Get there as close to their 6 am opening as possible because they may run out of their most popular donuts by 8 if not earlier. And bring cash. I arrived at 6:15 a.m. There was a steady flow of people, but no line and no apparent missing donut types. The donuts run on the smaller side, but they are a good value. Like $8 a dozen good value. The donuts were obviously fresh made and well executed. They were smartly packaged too. I tried parts of a cruller, a crumb, a cherry, a chocolate toasted coconut and a toasted coconut. All tasty. Great texture. High quality donuts. Gerry's has a classic vibe. There are some tables and some counter seats. Everybody I saw got takeout. Service was helpful and efficient. Gerry's Donuts is a 25 minute drive for me. But it would be worth visiting again. 4.5 Stars

He decided to branch out and make a tiny donut shop, so we wanted to swing by and give him a try. The shop is small, designed more for your pick up and go crowd. The signage is a little small, so you will need to know where to go to find it. The selection of donuts is akin to specialty cookie shops. They keep a standard selection of doughnuts on demand but also rotate out a few types to keep things fresh. You order your doughnuts with the cashier, and then get to watch your doughnuts get dipped and packed right in front of you. We got a dozen of these little doughnuts. Took our pics then dug in. As a doughnut, they are good. They are a cake doughnut with a little vanilla in the batter to give it a mellow buttery floral flavor note. Not majorly noticeable, but just enough to make it better than just straight up cake. The best bite was the strawberry shortcake. Fresh strawberries with a light whipped cream gives that flavor profile one would expect from a very solid strawberry shortcake. The rest were of varying states of okay for the toppings. The maple bacon was good, the local maple glaze was very maple forward and tasty. The bacon crumbles needed to be cooked more. They were a little too soft and chewy for that style of doughnut. The doughnuts with chocolate syrup needs a better chocolate syrup. Would probably replace with a chocolate drizzle instead. Would hold up better if not eaten immediately. Some of the glazes were not made in house, and were a bit too strong for some of the other toppings on them. They will need to figure out a way to tweak these glazes to not be overpowering. As a destination spot I would expect an elevated product, and this shop is not set up to be elevated just yet. It's set up to be a local morning doughnut place, which is valid but will need to fight to get people to see them. There's some promise to this business idea. They will need to commit to either a boutique tiny doughnut shop or a local pick up and on demand delivery spot. Either one could work, but they need to find their footing first. For those interested in trying this place, it's a good spot for a little sweet treat. Stick to the non-chocolate flavors, get enough to share, and enjoy!

And that adorableness comes in twenty flavor varieties - peanut butters, candies, fruits, cookies, and of course...chocolates. They cost between $1 and $1.20 each depending on the quantity you want. I bought a box of fifteen for $15. I had some time to kill before my appointment in Rocky Hill, so I also ordered a small coffee, lemon, and almond donut to enjoy on site. Now that's easier said than done because the store is small and only has a counter with two stools. Luckily, both were vacant so I settled in, drank their excellent freshly made coffee (small for $3.50) and savored my little donut treats. Indulge By Palazzo also specializes in coffees and protein shakes to help you wash down those donuts, and it looks like they are set up to sell ice cream in season. We ordered a 8 pack of mini donuts and 2 protein doughnuts. The mini doughnuts came in a myriad of flavor combos. Those flavors were pronounced, the base is a cake doughnut so it's spongy but light. It's a good cake doughnut, but I'm not really a fan of cake style doughnuts. For me, cake doughnuts need to be right out the oven to be good. These were made recently, but cooled significantly and not to my preference. The protein doughnuts were dipped fresh. They were not much different in terms of consistency but it's a much denser doughnut and a bit of chew because of the protein powder. It also has the aftertaste of sunflower shells that health products tend to have. Not unpleasant, but makes it taste like standard "healthy" products It's not bad, but it's also not great. For the price is right for the quality, and it's one of the few dessert options for the area. It's worth a try if you're around or if you really like cake doughnuts, but I wouldn't trek there.

The more recently Luke's Donuts is under new ownership and they have reshaped the donuts to a more reasonable size, not eye popping like old, but served with pride and a huge smile. Almost as good as the custom cupcakes are their clever CT inspired names: Plain Twain, Mohegan Mocha, Charter Oak Chocolate, Colony Carrot, Yankee Lemon & more. Luckily, Murphy has never worked in Hartford and tried The Cupcake Brake. I also doubt that Murphy ever tried a cupcake or there would be a "except if there is a cupcake involved" clause to all his laws. The Cupcake Brake is a brightly coloured yellow truck that parks in different areas of Hartford each day. You can either leave getting a cupcake to the serendipitous chance of running into the truck... or if you're more aggressive about your cupcake hunting you can sign up for the email updates (on the website) or follow TheCupcakeBrake on Twitter. Larry (or as I call him "The Cupcake Man") makes phenomenal little cupcakes that really pack a powerful punch. How's that for accidental alliteration? Upon arriving at the cupcake truck you're met with an absurd amount of choices as you choose the type of cupcake base, the frosting and whether or not you'd like it filled (and if so, with what!). Decisions, decisions. My first impression upon lifting my cupcake from its nondescript white paper bag was that I should go back and order one more. It seemed smaller than the monstrous ones that have become so popular (Crumbs..). I was wrong however, and I was completely satisfied with one. The frosting was buttery and rich and not overwhelmingly sweet. The cupcake base was moist and dense, a nice contrast from the frosting. I'd ordered peanut butter filling that was nice and nutty, but I think I'll have to try the marshmallow or Boston creme next time. I was working at one of the htfd events and their truck was there. They also have the best employees that work for them and serve the best tasting ice cream sandwiches. I've had pretty much all of them but this time I had to try the Thiq Mint hand scooped chillwich which was mint chip * mini chip in between 2 chocolate chunk cookies. They are a bit pricey but you do get an unbelievable size ice cream sandwich loaded with ice cream.

There is no fee to enter. The owners renovated a 1976 ice cream truck and brings it to events like weddings, corporate events, Anniversaries, etc. They have a fleet of vehicles that serves ice cream; some of these can be rented for events too, for example, a party trailer. They offer cups, cones, and ice cream sandwiches called Chillwiches. I had the Cookie Monstah Chillwich; this was huge! Vanilla ice cream with cookie dough, chocolate drizzle, in between two large chocolate chunk cookies. It was amazing and I couldn't finish it because it was so large. They have a variety of flavors to choose from. Overall, a very delicious ice cream and I highly recommend.
