My family and I had been in search for a dog for quite a few months. The online search and contacting rescues was an exhausting process. We found Wags & Walks and sent in an application for a dog. The next day I received a call from Jade, an adoption coordinator. She asked what my family and I were looking for in a dog and right then I knew this was the rescue I wanted to work with. I didn't feel rushed and I could tell this rescue truly cares about all the dogs and the foster/adoption process. We set a time to visit their facility the following week and met Jade. She was so patient with me and my family while we met a few dogs and made our decision. We took our Lil Bit as a foster for a week to make sure he was the right fit for our family and while he was still taking his medication Wags & Walks was giving him for his cold. The week we were fostering I was in contact with Jade and she answered all my questions in a timely manner. We adopted a week later. Jade offered for us to take Lil Bit back so they could do one more medical check before the adoption was finalized. Jade also sat with me and went through all the adoption forms. During this entire process, I never felt rushed or forced to adopt. I was guided with kindness and patience. My husband and I genuinely love fostering dogs and helping animals in need, which is why this experience was so disappointing. We've foster failed a couple dogs, helped place another through our online community, and poured a lot of time, care, and emotional energy into helping these animals. Despite that, we were repeatedly met with rude, dismissive, and condescending communication from staff, coordinators, and even veterinary partners both via email and when we would take the foster in for appointments. What was most frustrating was seeing the urgency around training and behavioral support suddenly disappear once they learned we were moving forward with adoption. The concern for the dog's behavioral needs no longer seemed to matter in the same way. Given the adoption fee of $500, we also expected a much higher level of communication, support, and behavioral follow-through than what was ultimately provided. Rescue work should be rooted in compassion for both the animals and the people volunteering to help them. Unfortunately, the way we were treated made it clear we will not be fostering with this organization again, and I would encourage others to think carefully before fostering, supporting, or adopting through them. read more

However, they are keeping my dog after he was turned in after being impounded in my car and the police removed his name tag. I was harassed off the streets illegally by the police. They apologize and said they had no warrant for my arrest or charge. I've been in a big lawsuit with a pass partner, who is trying to block mail me into a settlement from a lot of physical damages from violence. Wags & Walks exploited a situation where my dog turned back up at the rescue because its microchip was not changed, and now they are confirming, I never adopted the dog. This is a scam. They are claiming the money I paid for the dog was neither a foster fee, adoption fee or donation. Then what is the money for? They raised millions at 2024 charity gala I went too yet still scam people for money. This place is highly unethical and dangerous so more press will be circulated about them. read more

They'll lead you on with no intentions of actually letting you adopt. They paired me with a dog who I felt was a perfect match and had me come in for a Meet and Greet. They noted over and over that I would be able to take him at the end of the session and said that is actually their goal as I had noted I would love to do their foster-to-adopt option. Not sure what happened during the M&G but suddenly "he was not ready for a foster or adoption" after I said in person I would love to start the foster trial. They said they had to ask the trainer if he can even go to a foster since he suddenly wasn't ready for one? Only for them to tell me three days later he is being sent to a DIFFERENT foster. They noted he is very well trained and even made me commit to follow-up training sessions and then suddenly said he isn't trained enough despite them showing me his skills during the appt. They also CONTINUE to post him on their IG stating he is ready for adoption. It's all fake. The dog had a bad foster before and they are trying to blame it on me when it is clearly just something personal they have against me (for no reason). There's a total lack of honesty from the staff and it's rude and disrespectful. Would avoid them as they are also incredibly expensive and you're better off giving your money and love to an organization that actually cares. read more

I adopted my precious third fur baby here and I cannot recommend them enough. The whole adoption process was so smooth, they were so friendly and accommodating, and I appreciated the time and care they took to make sure it was a good fit for me and my baby. When it came time for his neuter, I was amazed at how well the surgery results were, honestly the suture line was cleaner than when my other dogs had their surgery done at a vet's, and the recovery was quick and painless. I also appreciate the small but important touch of providing us with pain meds for him that were in easy to dispense syringes. I have been recommending Wags & Walks to everyone I know and will continue to do so! read more

We had such a disappointing experience with this rescue, and I feel like others should know what to expect. My family came in genuinely excited to adopt a puppy and provide a loving, forever home. We brought our 7-year-old Chihuahua to the meet-and-greet -- a dog who has been around tons of other dogs (big and small), stayed in homes with up to five dogs at a time, and has NEVER shown an ounce of aggression. She is gentle, social, and calm. The rescue staff evaluated her in a tiny indoor room, on a leash (which she is never on indoors), and after a single minor vocalization -- not a growl, not a lunge, just a noise -- they decided she was too much of a risk and denied the adoption. It was shocking, honestly. Even my husband, who is always blunt when it comes to our dog's behavior, couldn't believe it. We have a loving home, a big backyard, and a lot of love to give. We were ready to welcome a rescue dog and give her the world. Instead, we were judged unfairly and turned away based on a very controlled and unnatural interaction. If you're considering adopting from this rescue, just be prepared for an extremely overzealous, rigid process and snap judgments that don't always reflect real-world dog behavior. Sadly, it seems they're more interested in perfection than finding good homes. We'll be adopting from a shelter or rescue that actually wants to see dogs placed in safe, loving environments -- not one that actively makes it harder. read more

