March 2022 prices to give you an idea of cost. Planned increase by a few bucks in April 2022.

I had to get my tennis racquet restrung as the strings broke. Ken was fantastic in guiding me through my options. From new racquets to new strings-- natural vs polyester vs synthetic vs multifilament, gauge, tension, how often I should restring.... everything. Decided to go with Rafa's setup (Babolat RPM Blast 16g, ~55lbs) and I can already see a noticeable difference. I had my own overgrip and they happily offered to put it on for me. So glad because the job is far better than I would've done myself and literally took him 30 seconds! I included some tennis string prices in the attached photo which include labor to give you an idea of relative cost. Note the prices are planned to increase by a few bucks in April 2022. Overall, I'm a very happy customer with Swetka's and will definitely return. These guys know what they're talking about, are specialized in restringing as compared to places like DicksSportingGoods, supports local business, and they have a frequent stringers club (after 10 restringings, you get one free).

Most Knowledgeable, Passionate, and Professional Team & Staff at any Tennis Store I have ever experienced.

I've been playing tennis regularly since 1981, and league tennis since 1997 in the South Bay, but have only been to Swetka's a handful of times. Why so few times? Here's why. Got a notice in the mail of Swetka's store wide July 4 sale, with 10%-40% off. Checked out their clothing, looking for men's tennis shorts, but found the only items 40% off were certain women's apparel. About 5 years ago, I got a used Prince 110 Silver O Ring racquet used at Swetka's during a sale, and loved it. Unfortunately all the tennis manufacturers bring out new racquets and discontinue old racquets, as part of their marketing. The Silver O Ring racquet is no longer manufactured. I looked over their used racquets, and asked if they had anything similar. The store assistant brought out two racquets, but they were not Prince racquets, so I didn't buy them. In fact Swetka's doesn't sell new Prince racquets anymore, based on their website. One of my fellow tennis players just purchased a new Yonex tennis racquet at Swetka's, after being in the demo program for ages. The guy was 80 years old, and we wondered if he would live to see the day he got out of the demo program! Checked out the top of the line tennis shoes, and all were $100+, and only 10% off during the sale. Ended up getting basic Dunlop tennis balls at $1.99 each, limit 6 cans. Went over to Big 5 Sporting Goods, and used a $10 off minimum $30 coupon purchase to get 9 cans of top of the line Penn ATP tennis balls, normally $3.50 a can, but now $2.39 a can with the mailer coupon. Drove 4.5 miles back to Sunnyvale Tennis Center, and the Lifetime Tennis Pro Shop. Found some Head Revolt 2.5 tennis shoes, originally $119 (current price on Amazon), discounted to $85, and now marked down to $53 for July 4th only. Added it to my collection of 5 pairs of shoes purchased here in the past 4 years originally $89-$119, and purchased for $50-$59 at Lifetime Tennis. Goes to show that Lifetime Tennis in Sunnyvale discounts tennis shoes, tennis clothes and tennis racquets much more than Swetka's. Of course there is a reason the tennis shoes and clothes are severely discounted at Lifetime tennis. If you see me in men's red and white tennis shoes and a bright red long sleeve tennis shirt (for protection from the sun) , I'm not crossdressing, but simply wearing the shoes and clothes that were on sale. Wore the red tennis shoes to the court one day, and someone asked if it came with wheels and bright lights, as you see on kid's shoes! It is what it is.

During the World Cup they were selling a specific World Cup pin that other stores didn't carry or you had to pay double the price for it online. I checked the inventory on the store website and it said they have about 6 in stock, so I went in to grab it. Upon entering I was greeted immediately and found that the World Cup section was directly upfront by the registers which was great, but I wasn't successful in finding the pin, so the cashier tried helping look for it and we had no luck. They doubled check to see if there were any in the back, but there weren't. I was told it's here but misplaced somewhere else and they had no clue. I was on the hunt for this pin and no other locations at Dicks had it except for the Sunnyvale location. I was disappointed I couldn't get the pin, but the people here were really nice and tried to locate it.

