Practically as soon as I parked the car, they were at my window ready to take my order. Didn't have to turn my lights on at all. There were no windows on the east side of the building so I was wondering how they see when my lights come on since I saw only one camera mounted way up high on the outside ceiling and it was sort of in the back of the cars. My guess it's random after seeing the staff constantly walking around outside as if on patrol probably looking for lights. To address another reviewer's parking concern, I inspected the parking lot and found a total of 55 numbered spaces although 5 were taken up by a semi trailer but that appears temporary to me. The wall menu does not have any prices. The staff carry paper menus with them that have the pricing plus you can keep them for next time. That is how I found out about the two special sauces on the Galley Boy. When the food arrived on a complicated looking tray, they just handed it to me. I'm not sure if it is supposed to attach somewhere either inside or outside the car. It looked like it was supposed to attach somewhere. See my photo. I ordered the Galley Boy without the mayo sauce and added lettuce and tomato. I also ordered their Onion Rings. The menu says the Galley Boy comes with two special sauces. Good thing my order taker told me what they were so I could hold the mayo one. I'm glad the other special sauce was BBQ. The burger was indeed very good and worthy of return visits. The onion rings were okay, perhaps a tad overcooked. Plenty of other sides to choose from for my next visit. I ordered a Vanilla Shake to go. It was nice and creamy plus thick. Notice at the bottom of the wall menu where it says you can cater your next event with their food truck. There is a listed web link too.

Finally a Swensons in Indiana!!! Growing up in northeast Ohio, Swensons was a go to and every time I'm home it's one of my first stops. BUT NOW I don't have to go home for my favorites: double cheeseburger with onions, fried zucchini (side of ranch) and a California! I am so happy this location is open and I will be heading back here whenever I can (and just hoping the lines don't get too long). Also for first timers, it's best to eat food fresh in the car. I had to eat mine at home because I didn't have enough time.

Delicious food!! Friendly staff!!! Convenient parking!! Pull up turn your lights on to place your order, a server sprints out to take your order!!! Tried the double cheeseburger, the bun was a sweet bun and the crispy edges were delicious!!! Next, the potatoe teezers filled with cheese & jalapeños dipped in ranch!! Awesome!!! And to drink a delicious milkshake made fresh with peanut butter and hot fudge!!! OMG so good!! Overall was delicious!!! Definitely be back!! Welcome to Avon!!!!!!!

Went in to try this place because I had never been to one. I got the triple the meat on the burger was alright but the bun was horrible it had a sweet taste and the burger was not that big. The fries were average at best. Had some of their jalapeno poppers they were not that good. The service was quick and friendly. It is in a good location right next to the Costco. And there was plenty of parking. It can be a little loud because it is located next to US 36 . They do have quite a few things on there menu and I might be willing to go back and try some of them. As far as their burger goes they should change the bun or offer a nother choice of buns. Just give me a sesame seed bun and I'm fine.

This is what The Galley Boy looked like when I opened it.

I rarely write bad reviews, but the food at this place was such a disappointment. Swensons has been hyped up on the Internet as it's new to Indy, and I wanted to see what the chain was all about so I drove out to Avon. The best part about the restaurant was the service. I did not have to wait at all or even put on my headlights for someone to come out and talk to me. Most of the carhops looked very young, and they were super enthusiastic about waiting on me and the menu. When I go to a new place, I like to try the things that they are known for. I got the Galley Boy and the Potato Teezers. I also got a root beer. This is where things went sideways. The galley boy is super sweet. It has two sauces on it, one is mayo-based and one is a barbecue sauce. But the barbecue sauce is insanely sweet. It has a piece of cheese on it, but it was super thin. And the bun... I have no idea what kind of bun they're using, but I would recommend some thing different. it is extremely dry. Like almost scratchy to the touch. When I opened the burger, it looked kind of an appetizing, but I went for it anyway. I took two bites, and I was done. Next I tried the potato teezers. They are akin to a tater tot with cheese and jalapeños. How could that be bad? Answer, they didn't taste like anything. They were very bland and needed salt or something. They were not spicy and you couldn't really taste the cheese. It was like an unseasoned tater tot. I tried drowning them and ranch, but even their packaged ranch was a little sweet. I couldn't do it. Lastly, the root beer. I don't know what kind of root beer they use, but it was also super sweet. And to me, it tasted like bubblegum. For a $13 meal and a 30 minute drive, I was super disappointed. It's a really cute retro idea, with really awesome staff. But the execution, for me, just isn't there. If I'm ever back on the west side with someone who likes this place, I would most likely try a regular burger. But for the money, my preference would be to skip it all together.

This quick review is of the food only as my wife surprised me for dinner tonight. She knew I wanted to eat here but I haven't had a chance to stop in. She was at Costco already and placed an order for a Galley boy with sides of fried zucchini and potato teezers. Oh what amazing food for burgers and fries. This sets a new higher mark for a drive through. The toppings on the burger are plentiful including onion, lettuce two sauces an olive etc. Lets just say it can be a bit messy bit I loved the taste and texture of the burger. The potato teezers were amazing and so much better than fries or tater tots. The spice of the jalapeños and added cheese elevate this from mere fried side to star. Zuchini is a welcomed option as well since how many times can you eat just fries. I will return to try more of the menu as I know there are plenty of unusual and good choices to test.

