I love Manitou Springs. We were having a girls day. Wanted to end our day with a glass of wine. Unfortunately they were out of several wines. I was a bit upset since it was a lot of my favorite styles and it is a wine bar. I did find one that was ok. I was a bit disappointed in their bread pudding. It was deflated and seemed like it was made in a muffin tin. Not your typical bread pudding. I did like their small patio. It had a goof vibe. We stopped here for a late lunch and have no regrets. We were starving and decided that once we'd looked at Yelp, any place in the Monitou Springs area should not disappoint with tbw high ratings. The Swirl is beautifully decorated and the staff were welcoming and attentive. I selected the chicken pot pie with a side of apples for my entree. It had a buttery puffed pastry on top, with chicken and vegetables within the pie itself was just the right amount of creaminess. The added side of crisp apples paired well after a hearty bite. Normally, I'm a red wine gal, but I took the waiter's suggestion to choose a white; it was smooth and buttery and, as suggested, paired well with my meal. For my partner, he went with the flatbread, which, I will add, was not a thickly breaded. We normally order thin, so we were very pleased that it wasn't too much bread. It was topped heavily with toppings, the sauce was satisfying, and overall, a really good flatbread. The place seems quaint, and there is seating in the alleyway. As mentioned, it is beautifully decorated, and it's a great place to take a photo while on vacation, apart from enjoying a great meal or refreshing cocktail/wine. read more

We were a group of five and our hostess found the perfect place for us to relax and enjoy our lunch. Our drink orders were filled quickly. I had a local pilsner that was on tap and quite good. I ordered their Cubano sandwich and my partner had their potpie offering. Both arrived nice and hot and looked delicious. My Cubano was very good, the mix of meats included capri cola, chorizo and pork shoulder worked well with their homemade pickles. The house chips were a delight too. The missus' potpie was, in a word, massive. It featured a pie crust that enclosed the ingredients, not just covering the top as done in other establishments. Super cute local bar! They have both indoor and outdoor seating. I love the aesthetic decor inside (vibrant umbrellas lining the ceiling) and also found the back patio to be very enjoyable (fairy lights and a warm fire). Was in town briefly overnight and stopped in for dinner before driving back north. We weren't disappointed. I got the salad with goat cheese (I forget the name) and it was great. It's kind of basic in the way of a salad and I make the same salad at home but it was still tasty. My friend got the grilled cheese and tomato soup and he loved it. We shared a pitcher of the white sangria which was seasonal with a fall flavor flair. It tasted really watered down though, even from the first glass. It was a little plain tasting to be honest and it was the only thing that was disappointing, especially for a wine bar. Service was fabulous. It was worth the stop. read more

We stumbled upon this place and had a great lunch here. The decor is Whimsical with umbrellas, adjourning the ceilings, and lots of bright color. Our server was a nice older man who took careof us. We ended up getting a flatbread, which was delicious. It wasn't like a fluffy flatbread, such as I was imagining but more like a tortilla pizza type of situation, but it was still good. We also split a large salad that had grilled cheese, tomato, and balsamic which was so delicious. The flatbread and large pizza was perfect for a lighter lunch. Cute spot! Came here with the hubs on a late Sunday afternoon to enjoy a bevvie before heading back to Denver. Big fan of the decor and their quaint little outdoor seating. We only had wine so I can't speak for the food, but it looked quite tasty! The hubs had a local red wine and I went with a bubbly - both were well priced and hit the spot. We also ordered their house-made ginger beer to go, which seemed to be an odd request but they rolled with it and it was very yummy and refreshing. Staff was great - everyone was super friendly and we had multiple folx come check on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Soft baguette, with several types of melted cheese and a roasted tomatoes. Other friends had the BEEF SHEPHERD'S PIE and INCLINE SALAD, both raved throughout the meal how good the food tasted! Jolliet, our server, kept the front room moving by herself on this busy lunch ride, our water and drinks were never empty! The lady behind the bar walked past us 3 times. So we waited, a couple of lady's came in behind us, and after a few minutes they asked, "has anyone acknowledged you yet?" At this point it's been 15 minutes and nobody even looked at us or spoke to us. I watched the guy give a table of 4 menus, never spoke to us, and actually went back and took their order later. With an empty table behind them. So everyone in line left. Yes, there were open tables and seating at the bar. Obviously I will never go back after being disregarded like we were not standing there. Nobody even stopped to say "it might be a few minutes." Needless to say this review will go on all review sites. I feel bad for the owner, service like that does not bode well. read more