Posting this as a cautionary tale for anyone buying shoes at Dick's Sporting Goods - Sunnyvale…read more This would have been a one star rating if not for Xavier in Footwear. Excellent service and attitude. I bought a pair of On Cloud shoes and within 5 days realized they were too big. The issue only showed up in real-world use: when walking downhill my foot slid forward into the toe box. That's not something you reliably catch by taking a few steps indoors. I went back to do a simple exchange (not a refund). The shoes were clean and in excellent condition. The only visible difference was very slight yellowing on the outsole contact pads -- noticeable under their bright store lighting but not dirty, or damaged. At first I was told the exchange would be fine. After further inspection, they reversed course and said the shoes were not "resaleable" due to wear. I spoke with multiple people (each initially identifying themselves as "the manager" before clarifying their role), and after a lot of back and forth the best options offered were: * 15% off a replacement pair, or * $60 store credit as a "no receipt return" value (they said this reflects the lowest recent selling price and excludes clearance). I ultimately took the $60 credit because my time is worth something and I needed the correct size. But the key takeaway is this: If you buy shoes here, assume you cannot test them outdoors -- even briefly -- without risking being denied an exchange. The 90-day return policy sounds generous, but in practice footwear appears to need to look completely unworn to qualify. I'm sharing this so others don't make the same assumption I did.

We booked the bike about a week in advance for a full day for $65, and it was ready for pickup when we arrived. The staff did a safety inspection and let us know that helmets are included with the rental and that we could return the bike to any Sports Basement location. My friend also asked if they could leave their backpack there, and the staff kept it behind the desk, which was really nice. The bike was in good condition! We rode it for 4-5 hours with no issues. A few things I wanted to point out - the seat was pretty narrow and hard, which made it uncomfortable to sit on. It had been a while since I last biked, so I'm not sure if I just need to wear padded shorts or if the seat wasn't the right fit for me. Another thing is that I couldn't sit in the front because the seat was too tall for me to comfortably reach the pedals, and there didn't seem to be an easy way to adjust the height. Lastly, it would've been nice to have a phone mount on the handlebar for navigation. We turned in the bike at the end of the day. Overall, the process was very smooth, the staff were friendly, and the rental was affordable. I would do it again, but I'd wear padded shorts next time :)

=== Most comfortable pair of running shoes I've encountered thanks to Chris ===…read more For context, I got more seriously into running 4-5 years ago. Since my first pair of shoes, I've started learning a little about what seems to work well and what doesn't. But there's still so much to learn and SO many shoes out there. I've been to a number of sports stores (Sports Basement, Fleet Feet, Footwear Etc.) so was looking forward to trying out Roadrunner. +++ Chris was incredible. Greeted me immediately but made sure that the customer he was working with was taken care of. Asked if I had been there before (no, I hadn't), offered feet analysis (yes, please) and while we were doing that, asked great questions about context -- activity level, any injuries I had experienced, shoes I had run in before and my experience in them. He made some measured suggestions about what might fit my feet and running style, did the measurements, and then modified his recommendations. He brought out his recommendations, even offering a sequence in which to try them. Then he _gave me space_ to take time with the shoes. He let me know that he was available any time I might need him, and would very periodically check in, but was great about giving me time with the shoes. After the first round of feedback on the shoes, he went and got one or two more, after which I made my decision. +++ I ended up with shoes I LOVED. After trying out 6-10 different shoes recommended by experience salespeople, none of them felt great. They were all decent and I was getting used to the idea that that's just how it was going to be. I had tried Brooks, Hokas, On's, Altra's. Based on my experience with my previous shoes, he brought out Brooks but also brought out a Hoka and an Asics. I LOVED the Asics (Gel Cumulus). Felt like putting on a glove but with space, felt secure on the run, just the right amount of padding. I didn't know running shoes could feel like this. Did Chris just get lucky recommending these? Maybe, but he's the only salesperson that suggested these. Note: even AI hadn't come up with this which goes to show that sometimes People 1 AI 0. * Yes, he offered custom insoles that other reviews have talked about. But he wasn't pushy about them at all, and in fact, recommended that we start with the shoes and see how those were before diving further into the customs. + He talked about their VIP program. But it wasn't high-pressured, and in my case, it made sense. $20 for the first year of the program with an immediate 10% off your purchase that day (which was already $15). 10% off purchases in the next year. Plus, he made some mention of $20 in store credit in the first year. It's $20 -- I pay almost that much for a burrito (well, burrito supreme and maybe a drink). + Don't let their narrow storefront fool you -- the store sincerely feels big inside. Can't compare really to Sports Basement since that's just a section and SB is devoted to lots of different activities. Sunnyvale RR feels larger than Menlo Park's Fleet Feet. Don't know how Sunnyvale's RR compared to Campbell's RR (would be curious to hear from those that have been to both.) What's particular nice is you actually DO have room to run in there. + They make you wear their socks for both measurement and trying on shoes. That's actually pretty awesome because it means they're taking care of their shoes. I thought this was clever. They're nice socks so they do simulate what an actual run would be like. - They don't let you take the shoes outside, or least don't seem to. He offered me a run inside the store or on one of several nice treadmills (I've never found treadmill running to approximate road running so I stuck to the store running.) -- He seemed to indicate that WITHOUT the VIP membership, you can't return the shoes after you've worn them. This is very different from Fleet Feet, Nike, and other stores I've been to where they will take shoes back as long as they're in decent condition. * You don't need to check in or put your name on a list when you get there. I don't think that's positive or negative -- this is just about what to expect when you get there. (When you get to Fleet Feet, you put your name on a list so they know whom to help next. Just different ways of doing things.) Super super impressed with Chris. I hear about people falling in love with their shoes -- grateful that this might happen with my next pair due to him.

