I had to leave soon when I noticed a couple sitting off on the side smoking cigarettes who refused to stop smoking after being made aware of the no smoking sign on the playground. It appears many families come through this location on Sundays so it's a great place to hang out, have some lunch with your kiddo. Just wished it was more regulated to keep the smoking away.

There's signs that suggest to park for 4 hours, which is plenty of time. I've come here for Aztec new year which is a festival and to just run/bike with friends. There are 2 places to enter, but sometimes only one of the entrances are opened. In the case of today, only one direction of one gate is opened. So when we exit, we need to drive on the wrong side of the driveway to get out, but do our best to avoid cars that are entering at the same time.

The times here vary though, on weekdays I think its about 4pm-8pm that fellas play and on the weekdays its very different. I would say Saturday maybe from 9am up until around 5pm and on Sunday its about 3pm and onwards. For the most part the court is kept up. Guys arent too dramatic there so you can usually catch a game pretty quick.

Having procured a California State Library Pass from my local public library for a period of three…read moreweeks, I reviewed the list of participating State Parks and realized I had not yet visited the Los Angeles State Historic Park since its re-design 20 years ago. I've driven by it hundreds of times to and from work and yet only now took the time to visit. The above-mentioned pass allows day parking in the official lot; however, there is plenty of street parking in the area and no admission fee. I planned my visit for a pre-breakfast stroll and had the company of many locals taking advantage of the 32-acre park for their morning contstitutionals. The paths and green spaces are beautifully maintained. The pollinator space is especially lovely, planted with native plants to attract humming birds and native bees. It's a place of peace and calm and the perfect way to start the day. There are several works of public art in the park, my favorite being "This Park is Made by the People" by Rosten Woo. The lineup looked pretty good and I've been so excited to see William Black live since I missed him at Goldrush in AZ last year. There were 2 stages: Vivid and Lucid. These stages don't compare to EDC obviously, but Lucid was cool with the hanging jellyfish. There are plenty of food and drink vendors near both stages and the night market area, which I missed. Alcohol was pretty expensive. 3 charges totaling $165.25. I did get 1 free water bottle. VIP - venue workers did not know where to get the VIP lanyard, which was annoying. I eventually found it myself. Stop by VIP Concierge for free goodies, treats and trinkets. VIP bathrooms are supposed to be cleaner and they usually are but at this event, they weren't all that great. They should add some VIP bathrooms to the middle of the venue between the two stages so it's not so far. Idk why this event starts so early. It is way too hot to start things in the middle of the day and in the middle of summer. It would be better if they moved it to a different venue where they can start a bit later or change the dates so it's not in summer. Also, there is no designated drop off point for Ubers/Lyfts so they're kinda just pulling off to the side at a random spot and you just gotta hurry up and get out. You also have to walk pretty far away from the venue after the event ends before you can call an Uber/Lyft. I had fun but my feet died each night.

LAAC has changed a lot since my last review from 10 years ago. It continues to have the best pool…read morewith advanced filtration system that does not make me feel like a chlorine tablet after swimming. But it now caters to a younger crowd and has substantial co-working space. I've certain found more members using the facilities but also discovered quite a bit of new programmings like the Pilates classes, mahjong club, live jazz performances and movie nights. I was not really sure about the change at the beginning but I am now fully embracing the new LAAC. Many of the staff and members have been here for a long time and it is nice to be greeted by familiar faces when coming to the club. The restaurants are pretty decent. Love to top my salad with a nice piece of salmon after workout at the Famous Players or have a tasty glass of scotch while enjoying the live jazz performance at the Invention. The sports bar Duke's has great happy hours and fun monthly evening karaoke or chess club meetings. The only thing I complain about is the need for shock absorbance and insulation of the noise or moving the weight station. The northwest corner of the Famous Players near Olive Street shakes every time the weightlifters drop their weights, which is very annoying and distracting for the diners. Feel like the ceiling or floor is going to drop out. No joke. For now, I would sit as far away from the northwest corner as I possibly can. But hope the club would look into it. I have been trying to sign up for the monthly wine tasting but they are always full. Maybe consider having the event more frequently or scale up? Regardless, I am still exploring all the new offerings at the club and really pleased with the Pilates classes and the live music performances. Although I am apprehensive when I first see the co-working space and the influx of new members, I now appreciate the additional events and classes that come with the new members and hope the club continues to do well and do better as I am here to stay.

As usual, water in the room costs money, and there are a few other products with hidden price tags in the room, too. Surprisingly, toothbrush and toothpaste was not provided. The water for showering also doesn't get too hot. In terms of the athletic space, the machines were very easy to access. There was never a wait even on weekend afternoons. The lap pool was my favorite part - clean and calm. There was some miscommunication between the lobby and the store, as one said there is no reservation system but there in fact was. But even when told all the lanes were fully reserved, more than half weren't in use. Parking is a bit of a hassle; for non-members it's definitely not worth it. At the time of visit, the parking machine wasn't working. There are also sperate elevators for parking vs the athletic club / hotel area which was a little confusing. The stair numbers also didn't coordinate the best with actual level.

I won't elaborate too much on the Lakers, Kobe, and his daughter because everyone would be aware of the essence of this place. The mural of Kobe and his daughter smiling beautifully captures the power of love between father and daughter. The court floor is painted in yellow and purple, matching the Lakers' theme perfectly. What an inspiring and grateful gift to the community. Lucky you, Anaheim! There's a glass backboard on each side of the basketball hoop. The floor is made of plastic material similar to beer bottle racks, making it non-slippery and great for safety, especially when performing ankle-breaking crossover moves. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 despite it being stunningly beautiful and the only full court available. The issue is that when groups of 10 show up, smaller groups get pushed out with nowhere else to go. After shooting around for a few minutes at half court, my son and I were forced to move aside when 10 people suddenly decided to play full court. This is a public court, so I don't mind sharing. However, with no other full courts in the area, we had no choice but to step off. I would have loved to reserve the next game, but we were there for my son's practice, so the timing wasn't right. Maybe next time we'll join in for some 5-on-5 with the older crowd!