Wags and Walks LA is such an incredible organization. They made fostering so easy! I attended an informative foster orientation, and was matched with a sweet dog for a temporary (holiday) stay. They considered the specifics of our situation (including safety for my kiddos), and we had the most wonderful time hosting a senior pug (Fez). They followed up to check on him during the stay, and were available for advice for first-time fosters like us. We're looking forward to helping out again, and we know that the outstanding team at Wags and Walks will be there to support us every step of the way. We've also participated in reading to foster dogs and in "puppy yoga" sessions for families - every experience has been top notch. We lost our French bulldog to lymphoma in 2023 and didn't feel ready to add another family member until this past month. We adopted our French bulldog / pug puppy from wags & walks and I was so impressed with how efficiently they operated and the adoption process overall. I've heard of other rescues being unrealistic with adoption requirements but I think wags & walks was appropriately thorough placing our dog, who is a (sometimes) difficult mix of breeds health-wise and I could tell they were super focused on making lifetime matches for their rescue babies. We are in love with our dog and so thankful he is ours. Also we brought him to the vet a week after and they verified he was completely up to date on vaccinations and healthy. read more

After checking out 3 other rescues we ended up at Wags and Walks. They are heads and tails above everyone else. From the first communication they were so professional and responsive. The facility is spotlessly clean (not true about some of the others we looked at). We were able to meet our dog in a quiet room, one on one with our older dog. The couple who was fostering our pup was there and was able to answer questions. We were given a crate on loan, ended up buying at a reasonable price and her food. When I had questions after we brought her home they responded immediately. We brought our pup back to have her spade and they had a 24 hour number to call with questions, even on Thanksgiving. I would highly recommend getting a pup from them. read more

Posting a review from a volunteer standpoint. If you are looking for a way to give back that involves dogs, this is a great place to start. First steps is to schedule an orientation, then next is a shadow shift (to learn the logistics and procedures). The volunteer coordinator, Candice, was terrific. Very informative and warm and welcoming. They could use volunteers for many different ways, but if you are looking to spend some time with dogs walking or playing with them, you can do so any time you are in the area. They track the hours through the My Impact app, which will allow you to move up to their other dogs that may need additional training or be a bit more challenging to walk. They are closed on Tuesdays, and offer adoptions on the other days, which would make the volunteer dog-walking a bit more hectic at the center. But overall a great way to get involved! read more

My husband called 2 weeks ago to come to the rescue. We were told that they were too busy and to email for an appointment. I emailed to make an appointment so we could bring our dog in. I spoke to someone on the phone that said we could come today and bring our dog as well as my brother's. We were told there would dogs on site. My brother and I drove an hour to our appointment with our dogs to not meet any of the dogs listed on email or any other dogs because they were out at events. If you are going to schedule an appointment, call before coming to make sure dogs will be there. Otherwise you will waste your time like I did. 2 and half hours of my life I will not be getting back. read more

I question their devotion to find forever homes for their animals. I have put in several applications with no response. When I finally got a text message it was to tell me the animal was adopted. I check their website weekly and inquire via text about new dogs. Sometimes I get a response telling me the animal is no longer available, most of the time I get no response. I had my friend fill out an application as well to see if she had better luck. Nope Her's was even worse if you can imagine that. Maybe they need better employees to keep track of applications and the inquiries about adopting. read more

