to Reeds for 10 years and have spent thousands of dollars here. In the past, we would always have a great experience in the deli and market. Today was different! I ordered 3 sandwiches and chips. After I paid, one of the women asked me if I wanted sourdough instead of French bread. I asked her if they are all out and can I see what bread options they have. She said they're not out but they need to bake more. Before I could make a decision, some blonde middle aged woman behind the counter snapped at me saying something about how they're not out, but they have to bake more, then slams her hands down on the counter and storms off. The first woman looks at me embarrassed and said to just ignore her. 20-30 minutes later, when they handed us our food, another older woman with tattoos rudely yells "well that was a hassle!" WTF!? A hassle? In what world, is it appropriate to act this way toward customers ordering food? RUDE af employees. The first woman with an accent that helped me at the register was the nicest of the three. The sandwiches were delicious, but I will NEVER order food from here again.

I LOVE Reed's. The sandwiches from the deli are so good! The grocery store is a little pricey, but that's to be expected as it's a mom and pop in the woods and not a chain grocery store in an urban area. We cannot imagine how challenging it would be if Reeds wasn't there! Oh and if you go to the deli, there is indoor seating. :)

There are displays about animals and the natural history of the park. There is even a small snack bar to buy food. Sure, there are limited selections, but it's there if you're not prepared and haven't brought your own snacks to fuel your national park explorations. T-shirts are nice, albeit rather expensive for official park T-shirts. There is wifi here, so you can message that friend that you were supposed to meet up with, but something went awry.

Came during a busy afternoon and most of their food items were sold out for the day. So, come early or during the non-peak times if you want to have an actual selection of food to choose from. There's a small dining room are where you can sit and enjoy your meal. They also have soft serve ice cream which is pretty dang good and hits the spot during the summertime. They've got a good amount of souvenirs but not much of selection compared to other National Park gift shops. The service staff is nice and welcoming. I'd still be on the safe side and pack your own lunch, but check this place out to see if they have some hot food options available if you're not craving a cold lunch. Don't miss out on the soft serve ice cream either!

I moved to Paradise in the summer of 2024, and for about a year and a half I could not find a coffee joint that was both convenient and a local enterprise I could feel good about supporting. I don't recall the first time I entered Lofi, because by the time they re-opened I had somehow already integrated the morning visit into my regular routine. I can't tell you about the individual drinks, because I've tried each and every combination the guys behind the counter have to offer, or near enough. I can tell you that Jared, Garret, and everyone else in the family involved with Lofi are some of the best people you could ask for to provide the kind of neighborhood center a town still in the throes of reconstruction like Paradise desperately needs. I am moving away from Paradise today, but I'll miss the times spent as (often) the very first customer of the day. Thank you Lofi!

On my second visit it was actually less busy and the same older lady was behind the counter taking orders and covering the register. I was trying to decide on my next meal and was asking a lot of questions. She responded dismissively by saying, she "didn't have time for my questions." When I mentioned that she had answered all my questions the week prior, nothing changed so I pointed out that it was much busier the week prior compared to me being there for the second time, she maintained her viewpoint. I understand she was filling in while her daughter was on maternity leave at that time but that's still not an excuse to treat customers poorly, especially around dietary needs. Because of that interaction, I won't be returning. No second chance from me. If you have dietary restrictions, I'd think twice.