My boyfriend and I came in to return a pair of shoes, but we were apparently confused about the return/exchange policy--or perhaps it wasn't explained clearly when we originally purchased them. We were under the impression that returns and exchanges could be made within 90 days of purchase. When we arrived, we were told that our shoes could only be exchanged, not returned. That wasn't the issue. Once the policy was explained, we understood it. What made the experience frustrating was the attitude we received from multiple employees. The staff kept repeating the policy over and over, and it started to feel less like they were helping us understand and more like they were talking down to us. One sales associate, Vlad, was especially condescending. He compared our situation to buying a used car, driving it around, scratching it up, and then expecting a full refund. He repeatedly pointed out scuffs on the shoes, even after we acknowledged and understood the policy. The comparison felt unnecessary, and his tone came across as rude rather than helpful. Later, after Vlad went on break, we were assisted by Chris at the register. He was able to process the exchange onto a gift card, which we appreciated, but he also seemed to be in a bad mood and wasn't particularly friendly. Maybe it was just an off day for the staff, but the overall customer service at this location was disappointing. If you have the option, I'd recommend going to the Campbell location instead. I've consistently had much better experiences there.

Although staff was helpful to her in her search for shoes, what made the entire experience terrible was how hard staff pushed us toward purchasing a membership. One staff member assisting my wife initially had done the sales pitch, and we listened willingly. Later on, another person gave the same sales pitch to my wife, and she kindly told her that she's already been told about the membership. When we went to the check-out counter, the person at the counter started giving the same sales pitch about the membership. I immediately cut her off, my wife told her that she has already been told about it, and I said "no thank you." The person at the counter again tried to give the pitch, and I cut her off again and said "no thank you." For a third time, she tried to resume the sales pitch. I got ticked and gave her a stern response: "NO PLEASE!" She finally stopped. That entire experience left a bad impression on me, and I wasn't sure if this type of thing was specific to just the REI in Sunnyvale (I normally don't shop at REI). So I did some research online and found out that this type of thing happens commonly among various REI stores. I even found an online article from 2015 that talked about this, even citing the CEO of REI who gave a response regarding this matter of pushing memberships. He came across as being understanding of this matter. But that was back in 2015. it's now 2026, and obviously nothing has changed relating to this. I'm not returning to REI after what I experienced yesterday. They've lost any potential future business from me. If they can't accept an initial "no" answer and thus continue to push the sale of a membership, they've lost my respect and my business. And should anyone from REI choose to respond to this post, it's not changing anything from me relating to REI.

True to his words, he is VERY good with the Thumbs & he helped me build confidence in my release. Matt also helped me with my arsenal and suggested The Road and gave me a different layout to help fill my bag. This ball is amazing & the layout gives me a different look. I LOVE it! I can't thank you enough Matt. If you are in need of a ball or questions about your fitting, 100% come see Matt!