This began a week ago when I was communicating with Erica about surrendering my dog. Erica responded to my email about a week later vaguely explaining the process but for some reason she was stuck on my question around pricing for my unvaccinated pup rather than truly understanding the need and being diligent about my circumstances. Today I arrived at the facility. Everyone there was so warm and loving to both me and my pup. Erica, in the other hand, was very cold and acted as if I was inconveniencing her. She also arrived late to our appt with no apology. We walk into a room and just said " drop the leash". So I unhooked my dog and he began roaming around. She didn't even call my dog's name or get any treats to bring him to her. She also didn't explain the process of the temperament check and immediately began diagnosing my dog's limp and saying he would need surgery as a way to communicate that he wouldn't be accepted into the facility. I provided medical records indicating that my dog was healthy and I had a vet look at the limp already to determine that. She shared that she would not accept my dog because of this limp that she diagnosed as if she were a vet. Overall my dog is super friendly and went to everyone in that facility except for Erica and she used that as a way to say "he's too attached to Me". She should have conducted a "temperament check" with him interacting with other dogs or her observing his interactions with the other people in the facility. Erica was very cold, unfriendly, and unprofessional. I have no idea what the temperament check consisted of other than her observing my dog and inaccurately diagnosing him. I was recommended to this place by a friend who says that they have a 100% adoption rate. I am wondering if that provides a bias and any dog that is not "perfect" to the eye they don't adopt. All in all I think it was for the best that my dog is not going to be there and I am sad that this situation occurred. And I would tell people to stay away from this place if they plan to surrender their pup. I wish I didn't have to but I'm moving to a place that wouldn't accommodate my dog well. read more

I was very impressed with your facility. It was very clean and the front desk was welcoming. Our adoption counselor, Jade Schuman, was friendly and knowledgeable. The initial questionnaire I filled out beforehand is extensive, so I felt like she was already familiar with what we had to offer. It was easy to keep in touch by text during the 3 day trial period. The adoption fee was very reasonable, since it came with vaccines, flea medication and spaying/neutering (if needed). I admire people that help rescue animals, but this rescue group gets an "A+" from me. read more

What a beautiful + loving space for these pups! We were super impressed with the team, cleanliness of the facility and of course, happy pups! Our family was able to attend their orientation training to become a volunteer here. This organization does a lot of work and tons of volunteers are helping each and everyday! Today, National Pup Day, we were able to train for our first time. This is called Shadow Shift, where one of the trainers walks you through the daily tasks and responsibilities you'll be able to do, if you choose. First level of volunteering is called "Black Paw shifts". This is where you'll be able to help out with the super easy doggies, so you can gain confidence in all the tasks that they need help with. This helps with getting familiar with the team, dogs, supplies, cleaning, walks and the facility itself. Black Paw pups are easier to walk as they have been trained over time or learned a bit faster than others. Work your way up to "Teal Paw shifts" after 12 hours of volunteering. You can choose to stay with just handling the Black Paw pups too. If you do decide you are interested in Teal Paw shifts, this means learning more about dog-handling and supporting the pups who require more special attention! Teal Paw pups mean they may have never walked on leash before, may be particularly strong, or may not have good leash manners yet. You'll be able to learn more of that. Even though all pups LOVE their walks, there are other ways to volunteer! They also need help with: -Transportation (Taking dogs to/from their vet appointments and picking up dogs from the shelter) -Fundraising (Professional experience is required. Please be prepared to submit a resume) -Video editing & graphic design (Professional experience is required. Please be prepared to submit a resume) Fostering From your help, these doggies get to feel the love and care they deserve. She was aware of her breed and still directed me towards filling out all of the forms and the information, just to get an email that they don't accept working breeds. After my adoption experience here, I had to write a review! My boyfriend and I were looking for a dog or puppy, but after a bad experience with another rescue we were scared. I saw an adorable puppy we were interested in and submitted an application. I was contacted VERY quickly by Jill from the adoptions team to set up a phone interview. She let me know the pup I was interested in already had a meet and greet lined up and gave us some other options of puppies and dogs that were available. The same day she let me know that the sister of the puppy we were initially interested in had a meet and greet fall through and asked if we were interested in meeting her, so we did! They were very accommodating as far as our schedules. The adoption facility is super clean and everyone we interacted with there was extremely kind and professional. Jill was there along with the puppy's foster, who helped answer the millions of questions we had. We made it official and took home our girl that day! We've had her for almost 2 months now and she's already added so much joy to our lives (and taken away some sleep and sanity). It's clear that Wags & Walks really takes care of their dogs and does their best to match the right dogs with the right people. Attended one of their Paint with pups night and was not dissatisfied. We went on a Sunday and street metered parking was free, always a nice feeling. They provided adequate supplies and even had some delicious pizza available along with the wine. Even if you are no artist, they had a painting instructor there who had us paint a simple yet adorable painting. Throughout the event they passed around some puppies, very expertly and gently I might add. Towards the end of the night I had a new painting and a puppy fast asleep on my lap. I think that's what gets people to adopt! I adopted a dog through W&W in January and they made the whole process so easy. You can tell they are "dog people" and really care about the animals they take in. Plus my new doggo is THE BEST. I will say that it initially took a while for me to be contacted/considered for adoption - but that was probably because it was peak COVID times and I wanted dogs that probably got swept up quickly. But things seem to be a little less hectic now and communication is great once you're "in." Would highly recommend working with Wags & Walks if you're ever looking for a pet.