Upon first look, the restaurant -- which is a mainstay in Manitou Springs -- seemed quirky and fun. Despite walking into a nearly empty restaurant during the lunch hour on the weekend, it was very fun indeed and especially due to the multitude of colorful umbrellas of various styles hung from the ceiling. The indoor area is attractive but I hear their patio is just as much therefore maybe most diners opted for that seating option. Their menu consisted of the typical wine bar fare with the presence of small bites, soups, and flatbreads, but the sandwiches did occupy the largest portion of it. I had a difficult time ordering from this menu and wished I had just gone for the often recommended brie dip. The sandwiches and flatbreads were a little pricey and often the base prices seemed initially reasonable but only due to the lack of protein. The extra price to add protein was often a bit much ($3-6). I eventually settled with this Thai Coconut Curry Soup ($6) which I had chicken added (+$3) for a total price of $9. I was expecting the texture of this soup to be somewhat closer to curry, but it was very thin. The 2 measly pieces of baguette on the side was so obviously stingy and sad it made me laugh. On the plus, the Red Wine Sangria was glorious, providing the ultimate cooldown after a morning of hiking. Also a positive was the service which was incredibly quick and friendly. Parking will not be friendly no matter the ease of finding it. Manitou Springs is a mountain tourist town and you will not escape the tourist tax, not even at this local favorite. read more

The server couldn't have been less interested in waiting on us. The incline salad steak was mostly gristle- we had to spit it out it was so disgusting. Salad had no salad dressing. The flatbread looked like and tasted like something you'd get at 7/11 or Chuck E Cheese. We couldn't even ask for something else because our server never returned to check on us - only came back with the check. I was skeptical at first but my wife chose this place and man! Was she right again! I can honestly say the food here is vibrant and flavorful. I am from Miami so I decided to have the cubano sandwich. However, they put chimichurri pork and it does come with pork but not chimichurri pork. Another thing that caught my eye was that it also had spicy capicola ham. The cubano sandwich does not bring that at all. BUT that doesn't mean they don't make one hell of a sandwich to fill you up! And omg the soup the tomatoe basil soup was so delicious. We sat outside and the ambiance is very nice. The service was good as well. Really cute spot in the heart of Manitou. Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and were worried we wouldn't be able to get a table as it was mobbed in Manitou from the coffin races. After a quick check-in with the welcoming and friendly host we were sat in just a few mins. There's both indoor and outdoor seating and we were brought out back to a great little spot next to the fire pit. It was a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. Our group ordered a few cocktails, the garlic pretzel, "Big Dip", "Here Os Your Burger", and the chicken pot pie. The drinks were all good, but nothing overly special for the price (pear special cocktail and old fashioned). The food was all very good. The pretzel had a nice flavor, although a little dense but loved the dipping sauces and roasted garlic. The Big Dip was really nice and tender and the chicken pot pie was the perfect way to warm up on a chilly day. The crust was so flaky and buttery - YUM! Loved the essence of thyme. My friends and I came here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. First off, Manitou springs is such a cute little mountain town, and Swirl Wine Bar is the perfect addition to this cute area. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated quickly. It seems like this Resturant/bar was run by two servers(who also were bartenders) but they did SUCH A GREAT JOB at checking on everyone/making sure everyone's needs were met. We were eating dinner a few hours later, so I ordered the roasted red pepper hummus, which came with veggies and pita bread. The hummus to veggie/ratio was a little off, so I asked for more veggies and pita bread and they brought it out without issue. My friends really enjoyed their food and drinks too! Two of my friends ordered the Thai curry soup and they couldn't stop talking about it. Definitely check this place out. I will definitely return the next time I'm in the area! read more