Went to try Swenson's Drive in to try out this New Resturant in Avon. Swenson's is a drive in resturant where you don't have to leave your car for service of you have to do it flash your hazards and they come running to your car . We tried the signature burger the galley boy and it was pretty good a different spin on the occasional hamburger . I enjoyed the potato teezers which are also a Swenson's original decent potatoes it reminded me of a jalapeños poppper jade made which potatoes instead of a jalapeños the fries were plain nothing special. Swenson's was decent not great or amazing but a solid burger place that got the job done . Excited to try the shakes next time they looked very good with a lot of different flavors options and toppings.

What a disappointment. The negative comments we've read about Swenson's on their other social media posts and news articles turn out to be accurate in our experience. Here's what we tried. The "Galley Boy" -- a 5.4 ounce "double cheeseburger" (we weighed it on our food scale) with one nearly invisible slice of cheese, two razor thin layers of different "special sauces" and a green olive on a toothpick stuck into the chewy, smashed bun -- a sad, subpar item. The cheeseburger -- smaller than most kids menu cheeseburgers, much more bun than beef, also smashed, assembled without care. Chili -- no beans, more runny than thick, flavored with a smoky sweet barbecue sauce and a bit of a zing. The flavors do not mesh. Potato puffs -- tater tots. Undercooked. Onion rings -- crunchy, overcooked. French fries -- thin batter coating frozen fries, good when hot but not when cold. Zucchini sticks -- the best item in our order but where's the marinara, Swenson's? The kitchen and the product just aren't that good. Bottom line. Slow down and check the food before it goes out, managers! Corporate people and franchise owner (if there is one) -- improve your ingredients and portions. The building is shiny and new; the system for taking orders and delivering food was implemented well by kind, friendly, energetic young men and women obviously doing their best. The second star is because of them. You either eat in your car or get it to go like we did. You have to park facing the building and use your headlights when you are ready for ordering or need additional service. So much potential here but the business model -- menu and ingredient choices and portions in particular -- needs serious review. Just about any other restaurant choice for miles serves a better cheeseburger.

Swenson's claim to fame is the food doesn't sit under the heat lamp after being made, and servers run, yes run to take your order when you turn on your lights and again later to deliver your freshly made order to your car. Known for just burgers they offer actually a good sized menu and variety of sandwiches, sides, soups, desserts and unique soft drinks, malts, froth, shakes, and flavored sodas. We watched a short you-tube video on the history of this business that started in 1934 when it was announced a new location would be opening in our back yard. All other locations except Columbus OH and 1 in Cincy are located around Cleveland, so we felt fortunate to have one open all the way out here in Avon IN. We enjoyed a couple of burgers sodas and onion rings. Because we ordered to go we missed out on the old fashion car tray stands and some of the right off the grill tastes, but our food was still hot fresh and delicious when we ate at home. The check out policy isn't until they bring your food which delays your ability to enjoy the hot food some but it's really quick with the hand held portable scanners. Swensons really is a step back in time for good old fashion food, flavors, and friendly fast service with a smile.

AK-Rowdy-Rowdy! East side Hendricks County? I am glad this is finally here! I got hooked on Galley Boys at the original in Cuyahoga Falls and I am glad there is finally one in Indiana. They are struggling a little bit with the opening with speed of service but I think they will figure that out. They are using a tablet for orders instead of the traditional pen and paper and that slows them down. A lot of it also appears to be the customers. There was a huge line at the entrance just to get in but I think people were asking about the menu because some cars sat and chatted for 5+ minutes while we pulled right in. This location is also super small which is a bit weird. Most Swenson's have parking around all 4 sides of the building and then the 3 sides of the lot. This one is short about half of the usual parking even though they have a huge grass area that could have been more parking. My only hope is that they will build more so I don't have to drive an hour round trip but I will still take that over the old 9 hour round trip.

I've been craving a good burger for a couple of weeks. I knew Culver's or Steak & Shake didn't have what I was looking for. Just so happened to be in area and made a abrupt left turn when I seen the Swensons sign. Threw me off cuz I didn't see where to order but here comes a gentleman literally running to my car to take my order! I just wanted to try it out so I just got a cheeseburger with bacon. Yep instantly regretted not ordering more food. The burger was exactly what my taste buds have been craving for.

Zo-Bot's Soda and Fries is pretty much exactly what you expect. Billing itself as Indy's first "Dirty Soda" shop, Zo-Bot's definitely did precede Swig, a national chain that recently entered the Indy market. For those not in the know, "Dirty Soda" is essentially a drink that includes soda "spiked" with cream, flavored syrups, or fruit juices. Strangely enough, the trend finds a lot of its roots in Mormonism (Don't ask me to explain it). Zo-Bot's has a decent variety of Dirty Soda options with bases of sodas like root beer, Coke, Sprite, lemonade, seltzer, Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew, and others. They also carry a variety of seasoned fries. The truck is fun and festive. The people are friendly. I really enjoy the drinks - I'm quite fond of the Indy 500 - a drink blending Mountain Dew, mango, and blood orange. I seem to be particularly fond of the Mountain Dew-based options. Being a footless Yelper, I had to try "Leg Day" - Mountain Dew, Peace, Pineapple, and Coconut Cream. I'm not a big fan of coconut, however, I did like this drink. This is the kind of truck I like finding at Statehouse Market. It's something I wouldn't usually seek out - an original experience on one of the rare days that I get out of my cubicle for lunch. I will admit I'm a bit hit-and-miss with the fries, though I'm still skewing upward toward a 5-star with quality products, fair prices, friendly employees, and a super fun truck. I do like the garlic parm seasoning for fries - plus, hey, they have funnel cake fries. It's decadent but fun and tasty.
