I am glad I suggested it, my two friends and the daughter of one of my friends went. We got there a half hour before it closed but the owner still made us feel welcomed. We all had fun perusing through the store and picking out things to buy. My friend's little girl especially liked the Christmas section. Of course the store has non Christmas items too. If you like quaint, eclectic shops, you will love this one. The store has a combination of new items and nice antiques. There were a lot of unique things to buy. Once ownership changed, the service went downhill. For the past several years, we kept given it another try and another chance - always leaving feeling sad for the old fountain, and the sweet teens that worked hard and were kind, the wait was always worth it. Unfortunately the owner, and this isn't a one time thing, but every year since opening, our family and friends have repeatedly been treated rudely. I used to think maybe she was having a bad day...but it keeps happening. You end up feeling like you're in the way, unwanted, or wasting her time. I used to think it won't last ....they will be out of business.....it's 2026 and it's still open. This is the 1st year we didn't go. :( The recipes are different - shakes are smaller and you get treated poorly. Might be better off going to Jeffroes produce for a shake, or pine shack frosty. I hope things will improve at the Rusty, but for now it's not worth dealing with the owner. I hope she gets better. The feedback is very consistent. RIP Lassen Drug.

So I decided to cook them overnight expecting that by breakfast they would be just perfect. Nope, still crunchy. After a google search I learned that the beans were old. I think I enjoyed the food more last time. 2021 review: The lovely people here have completely biased my review We got to the lodge around 8:30 pm and after checking in, I asked what time the restaurant remained open till. One of the servers said, oh we close at 8 pm, then looked at the clock which showed 8:30 pm and then told me, "we can still seat you, no issues!" Who does that?! Only good people, that's who!! Couldn't thank them enough as we would've had to drive God knows how far to get food! They didn't rush us after seating either. For the dinner, we ordered the trout fillet, the steak with coleslaw, cottage cheese, chicken noodle soup and baked beans as sides and a glass of Chardonnay and IPA from the tap. The food was very good. Nice and homey and delicious. The sides were perfect accompaniments to the main courses. For breakfast the next morning, we ordered the Belgian waffle and the bacon and cheese omelet with country potatoes and a latte. This was also very good, well-made delicious and very filling. The latte was excellent! The prices are not cheap and you may have limited options of vegetarian. All in all, my experience with this family and establishment is a huge positive and I'll recommend it to anyone who comes this way!
