I thought he would have alerted the owner that we were there, but no one came out. :( Saw LOTS of cute things and unique succulents that I would have purchased, but no one came out to greet us. Would be nice if there was a sign explaining what to do if you want to buy something. Maybe I should have called the number on this yelp listing? Hours of operation is confusing as well. The 3-acre botanical garden seems to be a natural wonder. Hard to imagine the visionaries. Marshall and Lester, who were inspired to create this garden. It was a joy to see Western Hills after so many years. The magic is still there. Gardeners, landscapers, nature lovers will all find a place to learn, rest, and retreat. Call ahead about visiting and available plants in season. The daily fee is worth every penny. Hundreds of plant varieties many very rare. Tucked away on Coleman Valley Road in Occidental, this is more than a day trip adventure.

They have an amazing collection of healthy plants, succulents, cacti, bonsai trees as well as numerous greenhouses you can walk through filled with all kinds of potted plants. Their selection is varied and not what you would normally see at other nurseries. I've noticed their plants at other stores so they wholesale as well. When the weather is nice, it is a peaceful quiet place to take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the property. Their employees are always very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. It's hard to walk away without a new green friend in your arms. Parking could be tight on Saturdays. Open limited days and hours.

I searched most of the east bay and finally got a few recommendations from expert plant growers to head up to Sebastopol and visit Lone Pine Gardens. Almost an hour and a half drive and the entrance is just a gate off on Lone Pine with only a couple of places to even park on the narrow road. But definitely worth the drive if you're looking for a variety of Bonsai at different stages and for incredibly reasonable prices. Lone Pine has a fantastic variety of species, stages, and styles of Bonsai plants and trees. What I liked l most was the variety of prices and sizes. Most places charge an arms and a leg but an early bonsai here is close to half the price at other places. The bonus was the nice variety of succulents. A bit out of the way, but the best place to shop for bonsai and browse succulents and other potted plants.

We ended up with a big project to line our fence with clumping bamboo to provide more privacy and three larger bamboo plants to fill in where we had empty spots from cut down trees. Josh, Jeremy, and Kyle were at our house three days after we visited the nursery and did a fantastic job planting and getting irrigation set up for us. We absolutely love our new bamboo and can't believe it was in the ground to enjoy by the next weekend. We can't wait to see it filled in! Thank you so much!!!
