Buyer be ready...this soft fluffy yet huge donut is delicious. My friend and I stopped in randomly for a breakfast sandwich on the way to New Haven. The bagel with egg and cheese was delicious. One minor flaw: the bagel a wee too much salt but that's because I am generally salt averse. At the last minute I decided to take a donut to go... best idea of the day. I went to The Whole Donut today for the first time. I'm pretty much always craving donuts but at 5pm I wanted to go some place where I was pretty sure they'd still taste fresh and delicious. After seeing The Whole Donut on Yelp I decided to give it a try. I'm SO glad I did! I couldn't believe the size and quality of the donuts for just over $1 a piece. The selection was excellent despite it being 2 hours from closing time (and they absolutely still tasted fresh & yummy!) I went inside, but was surprised to see they have a drive-thru, too. I didn't have any cash on me and they have a $5 minimum for cards, just FYI. This isn't much but considering the great prices of their donuts I had to get 4 (not that I mind one bit). Fresh donuts made on site and served with a smile. I stopped here every single day before school in high school and it got to the point to where they already knew my order once they saw me. The donuts are fluffy and light but if you eat one you'll be full because they're pretty big compared to other donut shops. Great staff and freshly made food. read more

I like the donuts here. They are a lot better then dunkin donuts (which I don't like very much). The donuts are tasty and crispy(not soft like Krispy Kreme). This is my absolute favorite place to go for a coffee (and donut of course!) I grew up in Berlin, but have since moved. Any time that I am in the area, I make it a point to stop by to get a coffee. The chocolate raspberry coffee is my favorite, not only because it is always made right the first time, but because the flavor does not come from added "flavor shots" so it is not overly sweet. My favorite donut is the cherry cake, and it is hard to find (if even possible to find) anywhere else, and the donuts are always fresh! I will continue to stop by whenever I can, and can only hope one shows up near where I live! read more

Beat bagel ever. Everything is made fresh daily. The bagel was so soft and fresh which would be absolutely divine with creme cheese. I had a breakfast sandwich. Haven't eaten my donut yet but. This place is so good. I am glad there are not more of them around though because then I fear they would sell out like dunkin donuts. But the coffee, donuts, sandwiches, muffins, bagels and staff are all awesome!!! The coffee is so much better than any other place and it tastes real not synthetic. Try the lemon filled donut it is delicious and I love their cinnamon hazelnut coffee!!! An old-school Hartford-area staple, one of the few left owned by a humble Korean family. Donuts are delicious, on-site made, varietous and plentiful even in the afternoon when ubiquitous rival chains taper off. Like most remaining WDs, there's usually a lot of curmudgeonous, foul-mouthed geezers here who are manner-deprived but if you take your goods to go, they won't look at you like an outsider (even if you're a years-long frequenteer). They recently changed cup manufacturers (at all WD franchises) and the coffee suffers from an intense inky/papery stench which hurts what's an otherwise charming yesteryear coffee hole. read more

Puts DD to shame. Coffee is great and the donuts are legit. Their glazed chocolate donut is our favorite. The coffee is flavored by the beans, not syrup. They do have a drive through but the speaker is broken so you have to drive up to the window to order. Service is quick. Highly recommend over other chains! read more

Hi all went here today at 2pm for a box of donuts , now when I say ,I have been back since the late 1970's its the truth .The owners were very nice and accommodating and the place was very clean ! I took my dozen and made my way home put the coffee on... open the box and grabbed a kroller an bit ah just as I remembered thank goodness! All were fresh a like home made . Don't change a thing . Today I got coffee and donuts for my team here. As usual, coffee and donuts are perfect for my taste. IMPORTANTLY, there are only a few of them left. Now, Dunkin that is taking over the world can't compare to the Whole Donut. They make the donuts and all at a factory and deliver them to the stores on a truck. By the time you get them they taste like day old already. AND, Dunkin's donuts, etc., just keep getting smaller and smaller........I LOVE THE WHOLE DONUT and am sad to see them dwindle to such a few. I hope someone with money takes this operation and brings it back so everyone can enjoy real good old fashioned donut shop products. Thanks for all the wonderful years of your products!!!! read more

I will always take the long route to work so I can start my morning with The Whole Donut coffee.They serve actually flavored coffee instead of pumping in syrup - I get the toasted almond. Their donuts are on another level as well. The cherry is definitely my favorite. read more

This review is for the Whole Donut and Restaurant located right next door called Swithes next-door. I have had nothing but great experiences there their food is completely up to par. Expect to spend $12-$13 on a sandwich chips and a drink, but I feel that it is worth every penny. They only use boars head meat which is top notch. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. I have been coming to this establishment for over two years and have never experienced an issue or a problem or anything that would make me not want to return.
