We had our daughter's birthday here. The website is misleading as the photos are not what we walked into. It's in the backyard of their house and there were cats everywhere, smelled a bit like cat urine and it was quite dirty. I felt safe as far as the trapeze equipment goes and the girls had a fun time learning, but the instructors didn't seem overly interested or enthusiastic. Again, all of the girls in the party liked the actual trapeze flying, so that was fun, but the "facility" left a lot to be desired. They could easily make it so cute and clean back there, but it was pretty run down looking and quite dirty. read more

I first tried flying trapeze 25 years ago when I was about 40 years old. I loved it as a sport that challenged me physically and mentally. A few years later, I had a shoulder injury and arthroscopic surgery. I was encouraged not to fly any more. Recently, at age 68, I decided to try trapeze again and I'm delighted to have found SwingIt Trapeze. The owners, Nick and AJ, are concerned first with each participant's safety. I've always said that trapeze is a very safe sport because all students must wear safety lines that are controlled by an instructor. A student is only allowed to fly without lines after demonstrating the knowledge and ability to do so, and then only if she or he has performed a particular trick well enough to do it without lines. Lines or no lines, it's such a fun and exciting sport. Nick and AJ, and the others (like Jeff) who join them to help new and continuing students, are knowledgeable, helpful and always supportive. They have created an atmosphere of congeniality and acceptance, so no matter what level the student is, the instructors and the other students cheer everyone on. Housed in the owners back yard I wasn't sure we were at the right place when my Uber dropped me off, but step behind the gate and it's like you've been dropped into a circus magic land. They're 100% there for you through all of your ups and downs throughout the experience and are very forgiving of mistakes but are thankfully very real and up-front about what you slip up on, and they'll tell you as it is. There is so much to be said about SwingIt Trapeze! My friends and I decided to all go one night- our group made up 70% of the class- just for the fun of doing something new and unique. Every single one of us has continued to go weekly! I found this class on ClassPass (http://class.ps/mAB5X) and it's something I've always wanted to try! My boyfriend and I came the first time but it was sprinkling (how unlucky, it almost never rains in LA!) so he gave us a code to come back another week. It's SO MUCH FUN! When I backflipped off the swing it was the coolest feeling. It looked great on video too! Tips: - Check weather. It's outdoors so you can't grasp the bar if it's wet - Work out your hands! Do pull ups! My hands were dying after an hour and I couldn't continue on. Had I prepped, I may have been able to go on a few more times! - Ask for an ice pack afterwards. It helps SO MUCH. - Spray bug repellent if you get bit easily like me. I got a few ant bites - Wear sunblock but only from elbow up. They will make you wash off the rest! read more

My 9 year old daughter did her first flying trapeze class this week and had a fantastic experience. She is an aerialist, so is probably a bit more inclined to hanging in the air than the average child; but I could tell that AJ is very adept at working with children. If you plan to bring a child, just know that they will have to climb scaffolding-type stairs up to the platform which looks about 3 stories high. The location is definitely "peculiar" (in the backyard of a residential home), but I felt like it added to the charm and the feeling that this is a company that really wants to share what they love. In addition to flying trapeze, they have just about every circus apparatus you can think of on site! As circus enthusiasts, we are so happy to have come across this place; we have already signed up for next weekend! read more

I joined my friend who wanted to celebrate her birthday by swinging from ungodly heights, so I obliged! The staff was great and very encouraging. I was shocked at the level everyone excelled to by the end of the 2 hour beginner's course. We used a groupon special, $69 for two people, but I believe it is normally $75 per person. If you want to get more time swingin', try and sign up for a class with the least amount of people. When we signed up, there were 2 others, and turned into a group of 8, and everyone got to swing about 5-6 times. They'll send you an email about attire and sunscreen, etc and I recommend wearing socks, just like another reviewer recommended. The stairway up the podium is metal and has grooves, so the extra padding is helpful. Also, I felt a little more secure at the top with socks on. I probably won't do this again, as it scared the bejesus out of me, but I'm glad I can say I did it! They taught us to swing, all the way to catching a coach's hands upside down. Fun experience! Bring a friend or two to take pictures/video and watch! They are allowed in the area. read more

Everything you could want from a circus school. I got a groupon for 3 trapeze classes (thank you random sales!) My first class was awesome! I was swinging, doing double knee hangs, and catches at the end of the class. I got lucky. There weren't a lot of students that day. Val is very patient, she always made sure to ask if I had to rest or skip. Tips: Wear leggings (easier to grip the trapeze with your legs), socks are optional, but if you dont like walking around bare feet you might want them, workout gloves if you dont want to blisters (unless you have thick calluses). Warm up before you get there. It's more like a get up and go type of deal. Bring loads of water to hydrate you. if you're going with friends as an Im-doing-something-crazy-for-once-in-my-life-with-my-girls, you might want to bring cash to buy the pictures they take with their Dslr. They take cards too. They also offer silks and lyra classes. read more

I'm an avid Groupon-er that likes to try random classes for the heck of it. They had an amazing deal for two, so I decided to try it out with a friend many many months ago! (Sorry for the belated post) My friend and I had no gymastic background whatsoever and I most definitely do not lift, so if I can do this, anyone can. There were about 3 or 4 trapezers there that day, all of which were wonderful and patient to the trapeze-challenged. They allowed me to go at my own pace and shouted words of encouragement throughout my lesson. From afar the net seemed narrow, but it was more than wide enough to catch you when you release yourself. I remember being petrified my first swing, but "falling" is probably the most fun part! If I ever do start lifting and gain enough upper body strength, I'll be back! read more

What really caught us off guard was that it was at a residential backyard. We almost didn't go in because it felt kind of sketchy, especially since their website is so well put together. But they were very welcoming once we got there. Also, the backyard it's held in smelled strongly of cat. Like I said, it was a good experience and we are glad we did it.
