Anyone who wants/needs TLC to learn how to swim needs to take advantage of this wonderful organization.

My daughter has been going to Mikey for 2 years. Mikey is a great teacher and has made my daughter a confident swimmer. Mikey teaches my Daughter different strokes, how to dive as well as how to be water safe. My daughter enjoys every lesson with Mikey and looks forward to seeing her every week. Mikey is unstable as a person. Has 4/6 kids with 2 instructors. She is negligent and hired high school kids with no experience to watch special needs kids who are late constantly and she acts like that's our problem or fault. Huge fight by the pool today because I asked who is watching my child. Had my card number and never charged me or any other parent a single session though they had our card number and once she finally got around to realizing that hit me with a 3k bill charged me all for being with her when 90% of sessions were with high school kid, she might start with your child but hands off to the kids and charges you for her time. And tried to shame us by yelling we haven't paid at the pool today because we asked who will be with our son. When she has a card on file, and is the one who just finally got around to accounting after 2 years!! And to try and embarrass me yelled that when I was asking who will instruct my son when she had three kids in her arms. And no one there to take my son yet was calling him to the water. Was asking to speak with her to ask who he will be with and she said are you kidding me? I have two instructors late, either put him the water or don't. So unstable. 3 parents at our ABA told us she freaked out on them. Hadn't experienced it until today. Will never bring my son back. Photos are of her with 4 children and 2 instructors today and leaving 2 children completely unattended across the pool from her. Then her late instructors arrive she says no biggy for being late even though she just had a freak out for me checking my sons safety. And then the instructors talked and leaned on ropes leaving their children out of site and doing their own thing. Not to mention how many sessions she has missed, unanswered emails and not to mention the mess when we first tried to get started with her!! Sending us to wrong locations though I spoke with her and kept scheduling directly with Mikey. my first session after she messed up scheduling 3 times I had to ask her how she ever expected me to trust her with the responsibility of my sons life when she can't even keep a scheduled appointment and then had no instructor there and available because she forgot she scheduled him for the 3rd time!!! Then we forgave and continues for years and kept patience because our son loved her and we really liked her. But kept hearing stories of her instability and one parent asking us if we think she is drunk. And i stood up for her and explained she once had a stroke. And after seeing her today I do not feel safe for my child, or the abuse you have to endure if she has a day with mood instability. We said "we'd talk later." And she said "No! I don't want to talk!" And continued screaming across the pool. She acted like an actual child. The people she hires are around 16 with zero experience. She told us she fired Magnus a kid that worked there and then a month later let him come back after talking so much shit on him to us and then expected us to trust our son with him again. Same kid I had to tell to stop talking to the pretty girl instructor and watch my son as he couldn't reach and was saying help but they were talking with their back to them and couldn't see him. And Mikey said "thank you!! I keep telling them not to talk to each other during sessions!" Like if this is a constant problem, that's a problem!! My god. Negligent and scary!! read more

Nadine..Zayna this organization has worked miracles with children with special needs. They are competent, committed and experts at what they do. Unfortunately they are not equipped to deal with parents who have special needs. Your actions were deplorable. Swim with Heart is the only extracurricular we have found that can work with the unique needs of our child and we are truly grateful to Mikey and her team. Our child has been swimming with various members of the team for years and we have been so happy with the swimming instruction, but also with the behavioral support and kindness that shines though. It is a highlight of our week watching our child swim and interact with the instructors. It is so hard to find activities that work with special needs and develop skills and confidence. Run!!!!!!! Don't expose your child to this rude and unstable person!! Mikey's behavior has been inconsistent and concerning. She confronted me, accusing me of not paying her despite having my card information on file and my prior authorization for five sessions, as we had discussed in person and through email the week before. Her actions and refusal to accept my daughter frightened my child, causing her to become emotionally distraught and deeply hurt, especially when Mikey raised her voice across the pool, and declined to engage with me, citing busyness even though there were no other students around. Multiple individuals have shared similar experiences, describing her as prone to aggression and rudeness. Based on these experiences, I cannot recommend this program. Mikey may not be suitable as a coach for working with children, given her perceived rudeness, instability, and aggressiveness. read more

