When an old keyed doorknob broke and we couldn't gain entry, I didn't know who to call. A friend recommended CR Locksmith in Woodland, so I went there first. I described that the job was to a) break in, b) replace the keyed doorknob with hardware I would provide, and c) match the new doorknob with the old key. The man behind the counter, who appeared to have no work to do, said he couldn't provide a quote for the work without seeing it and that just going to see the problem would be $80 (although it was less than a mile away). My gouging alarm went off, and I walked out, knowing I must search online for lower-cost Sacramento-based companies. I'm so glad I found Swift Locksmith. Leo answered the phone and, unlike CR Locksmith, was able to quote the job after hearing my description. Leo was pretty booked that day, but still said he could come out around 5pm. I made a couple more calls and then called back Leo to say he was the second-lowest bid but that I will hire him because the lowest bid couldn't come that day. Then Leo made it even better, telling me that his co-worker, Zaid, was finishing a job in Natomas and could be in Woodland in 45 minutes. I said let's do it. When Zaid showed up with his toolchest, he was done with the job in about 20 minutes and then 5 minutes more for credit card payment via Square on Zaid's smartphone which sent me my receipt via email. I needed emergency repair completed on the ignition to my older Honda Pilot in the evening due to family traveling out of town the next morning. I ended up calling numerous so called "24/7" businesses who would initially advise me a technician would be out within 20-30 minutes, to later getting an unfortunate return call of a technician being unavailable until the following morning. The dispatcher refused to give me any price range at all for quote. He guaranteed a 25 min arrival time but the locksmith showed up over an hour later. It was over 100 degrees outside I had to wait in. The locksmith then told me there is a standard service charge and rates btwn 119.00-139.00. I called last week at about 8 am for mobile service. I was at work so I was not worried about timing. By 9 am, Leo was already working on my car. He diagnosed it as the tumbler going out on the drivers side door. He quoted me, I agreed and he got to work. He explained to me that he could not fix it completely because of a mechanism going bad. I would have to order the part from Honda to get it working at 100% However, it works great! If it starts to get stuck I just have to jiggle the lock.