We had a good experience with coaches Jerry & Jake, but in the end Mikey freaked out on us over a very minor incident that she didn't happen to agree with that involved MY children at the pool, snapped at me in front of everyone and the kids, then after the lesson I checked my email and she refunded our last 2 months without talking to me and said 'she is done with us'. Didn't say goodbye to my daughter whom she taught for over a year, no closure for her, and we were in the middle of learning side-breathing so now I feel the pressure to teach her myself so we don't lose all our hard work. Very unprofessional, unstable and unfair. Therefore I would not recommend this business to anyone. read more

This review is just about the teaching methodology as it relates to swimming. It's a semi private class so my expectations were moderate. Although we did have a conversation about my goals, the classes were not customized for me. I did not receive any attention for a class, which she promptly apologized for. I think the class has potential and I wish her all the best. Given its current state, I would not sign up for classes again. Mikey is a good human being and does care about you as a person read more

Swim With Heart is such a gift to our local community. The instructors are amazing & incredibly patient with the little ones. They teach children of all changes, regardless of their abilities or any challenges. Both my boys ages 3 & 5 have progressed so well with their swimming. It's been big leaps in improvement. My boys were initially fearful of learning to swim, Mikey & her team helped our boys get over that fear. read more

Swim With Heart is, in all honesty, the best swim program in Santa Monica. It is a swim program dedicated to teaching kids with special needs how to swim, and I have seen first hand how it has changed the lives of so many "lil' sharkies' (the team mascot is a shark). I have witness children timidly coming to the pool, and then lighting up with such huge personalities while they are in the water. Coach Mikey and her staff pay such close attention to these swimmers - they make sure that these little sharks learn how to swim with ease, confidence, and perfect form too! I personally swam on the SWH Masters team - I was one of Mikeys first Master Swimmers when she started the program in 2012. I am a seasoned swimmer (have been swimming since age 8) and swimming with SWH Masters is hands down the best and greatest swim team experience. Our swim practices are fun and we are always laughing and enjoying our swim sets (Don't get me wrong, we still worked hard in our sets, but we finished each practice with a smile). Coach Mikey is truly a beautiful person inside and out, she changes lives and empowers children to believe in themselves while also making their bodies stronger through swimming. These kids are always having fun in their lessons, and when they step onto the pool deck they literally jump for joy when they see Coach Mikey. The facility they swim out of, Santa Monica College, has a two beautiful pools - one is olympic sized, and the other is a smaller lap pool, but is heated and so awesome. You will love it! read more

As a lifelong swimmer--I've always known the benefits of the water. Growing up, I was able to become a better version of myself from the hours I spent in the pool. I had moved to LA, working an incredible job, and was in the best relationship of my life--but still felt a bit lost. My husband was working with Swim with Heart, and after every session or even office visit with Mikey, he came home with an ear to ear grin. This motivated me to learn what exactly was going on. I met Mikey, the kids, the adults, and instantly felt the need to become apart of Swim With Heart. Mikey's one on one set-up, her love for the sport, children, and belief in her program truly sets Swim With Heart apart from any other swim program I have ever been apart of (and there has been many). My daughter had to get her time up for the Junior Guards and it was too late to sign up for community swim classes. I had a nightmare with swim coaches with my son so I was worried I met Michael with Swim with Heart and she jumped right in with my daughter. It was amazing how much she has progressed. Coach Mikey runs an outstanding program. Having observed her teaching techniques and those of her staff--especially with children and special needs students of varying ages--I decided to take lessons from her. As an adult who just recently learned to swim (after several unsuccessful attempts and a lifetime of fearing the water), I needed a teacher who could not only identify the areas in which I needed help, but also give me specific guidance with clear explanations and exercises that allowed me to practice what I'd been taught--and that's exactly what Mikey has done. Moreover, she teaches with an upbeat, encouraging attitude that makes me look forward to every lesson and every practice session. I'm not only doing laps now; I'm doing them faster, smoother, than before--and actually enjoying them. And still, she keeps showing me how to swim even better! read more

\We are owed a lesson and the attitude of the owner is so bad.. no follow up at all.. totally expensive to start. they charge you a test fee where no one else in the area will charge. They don't get back to you on scheduling, and we have been owed at least a lesson since last summer. The owner has not followed up or returned emails. Total rip off.. and NOT Swimming with Heart for sure! read more
